1 Authors Authors Isaac A. Azuz Adeath He holds a Doctorate in Sea Sciences by the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, Barcelona, Spain. He is also a professor-researcher of the School of Engineers of Cetys/Universidad, campus Ensenada. He is the Coordinator of the Environment and Sustainable Development Masters Program of Cetys/ Universidad. His areas of research are: integral coastal handling, simulation models for decision-taking, processes of public participation in environmental issues. He also took the Masters degree on Social Demography at the Universidad Nacional de Luján. Since 1985 she has been working as a researcher in the Colegio de la Frontera Norte and member of the National Research System since Her areas of interest in research and teaching are internal and international migration. She has published articles, critiques and reviews in Mexican journals such as Migraciones Internacionales, Frontera Norte, Estudios Fronterizos, Demos. Carta demográfica de México, Papeles de Población, Nueva Antropología, México Indígena. 3 Authors María Cristina Cacopardo She holds a B. A. in Sociology by the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires; she is specialized in Demography by the Latin-American Center of Demography (United Nations); she is a postgraduate researcher by the Population Council at the Università degli Studi di Roma. She is a professor of the Universidad Nacional de Luján, she is a category I member of the Incentives to Research Program and Director of the Masters Degree on Social Demography of the said University since Her main area of research is directed toward international migrations in Argentina, where -from a contemporary and historic perspectivedeals with aspects such as the family, women, endogamy and labor participation. She received her Doctorate in Research (with speciality on economy of urbanization) by the University of London, England. She is member of the National Research System, and she was awarded with the National Award of Journalism "Antonio Sáenz de Miera", 2004, under the category of article of content. She has studied poverty from different perspectives as the impact of the economic policies in the population's life styles, the critique to the poverty measurement methods forma perspective of the human rights, its evolution in Mexico and Latin America and its relation to gender, labor market and the use of time. He has worked as a designer of information procedures at the National Institute of Demography, Statistics and Informatics (INEGI), as a consultant-partner of INAPE Consultores, fellow of Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute. Currently he is an independent consultant and assessor of the National Council of Population. She currently works as a professor of postgraduate studies at the Universidad Nacional de Luján and at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero. She participates in the research project project "Pobreza y comportamiento demográfico en Luján, Mercedes, General Rodríguez y Moreno" (Poverty and demographic behavior in Lujan, Mercedes, General Rodríguez and Moreno), at the Universidad Nacional de Luján. Previously, from 1988 to 2000, he worked as a researcher of the Institute of Statistic Researches and the Centre of Population Studies and Development of Cuba. He published in Cuba several books, among which we can mention Aspectos sociodemográficos del embarazo adolescente en Cuba, which was granted a distinction by the Cuban Society of Population Studies, the Centre of Demographic studies and the Representation of the United Nations Fund for Population Activities. She has been a projects coordinator at the National Centre of Research and Development for the Wellbeing and Health (Finland), a guest researcher at the Stonian Institute of Demography of the University of Tallin. She is currently a researcher at the Department of Social Policies at the University of Helsinki. 6 Papeles de POBLACIÓN No. 51 CIEAP/UAEM Alicia Mirta Maguid A sociologist from the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires; she is a specialist in Demogaphy by the Latin-American Demography Center (ECLAC - United Nations). She is also an independent researcher of the Carrera de Investigador of the National Council of Technical and Scientific Researches (Conicet); Alicia is the Director of Sectorial Statistics of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) and associate professor of the Social Demography Masters Program of the Universidad Nacional de Luján. Between 2002 and 2003 she was in charge of the Coordination of the Regional Project "Sistema Estadístico de Información sobre las migraciones internacionales en Centroamérica y México", (Statistic Information System on international migrations in Latin America and México) based on Costa Rica and performed by the International Organization for Migrations (OIM) and the (Celade/ECLAC). Her researches are focused on the analysis of international migration in argentina and Latin America, and their relation with the labor works and life conditions. 7 Authors Rosana Martínez Holder of a B. Sc. In Sociology by the University of Buenos Aires, and a Masters degree in Social Demography by the Universidad Nacional de Luján; she also has a Diploma on Advanced Studies in Human Geography with an orientation to Demography by the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. She is currently a professor of the posgraduate studies on Urban and Regional Planning of the Universidad de Buenos Aires and in the degree on Social Work at the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino. She is a consultor for the United Nations Fund in an agreement with the National Institute of Statistics and Census within the program SIEL (Local Statistics Information System). Her research memoir subject was focused on international migrations: "Inmigración y relación con la actividad de la población argentina en España, " (Immigration and relation with the activity of the argentinian population), directed by Dr. Andreu Domingo Valls. She co-authored the article "La población latinoamericana censada en España en 2001: un retrato sociodemográfico", in Notas de Población No 81. Celade, Chile, address: rosana_m6@yahoo.com.ar Alfonso Mejía Modesto He is a sociologist by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Azcapoztzalco and professor in Demography at El Colegio de Mexico. He has performed his professional work at the National Population Council (CONAPO) and in different consulting firms. He has been a teacher of several nationally renowed universities, in bachelor and master programs. He participated in the Methods for the Evaluation of the Impact of the Population, Health and Nutrition Programs Workshop in San José Costa Rica, organized by the Centroamerican Program of Population, Carolina Population Center and Measure Evaluation. His research lines with he has participated in several national and international academic meetings have been on reproductive health and the evaluation of governmental programs impact. He currently is a full-time researcher and professor of the Center of Research and Advanced Studies of the Population, (CIEAP) of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico.
