4 About US Hometown Quality Service & Superior Technology Family of Companies Valley Telephone Cooperative and VTX Telecom are the names rural South Texas communities trust for reliable telephone, high speed internet and quality television entertainment services. For almost 60 years, Valley Telephone Cooperative has provided a full range of telecommunication services to 17 rural communities in South Texas. During this time, our telephone service boundaries have grown from a farmer s fence to a global telecommunication network. Valley Telephone was incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas with charter and articles of incorporation on April 22, The sole purpose was to provide telephone service to rural subscribers deemed unfeasible by the larger phone companies. The Rural Electrification Administration (REA) created a telephone branch and made it possible for telephone cooperatives to borrow funds at a low interest rate over an extended period of time to construct the lines and provide service. In the early years, the Cooperative was comprised of two exchanges serving about one hundred fifty customers in rural Willacy and western Hidalgo Counties. Today, the company continues to grow while still providing the same friendly and quality service it did 50 years ago. VTCI s corporate headquarters are located in Raymondville. Subsidiary companies include VTX Communications, headquartered in Harlingen, and VTX Telecom located in Raymondville.
