8 Section B Part Two 6. Las bicicletas eléctricas Lee este artículo. Read this article. Te imaginas un medio de transporte que evite atascos y que además suponga un gasto pequeño? No es ciencia ficción. Es la bicicleta eléctrica, un nuevo concepto que ha llegado a España con la promesa de ser más ecológico y menos ruidoso que los demás vehículos. Sin embargo, la bicicleta eléctrica presenta un gran inconveniente: gasta energía. El problema del motor eléctrico es que la electricidad, en su mayor parte, es energía sucia, no renovable, afirma José Luis García, responsable de energía de la organización ecológica Greenpeace. Algunos dicen que estas bicicletas son baratas: el gasto de la electricidad de los motores es de tan sólo 1 euro por 100 kilómetros. Otros afirman, sin embargo, que son caras: el precio de la bicicleta, que comienza en los 350 euros, es demasiado alto. Entusiastas de las bicicletas eléctricas aseguran que las ventajas que ofrecen son muchas: es posible ir de un lugar a otro sin realizar ningún esfuerzo físico, lo que hace que sean muy atractivas para los minusválidos. Y su cuidado es sencillo. Así, después de dar un paseo, se puede sacar la batería y cargarla cómodamente en cualquier enchufe de la casa. Esto tarda unas 6 ó 7 horas y se puede efectuar por la noche para tener preparada la bici para el día siguiente. Además, estas bicicletas son ligeras y se convierten en vehículos realmente portátiles incluso hay versiones plegables que se pueden transportar fácilmente.
