6 The National Strategy of Innovation: e2i e2i encompasses a series of measures focused on 5 axes which include all innovation government policies. The aim is to integrate all activities whichhaveanimpactinthedevelopmentofaninnovativeeconomy. 18 Spanish Railways Technology Platform Industry-led tool at the service of the railways sector supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation PTFE s mission is to align the strategies of the various agents, concentrate R&D and innovation efforts, and to reduce the fragmentation in research fields. It defines the Strategic Research Agenda for the Railways Sector, which is constantly being updated. Last UPDATE on May 2011!!

20 Spanish Railways Technology Platform It pursues the achievement of the scientific and technological advances required to ensure competitiveness, sustainability and growth in the Spanish railway sector, by supporting and promoting R&D studies and projects, both at national and international levels The PTFE has the objective at international level to: favor and strengthen the Spanish Railway Technology position at European level; raise FP7 Spanish participation rates; and follow the mandate of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

22 Technical Secretariat of the PTFE : The Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE) The Technical Secretariat of the Spanish Railways Technological Platform (PTFE) is developed by the Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE). It responds to the needs of the railway sector of acquiring tools that are able to give an answer to today's and future research and innovation needs. Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE) is a state public Foundation carrying out research, training and studies related to transport in general, and particularly about railways transport in its technical, political, economic and social aspects. The Board of Trustees of FFE are the most important agents of the Spanish Railway Sector, including Rus, Ims, Construction Companies, Equipment producers, Engineering companies: ADIF, Renfe, FEVE, Euskotren, FGC, FGV, FJA, Metro companies,...
