1 Midway s Title 1 Parent Resource Room
2 What s available? The goal of the Title 1 program is to support students in reading and math so that they can be successful in the regular classroom. There are a lot of resources available for checkout so that you can work with your child at home!
3 Reading Resources The resources we have for reading focus on four key areas of reading: Letter names and sounds Sight words- words students need to know automatically Fluency- the ability to read out loud smoothly and with expression Comprehension- the ability to understand what you read and answer questions about it.
4 Math Resources The resources we have for math focus on: developing students understanding of number improving math fact fluency improving problem solving skills
5 The following slides have samples of some of the materials. Watch for training opportunities to learn more about the resources and how to use them with your child.
6 Books with CDs
7 Read Naturally- a 1 minute reading tool that allows children to practice reading fluency at home. Reading fluency can be defined as the ability to read quickly, smoothly and with expression. Students practice reading short passages out loud for 1 minute.
8 Frog Games for Reading and Math
9 Hot Dots Practice for Reading This is a self-correcting reading tool for practicing key math skills.
10 The more children hear stories the easier it is to learn to read. We have a collection of books in Spanish available for checkout. Snuggle up with your child and read a story! Books in Spanish

12 Wrap Ups Wraps allow students to practice math fact s and chart their progress!
13 Study Buddy for Reading and Math This is a great tool for reinforcing reading and math skills.
