2 CARTA DE BENVENDA Queridos compañeros y amigos, Otro enero más nos reunimos para hablar de la rodilla Es tan hermosa! Y además muy vulnerable por su especial biomecánica y localización. No sólo se abre como un libro, charnela o puerta batiente, como se pensaba clásicamente, sino que además goza de movimiento rotacional que se pone de manifiesto nada más abandonar la extensión e iniciar la flexión. Gran parte de su vulnerabilidad se la debe a este componente rotacional favorecido por la asimetría de cóndilos femorales, platillos tibiales desiguales, meniscos y ligamentos también diferentes. La primera parte del XV Curso nternacional de Rodilla se ocupa de ciencia básica de rodilla, anatomía quirúrgica, ambiente sinovial, meniscos, rótulas y ligamentos. El sábado en la mañana se ocupará de las lesiones del ligamento cruzado anterior en el deporte y de las distintas vicisitudes que puede sufrir un atleta en el trascurso del tratamiento de dicha lesión. Esta Mesa Redonda durará tres horas y media y el excelente grupo de Expertos nos mostrará cómo tratan todos y cada uno de estos contratiempos. Contamos con los más destacados especialistas de España y de fuera, Steve Abelow (USA), Henrique Jones (Portugal) y Carlos Palavicini (Costa Rica). Además habrá talleres sobre la Artroscopia sin Cables (WAD, Dr. Guillén), sutura ósea por vía artroscópica y cultivos celulares (Condrocitos). Bien, feliz 2015 y os espero el último fin de semana de enero de 2015 para de forma científica, distendida y amigable discutir sobre las diferentes patologías de la rodilla, que es la articulación más frecuente lesionada en el hombre tanto en el deporte como fuera de él. En los arbores del siglo XX grandes avances diagnósticos y terapéuticos se nos muestran a los especialistas de la rodilla para obtener buenos resultados en las patologías de la misma. 3 WELCOME LETTER Dear Friends and Colleagues, Once again we meet in January to speak about the knee. What a delight! And yet also vulnerable because of its unique location and biomechanics. t not only opens and pivots like a book, hinge or swinging door as originally thought- it has also proven to have a rotational component which shows up as soon as the knee leaves its full extension and begins to flex. Much of its ulnerability may be entrusted to this rotational component which, in turn, is further underscored by the femoral condyle asymmetry, non-matching tibial plateaux, menisci and ligaments, all of which are also different. The first part of the XV nternational Course on The Knee will deal with basic science of the knee, surgical anatomy, synovial environment, tears and ligaments. Saturday morning will be the time to discuss ACL injuries in sport and various vicissitudes an athlete may go through while being treated for such an injury. This round table while be three hours long and experts at this table will unfold how they deal with such shortcomings. We are delighted to have with us some of the most outstanding specialists from Spain and abroad, Steve Abelow (USA), Henrique Jones (Portugal) and Carlos Palavicini (Costa Rica). Additionally we will be holding workshops on Wireless Arthroscopy (WAD, Dr. Guillén), bone suture by arthroscopy and cell cultures (Chondrocytes). And so then, Happy 2015 to everyone, and look forward to seeing you in the last week of January in order to discuss in a scientific and friendly way, at leisure, different pathologies of the knee, the most injured joint in human beings, both in and outside sport. n the dawn of the 21st Century, great diagnosis and therapy advances may be observed by specialists with the aim of treating as best they can any knee pathology.
