A renter, r his/her spuse, if they are living tgether, must have been 65 years f age, r lder, at the clse f the calendar year fr which a grant is claimed. Renters filing fr a grant, based n rental and Migdalia Castr, Directr f Elderly Services utility expenses incurred in 2014, must have been at least 65 years f age as f December 31, Qualified ttally disabled persns (veteran s disabilities included) are between the ages f 18 and 64 years f age nly. She has been mst active in cmmunity-based activities fr the past five decades. Nw in her mid-seventies, she still finds the ambitin, strength, time, and willingness t attend classes at Suthern CT State University and wrk clsely, n a regular basis, with the Dixwell- Newhallville senirs, attending their weekly meetings at the Cmmunity Outreach Center and participating in their many scheduled affairs, events, and trips. Als, Mayr Tni Harp recently appinted Marg t serve n the Dixwell "Q" Huse Building Advisry Cmmittee. She has already begun wrking with the Cmmittee and lking frward t bringing the "Q" Huse back t hw it was "back in the day." Her cmmitment and dedicatin has been demnstrated thrughut her years f active cmmunity invlvement. Marg Jhnsn Taylr's Bi reads as a member f the exclusive, "Wh's Wh in America." A ppular Registered Nurse, Marg was brn and raised in New Haven, CT. She attended its public schls, graduating frm James Hillhuse High Schl. In 1991, she was hnred fr her 23 years as Nurse Manager f the Wmen's Center. At that time, the nw deceased frmer mayr, Jhn C. Daniels, presented her with a Prclamatin frm the City f New Haven. Being the bright and humble sul that she has always been, Marg has had the pprtunity t serve n several bards f directrs. 7 In 1986, Marg Jhnsn Taylr, participated in the New Haven Cunty Wmen's Rund- table Series: A Prfile f the Marketplace and the Cmmunity in relatin t Black Business and Prfessinal Wmen. She is a member f and Past President f the New Haven Chapter f The Links, Inc., and the NH Chapter f Girl Friends, Inc. She is, als, a member f the Greater NH African- American Histrical Sciety and Past Vice-President f the Greater New Haven NAACP. Fr years, she has been a member f the Greater New Haven NAACP. Marg's prfessinal memberships include: The Massachusetts General Hspital's Nurses Alumni Assciatin, Inc.; Sigma Theta Tau, Delta Mu Chapter; Internatinal Nursing Hnr Sciety; and Suthern CT Black Nurses Assciatin, Inc. (frmer member). In 1993, ur amazing and utstanding cmmunity servant, Marg Jhnsn Taylr, received the Minrity Nurse f the Year Recgnitin Award. The fllwing year she received the Mary E. Mahney Award fr "Outstanding Service and Dedicatin t Nursing," frm the Suthern CT Black Nurses Assciatin and she received the Charles E. Fletcher Civic Service Award frm the Dixwell "Q" Cmmunity Huse Alumni Assciatin fr ut-standing services t ur cmmunity. After retiring frm Yale-NH Hspital, Marg was recruited t fill a vacancy at Hillhuse High Schl fr Parenting Teachers. She believes strngly that learning is a lifelng experience. She enjyed teaching; hwever, she preferred t experience full retirement. Marg has been a lifelng member f the Dixwell Avenue Cngregatinal Church, UCC, where she has served as Sunday Schl Teacher, Finance Bard member, Usher and Church Histrian. Last year, the trailblazer, Marg Jhnsn-Taylr, stepped dwn frm her psitin as Church Histrian. She remains a member f the Histry Cmmittee. Our awesme servant is nt withut Awards, Citatins and Hnrs. In 2001, Marg was an Hnree at the Church's 181st Anniversary. In 2003, she was recgnized by the Dixwell Men's Netwrk fr "Dedicated Service and Supprt t the men f Dixwell." In March, the extrardinary and phenmenal wman, Marg Jhnsn Taylr and her husband, Reuben, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. They are the prud parents f Lisa Taylr and the late Sctt Taylr; grandparents f Dr. Tiana Taylr (Mustafa Shabazz) and Sctt Taylr II; and great-grand-parents t Nazir Mustafa Shabazz.
