3 Page Three Family Faith Formation - Familias Formándose en la Fe If you are interested in joining the Family Faith Formation Program, please fill out a registration form which can be found at the back of church. Registration forms are due to the rectory by Sunday, June 16 th. As a reminder: sacramental preparation for First Communion and Confirmation is completed over two years. Therefore, we do not accept new students into the second grade and eighth grade classes. If you have a second grader or eighth grader who has not participated in the program, they will be placed in first grade and seventh grade respectively. 6 Page Six SUMMER MISSION EXPERIENCE July 29 August 3 PORT MINISTRIES, CHICAGO This summer we will return to Port Ministries, the faithbased organization located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago. Twenty parishioners volunteered last summer. This February thirty-three parishioners participated In a service project at the Port. Port Ministries was founded in 1985 by Fr. Augustin Milon, O.F.M. It began as a soup kitchen and in subsequent years, has expanded its response to the many critical needs of area residents and now serves the poor through the following ministry areas... Home Visiting: Ministry to our neighborhood shut-ins. The Mantle: Family and Children Center: Family enrichment and supplemental education for adults and children. The Bread Truck: Soup Kitchen on Wheels. Tony's Gym: Recreational Facility for Children The Port Free Clinic: Basic medical services to neighborhood poor and un-insured St. Leonard volunteers are needed to work on The Bread Truck and help with projects around the three building campus. Any volunteers who are generally handy with repairs or who have carpentry, plumbing or electrician experience will be welcomed. Cleaning, gardening, and painting are also needs Port Ministries has. The Port Clinic can use the services of doctors, nurses, or medical personnel. MISION DEL VERANO 29 de JULIO 3 de AGOSTO PORT MINISTRIES, CHICAGO Este verano regresaremos a Port Ministries, una organización fundada en la fe en el área de los empacadores de Chicago. El verano pasado veinte feligreses de San Leonardo participaron en la experiencia de misión. En febrero treinta y tres feligreses dieron un día de servicio en la Port. Port Ministries fue fundada en 1985 por un sacerdote franciscano, Pde. Augustin Milon.
