En Rumbo: intermediate Spanish Personal information part 1 We re going to focus first on asking for and giving personal information. We re going to listen to street interviews with eight people from different parts of the world. At this stage you should be able to understand basic information about their names, where they are from and their families, but not expected to understand every word that is said. Pay attention to the questions that they are asked as well as the answers they give. So let s listen to the interviews: Interview 1 Me llamo Altés. Soy de Valladolid. Cuántos años tienes? Treinta y siete. Y a qué te dedicas? Soy editora. Estás casada? Y tienes hijos? Una hija. Cuántos años tiene? Catorce.
Y qué hace? Estudia segundo de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria. Interview 2 Me llamo Cruz. Soy de Honduras, de Choluteca, una ciudad pequeña al sur de Honduras. Veintitrés. A qué te dedicas? Soy estudiante. Y estás casada? No, soy soltera. Interview 3 Me llamo Mollá. Soy de Argentina, de Buenos Aires. Cuántos años tienes? Tengo veinticuatro años. Y a qué te dedicas?
Estoy estudiando publicidad y relaciones públicas. Y aparte trabajo a veces como dibujante. Estás casado? No, no estoy casado. Interview 4 Hola. Cómo se llama? Me llamo. Y de dónde es? Soy de Lérida pero ahora vivo en Madrid. Si no le importa, cuántos años tiene? Tengo cincuenta y cinco años. Y a qué se dedica? Soy profesora. Está casada? Sí, sí, sí estoy casada. Y tiene hijos? Sí, tengo dos hijos. Qué edades tienen? Quince y dieciocho años. Interview 5
Hola. Me llamo García. Soy de Madrid. Tengo treinta años. A qué te dedicas? Soy camarero. Estás casado? No, estoy soltero. Y tienes pareja? Sí, tengo novio. Cómo se llama? Se llama Alfredo. Interview 6 Cómo te llamas? Silvestre. De Colombia. De dónde en Colombia? De Tulúa, del Valle, Tuluá.
Treinta y tres. Y a qué te dedicas? Pues soy camarera. Estás casada? No, soy madre soltera. Y, cuántos hijos tienes? Uno. Cómo se llama? Mi niño? José Manuel. Interview 7. De Madrid. Seis. Y a qué colegio vas? Al Pilar.
Y quién es tu profesor? María. En qué curso estás? En primero. Y tienes hermanos? Cómo se llaman? Rodrigo y Sofía. Y qué quieres ser cuando seas mayor? No lo sé. Interview 8. De Marruecos. Catorce. Trabajas? No. Estudias?
Y estás casado? No, qué va! We have listened to eight people of different nationalities, ages and you may have noticed that some people were addressed informally and one of them was addressed formally. Other things you may have noticed were the different accents - people from Latin America and those that came from Spain. Have a go at listening again and this time pay special attention to their ages and professions. Remember that you re not expected to understand every word so don t get too focussed on that and concentrate on the fact that you can understand some of the information such as names, countries, ages or professions. Remember that a transcript of this podcast is available as well. You may want to listen one more time whilst reading the transcript.
