1 L P 2 Level 2 Spanish, Listen to and understand spoken language in Spanish in less familiar contexts Credits: Six 2.00 pm Friday 26 November 2010 LISTENING PASSAGE BOOKLET This booklet contains: Instructions for the teacher reading the listening passages Listening passages. Check that this booklet has pages 2 11 in the correct order and that none of these pages is blank. The booklet should be given to the teacher reading the listening passages 30 minutes before the start of the examination so they can familiarise themselves with it before reading. New Zealand Qualifications Authority, 2010 All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced by any means without the prior permission of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
2 2 INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE TEACHER Thirty minutes before the start of the examination the Supervisor will give you this Listening Passage Booklet. Remain in the examination room, and familiarise yourself with the booklet s contents. When the Supervisor indicates, begin reading aloud at the top of page 3. Read all the text at a normal classroom learning speed, omitting only the pause instructions given in italics. As you reach each pause instruction, tick the box alongside it. Note that pause times may vary according to the length of the reading. It should take no longer than 50 minutes to complete the reading of the text in this booklet.
3 3 New Zealand Qualifications Authority, Level 2 Spanish, Open your booklet, Level 2 Spanish, at page 2. Listen to TWO passages. You will hear EACH passage FOUR times: The first time, you will hear the passage as a whole. The second and third times you will hear the passage in sections, with a pause after each. The fourth time, you will hear the passage again as a whole. As you listen, you may make notes in the LISTENING NOTES boxes provided. PAUSE 5 SECONDS FIRST PASSAGE: The importance of breakfast Listen to a passage about the importance of breakfast. Question One and Question Two are based on the First Passage. Answer them in English, on pages 4 and 5. PAUSE 30 SECONDS

7 SECOND PASSAGE: Education overseas Listen to a passage about education overseas. Question Three, Question Four and Question Five are based on the Second Passage. Answer them in English, on pages 6, 7, 8 and 9. 7 PAUSE 5 SECONDS First reading extranjero means overseas and / or foreigner Este año saldrán dos mil alumnos españoles de entre quince y dieciocho años al extranjero a estudiar el curso escolar.
