Obviamente, los gatos clínicamente enfermos no deben ser vacunados, mientras que en los gatos positivos no enfermos existe controversia, ya que si existen estudios que demuestran que gatos infectados en fases tempranas de la infección, producen buena respuesta inmunitaria tras la vacunación, aunque no existen estudios de cómo evoluciona. VCUNCIÓN N L CO D FeLV (Virus de la leucemia felina): La vacuna contra el FeLV supuso un gran avance en veterinaria, ya que muchos gatos se infectaban, enfermaban y morían como consecuencia de la infección. Por lo tanto, se convierte en una vacuna importante que debería ser administrada a cualquier gato que tenga riesgo de contagio. Los gatos que salen al exterior o tienen contacto con gatos de la calle deben ser vacunados, especialmente cuando son jóvenes, ya que los menores de 2 años son más susceptibles a la infección. La pauta consiste en dos dosis, a las 9 y 12 semanas y revacunación cada año. La esterilización de los gatos de colonias es una muy buena solución para el control de la población y la reducción en las enfermedades infecciosas, es un hecho demostrado, que a menos población menos enfermedades.
