3 A Message from the President of Your Senior Advisory Council, Ada Heredia Un Mensaje del Presidente de Su Consejo Asesorador Principal, Ada Heredia Hello Participants, Another month is almost over where Hudson Guild Center was very busy full of activities. I hope everyone took advantage and in the process had lots of fun. I know I did. I want to remind everyone what I said in last month s Sundial and in the cafeteria about how important it is to continue reading the Sundial, which all Hudson Guild Adult Services information is in; after all we don't want you to stay behind! The Senior Advisory Council would like to invite members to attend our next meetings to learn what we are all about and join in if you have something to share; also our next Birthday Party is around the corner, so come one come all, the Senior Council meets there with all the members and we want to hear what you have to say, so get ready to speak to us. I want to remind those going on the next Eleanor's Outing trip to get ready because we are going to have lots of fun. As always, the Senior Advisory Council and Staff are here to help make you very happy enjoying all the activities. Participants will bring in a different object each workshop, and through the act of sharing, will tell their life narrative. Additionally, you will learn more about each other and have the opportunity to reflect and share. Mondays, 11:00-12:00: News on the Net with Daniel. Use the internet to stay informed about current events and understand how news websites and search engines can help you find information on specific topics of interest. Discuss the issues while determining the opinion of each article. Fridays, 9:45-11:30: Caregivers Workshop with Luis. In this parenting skills workshop series you will learn about such topics as adult/child communication, an overview of child/adolescent development, an overview of human sexuality, and of course any other topics that you would like to address! It was a great afternoon of friendly competition and the winners received gift cards to Starbucks. We play every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30-5:00 pm in the auditorium. 9 Par ticipant Spotlight: Rosa Rodriguez Rosa Rodriguez was born in the Bronx and raised in Puerto Rico. She returned to New York when she was 13 years old and attended Julia Richmond High School. Thereafter, she worked for AT&T for 13 years and enjoyed it very much. As Rosa puts it, it was heavy work, but worthwhile. Currently, Rosa is a volunteer receptionist at New York Women Chamber of Commerce. She enjoys greeting people, learning to work with the computer and answering the telephone. Rosa has been attending Hudson Guild for about two years. She very much enjoys taking part in chair aerobics and Zumba, in addition to getting together with friends. Rosa also enjoys playing her guitar, for which she took 37 classes and composed four songs. Rosa is very enthusiastic about going on vacation and travelling. She has most recently visited California, Cancun and the Dominican Republic and looks forward to more trips ahead! Rosa Rodríguez nació en el Bronx y creció en Puerto Rico.
