1 Política de Participación Paternal Estimados Padres: Abajo se encuentra la copia final de la política de participación paternal de Title I para este año. Por favor comuníquese con nosotros si tiene cualquier comentario o sugerencia. Muchas Gracias. Tanglewood Middle School Consejo de Title I para la Política de Participación Paternal Para implementar un programa efectivo de participación paternal en la escuela Tanglewood Middle School haremos: 1. Involucrar de las siguientes maneras a los padres para que participen en el desarrollo del Plan de Title I de Tanglewood Middle School, de la política de participación paternal, y en el proceso para revisar y mejorar las actividades de la escuela. Revisar los propósitos y estrategias del programa de Title I y de la participación de padres. Ayudar a que los padres comprendan temas tales como los criterios académicos del estado, las evaluaciones estatales, los progresos anuales, el control efectivo de los progresos académicos de los niños. Revisar los resultados de las encuestas a los padres, los programas de evaluación y la información de los progresos para la revisión anual de la escuela. 2. Usar la información recogida a través de las actividades enumeradas arriba para: Revisar los borradores de Title del distrito y la escuela de la política de participación paternal. Designar estrategias para expandir las actividades. Indicar las secciones inadecuadas. Remover las barreras para promover la participación. 3. Coordinar de la siguiente manera los servicios y asistencia para planear e implementar efectivamente la participación de los padres. Proveer materiales e instrucción académica y tecnológica para permitir que los padres ayuden a sus hijos con sus trabajos escolares; Proveer entrenamiento al personal de la escuela y a los directores para fortalecer la participación de los padres, incluyendo actividades de cooperación comunitaria. Entregar información a los padres sobre los programas de Title I, servicios, oportunidades para que los padres participen, derechos paternales, proceso de revisión de los planes y niveles de mejoramiento de la escuela; Proveer servicios apropiados de apoyo a los estudiantes para facilitar la conexión entre la escuela y el hogar además de ayudar en los logros académicos. 4. Construir de la siguiente manera una estrecha y sólida relación entre la escuela y los padres: Educar, con la ayuda de los padres, a los maestros, personal de servicio, directores y todo el personal, del valor y utilidad que tienen las contribuciones que los padres aportan; además instruirlos en las mejores formas de comunicación para alcanzar e incentivar la participación paternal para trabajar con ellos como asociados en la educación de los niños y así estrechar los lazos entre padres y la escuela. Colaborar con el PTA, SIC, agencias comunitarias y negocios para que den entrenamiento a padres para ampliar su capacidad de ayuda en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes y la participación en el proceso escolar ya sea como voluntarios, ayuda académica, exploración de carreras, y actividades paternales; Distribuir a las escuelas los comentarios y recomendaciones de las reuniones del Directorio de Padres; Colaborar con el Distrito y la comunidad para poder entregar a los padres horarios
2 flexibles y convenientes para que puedan participar en las actividades y clases de desarrollo paternal, académico, educacionales y asistencia con las tareas escolares. 5. Coordinar la participación de los padres en las actividades de aquellos programas en las siguientes áreas: Programas estatales para pre-escolares que apoyan la transición académica; Fuentes informativas para padres entre programas que promueven la educación, paternidad, logros académicos para los estudiantes y participación paternal en la educación de sus hijos; ayuda para los padres en la escuela, la familia y los servicios de ayuda a los estudiantes. Ayudar a los padres a través de la educación familiar, consejeros y trabajadores sociales que sigan los casos de los niños en la escuela; Proveer oportunidades para que los padres participen; rembolsar dinero de millaje para incentivar las visitas necesarias a las casas de los estudiantes de K4. 6. Enviar información relacionada con los programas, reuniones y otras actividades escolares en un formato y lenguaje que los padres puedan comprender: Auspiciar una reunión anual de padres, personal de la escuela y el personal de ayuda para compartir las diferentes actividades que mejoren la participación paternal; Publicar anualmente los resultados de las evaluaciones y de los programas para participación paternal, tratando de lograr un aumento del 5% de participación; Mantener información sobre todas las actividades en el distrito que se refieran a participación paternal buscando un aumento del 5% de participación; Publicar la opinión sobre la eficiencia del programa y las oportunidades que hay para que los padres participen en la educación; Analizar dos veces al año los resultados de un 25% de las encuestas de los padres de Title I para determinar las barreras que impidan una mayor participación; Diseñar estrategias para expandir actividades exitosas. 7. Involucrar a los padres en el desarrollo de programas de entrenamiento para los maestros, directores y otros educadores para mejorar la eficacia de los mismos. 8. Incentivar la participación de los padres ofreciendo y organizando diferentes reuniones con horarios y lugares que se acomoden a las necesidades de los padres, incluyendo la posibilidad de hacer visitas de maestros a los hogares; proveer transporte para y desde los lugares de reunión; 9. Ofrecer entrenamiento a padres si es necesario; para que entrenen a otros padres y así aumente la participación paterna en las escuelas; 10. Organizar diferentes reuniones con horarios y lugares que se acomoden a las necesidades de los padres, incluyendo la posibilidad deque los maestros visiten los hogares de aquellas familias que no tengan la posibilidad de asistir a las reuniones realizadas en la escuela; 11. Participar en las reuniones del consejo a nivel del distrito para dar sugerencias en todos los temas relacionados con la participación de los padres. 12. Desarrollar roles apropiados para que organizaciones y negocios de la comunidad participen junto a los padres. 13. Entregar otras formas de apoyo si son requeridas por los padres; 14. Dar todas las oportunidades posibles para que los padres con ingles limitado, padres con impedimentos, además de entregar la información sobre los reportes de las escuelas de Title I, como lo requiere la ley en la sección 1111, en un formato e idioma que sea comprensible para todos los padres. 15. Proveer a todos los padres de Tanglewood Middle School acceso a este documento antes del 30 de Octubre de cada año. Las escuelas entregaran esta información en su diario informativo. 16. Proveer a los padres de Tanglewood Middle School con información sobre los derechos que tienen de saber las calificaciones de los maestros, para profesionales o los maestros reemplazantes. Aviso sobre este derecho de saber sobre cualquier persona que no tenga las altas exigencias del decreto ningún niño se quedará atrás, será enviado antes del 16 de Septembre de cada año.
3 Tanglewood Middle School SCHOOL PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY Tanglewood Middle School values parent involvement in the education of children. To ensure effective parent involvement, the school staff will fulfill the following responsibilities. We invite parents to make comments or suggestions on these responsibilities and activities. You may submit any written comments in the space below and return to the principal no later than September 16 to the principal, William Price. Comments: A. Tanglewood Middle School will involve parents in the joint development of the Title I plan, Parent Involvement Policy, School-Parent Compact, and the process of school review and improvement through the following activities: Review the purposes and major strategies of the Title I program and parent involvement; Assist parents in understanding topics such as the State s academic content and achievement standards, State and local assessment, annual yearly progress, and effective monitoring of their child s academic work and achievement; Review results of parent surveys, program evaluations, and achievement data for the annual school review and use these data as needed to modify Parent Involvement Policy. B. Rick Menzer, Title I Facilitator, will coordinate services and assistance to plan and implement effective parent involvement activities to improve student achievement and school performance through the following: Provide materials and training to enable parents to work with children to support their academic achievement, such as through literacy training and instructional technology; Provide training to school staffs and principals to strengthen parent involvement efforts, including collaborative community outreach activities; Provide parents information about Title I programs, services, parent involvement opportunities, parental rights, plan review processes, and school improvement levels; Provide appropriate support services for students to assist with the home-school connection and with students academic achievement. C. The administration will build the schools and parents capacity for strong parental involvement through the following: Collaborate with PTAs, SICs, community agencies, and business to provide trainings and activities that build capacity for parents to assist learning and participation in school processes, such as classroom volunteering, academic content assistance, career explorations, or parenting activities; Distribute to schools the comments and recommendations from all district Parent Advisory Board meetings; Collaborate with district and community resources to provide parents flexible schedules for a variety of parenting skills classes, academic development activities, literacy programs, and homework assistance. D. The school staff will coordinate parent involvement activities with those of other programs in the following areas: State-run preschool programs to support academic transition and success; Parent resources among coordinated programs to promote literacy, parenting skills, students academic achievement, and parents participation in the education of children; Parental assistance among school, family, and support services for students entry into school and their continued academic success. E. The Title I Facilitator will conduct, with the involvement of parents, an annual evaluation of the Parent Involvement Policy that will include identifying barriers to greater parent participation in volunteering in the classroom and in other school activities. Special attention will be addressed to the following:
4 Soliciting input from parents through a variety of means; Involving parents who are economically disadvantaged, disabled, or have limited English proficiency; Involving parents of all races and ethnic backgrounds and of all educational levels; Using evaluation results to revise, if needed, the Parent Involvement Policy. F. The Title I Facilitator will involve parents in the activities of Title I schools and forward all information to parents related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities in a format and, to the extent practicable, in a language parents can understand in the following ways: Host an annual meeting of parents, school staff members, and appropriate support staff members to share effective activities for increasing parent involvement; Maintain participation records for all district-wide parent involvement activities; Solicit parent input on the effectiveness of involvement opportunities as they relate to the support of education; Publicize annually the results of evaluations and parent involvement programs. G. The facilitator will make accommodations to support parent involvement at the school level through the following: Arrange school and parent meetings at a variety of times and locations or conduct in-home conferences between parents and teachers or other educators who work directly with participating children; Encourage parent involvement by providing reasonable and necessary transportation and childcare to enable participation in school-related meetings and training sessions; Provide training of parents, if needed, to train other parents to enhance the involvement; Establish a district-wide parent advisory council to provide advice on all matters related to parental involvement in programs supported by the law. Provide other reasonable support for parental involvement activities under this section as parents may request; Provide full opportunity for the participation of parents with limited English proficiency, parents with disabilities, and parents of migratory children, including providing information and school reports required under Title I law in an easy to read format and, to the extent practicable, in a language that parents understand. Provide information regarding parent classes that teach English to speakers of other languages. H. To provide other types of supplemental services required by parents. I. To provide all the available support to parents with limited English or with disabilities, providing information Title I reports as required by law section 1111 in a manner understandable in their selected language. J. To provide all Tanglewood Middle School parents access this document before Octrober 31 each year. This information will be provided in advance in the school newsletter. K. To provide Tanglewood Middle School parents with information required regarding qualifications of teachers and paraprofessionals teaching their children (to include substitutes). The school should also provide notice of those not highly qualified under No Child Left Behind before October 31.
