It s the International Children s Day of Broadcasting, or ICDB, at Caracol Radio, Colombia s foremost radio network. With support from UNICEF, Caracol Radio carefully prepares for the Day of Broadcasting. Children from public and private schools attend workshops where they discover the possibilities that radio provides. This training gives young people the tools to transmit their hopes, concerns and ideas about making child rights a reality. Working with the children, Caracol Radio develops news, commentary, sports programming and public service announcements based on the year s ICDB theme. On the Day of Broadcasting in December, youthful creativity brings freshness to the sounds of Caracol Radio. Throughout the day, children s voices are heard by 40 million Colombians on 170 stations - - even in the most remote parts of the country. Es el Día Internacional de Radio y Televisión en favor de los Niños en Radio Caracol, la principal estación de Colombia. Gracias a tres años de dedicación y trabajo, el Día se ha convertido en una celebración de la juventud y los medios de comunicación en todo el mundo, y es especialmente vibrante aquí, en Colombia. Con el apoyo de UNICEF, Radio Caracol prepara con todo detalle el Día de Radio y Televisión. Niños y niñas de las escuelas públicas y privadas asisten a talleres donde aprenden el proceso de producción y descubren las posibilidades de la radio. La capacitación ofrece a los jóvenes los instrumentos necesarios para transmitir sus esperanzas, preocupaciones e ideas a fin de convertir los derechos de la infancia en una realidad. En colaboración con los niños y niñas, Radio Caracol realiza programas de noticias, comentarios y deportes, y anuncios de servicio público basados en el tema del Día.
