Blatter FIFA President Franz Beckenbauer chairman of the Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 and U-17 Women's World Cup The FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany 2010 confirmed the passion for football of the German people, regardless of the age or gender of the teams involved. For each of their matches, the German U-20 side had the support of huge crowds of fans. More than 395,000 spectators attended the 32 games, breaking the previous attendance record set by Chile, who hosted the competition in The ongoing development work undertaken in the various confederations is starting to bear fruit, with new teams making their debut on the international stage. Several players distinguished themselves during the tournament, but the revelation of the tournament was German striker Alexandra Popp, a defender for her club, who was voted player of the tournament by the media and won the adidas Golden Boot with ten goals to her name. Germany, crowned world champions for the second time in five editions, confirmed their status as European leaders in women s international football. The professionalism and investment of the German Football Association (DFB) as well as the excellent work carried out by the Local Organising Committee, under the direction of President Steffi Jones, provided the opportunity for women s football to showcase the evolution and high standard of the game. This World Cup will long be remembered as an exciting tournament, full of emotions and talented players, whom we will be eager to see in action again in This technical report, prepared by the experts of the FIFA Technical Study Group, will provide you with detailed analysis of the technical and tactical skills of the teams and players involved in this competition. La Coupe du Monde Féminine U-20 de la FIFA, Allemagne 2010 a confirmé toute la passion du peuple allemand pour le football quels que soient l âge et le genre des équipes engagées. Les moins de vingt ans allemandes ont pu en effet, à chacune de leurs rencontres, compter sur le soutien des supporters venus en nombre. Plus de spectateurs ont assisté aux 32 rencontres, dépassant ainsi le précédent record d affluence détenu par le Chili, pays hôte en Le travail soutenu de développement réalisé dans les différentes confédérations a porté ses fruits. 7 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany La Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA Alemania 2010 confirmó la pasión que siente el pueblo alemán por el fútbol, sin importar la edad ni el sexo de los equipos que participan. Las jóvenes teutonas pudieron contar con el apoyo de sus seguidores, quienes acudieron en masa a todos y cada uno de sus partidos. Más de 395,000 espectadores vieron los 32 partidos, batiendo el récord de asistencia anterior, conseguido por Chile, país organizador en El trabajo continuo de desarrollo realizado por las confederaciones ha dado sus frutos. Aber nicht nur für sie: Über Besucher strömten zu den 32 Begegnungen und brachen damit den Rekord der WM 2008 in Chile. Die Förderarbeit in den einzelnen Konföderationen hat sich bezahlt gemacht und neue Teams haben sich auf der internationalen Bühne in Szene gesetzt. Mehrere Spielerinnen haben während des Turniers brilliert. Eigentliche Neuentdeckung ist aber die deutsche Angreiferin Alexandra Popp, die bei ihrem Klub notabene in der Abwehr spielt. Sie wurde von den Medien zur besten Spielerin gewählt und dank zehn Treffern mit dem Goldenen Schuh von adidas als beste Torjägerin ausgezeichnet. Mit ihrem zweiten Titel unterstrichen die Deutschen bei der fünften WM in dieser Kategorie eindrucksvoll ihre Dominanz im internationalen Frauenfussball. Dank der Professionalität und dem Engagement des Deutschen Fussball-Bundes sowie der hervorragenden Arbeit des lokalen Organisationskomitees unter der Leitung von Steffi Jones konnte der Frauenfussball einmal mehr seine Fortschritte und Klasse beweisen. Die WM 2010 hat Spannung und Emotionen geboten und zahlreiche neue Gesichter hervorgebracht, die wir 2011 unbedingt wiedersehen wollen. 10 8 Story of the tournament Story of the tournament Author: Betty Wong Group stage Just two days after the final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, women s football moved into the world s focus with less than 12 months to go until the biggest FIFA event in women s football, the FIFA Women s World Cup. The countdown started with the FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup in Germany, a country where people are clearly very passionate about women s football, and it will be followed by the FIFA U-17 Women s World Cup Trinidad & Tobago 2010 in September before the Women s World Cup takes centre stage in Germany from 26 June to 17 July This U-20 tournament was part of the planning, preparation and testing stage, and the Germans proved once again what hospitable and friendly hosts they are. The four stadiums in the host cities of Augsburg, Bochum, Bielefeld and Dresden warmly welcomed the 16 participating teams and numerous fans of women s football from all over the world. The wonderful crowds (a total of 395,295 spectators for the 32 matches) always created a cheerful atmosphere. The official opening in Bochum was a great show. Some 300 local performers and a colourful programme of music, acrobatics, dance and football launched the tournament in spectacular fashion. Karla Kick the Official Mascot of the FIFA Women s World Cup Germany 2011 also made her debut at the opening match. She conveys some of the attributes of women s football passion, enjoyment and energy. The newcomers from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ghana and Sweden all performed very well. Two of them advanced to the second stage, with Sweden finishing first in their group and Colombia second in theirs. Of the 16 qualifiers, only Mexico, Sweden and Switzerland had not played in the first-ever FIFA U-17 Women s Wor ld Cup in New Zealand in Six of the 13 teams who played in 2008 proceeded to the knockout stage in A total of 126 players had benefitted from the experience of playing in the U-17 Women s World Cup, while 49 players had played in the FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup in Chile in The 2010 edition illustrated the growth and development of the players. Group A had the biggest crowds cheering for the host team. Germany s attacking prowess was clear for all to see as they scored 11 goals, six of which came from their impressive striker, Alexandra POPP (11), the adidas Golden Boot and adidas Golden Ball winner. Both France and Colombia were in the running to join the hosts in the knockout stage, and in an exciting finish to the group, Colombia sprang a surprise to climb above France thanks to their

11 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany better goal difference. Costa Rica, although they did not win any points, were the only team to score twice against Germany. Group B produced its fair share of surprises. Sweden were able to storm into the last eight atop the table with their bold attacking play and inspired solo runs. Korea DPR, however, 2006 champions and runners-up in 2008, lost 3-2 to Sweden in their last group match due to an unfortunate own goal but still finished second in the group. Brazil have a tradition of reaching the quarter-finals at least, and they have even progressed to the semi-finals on three occasions. However, this time their talented players could not progress to the second stage. New Zealand fought very hard but left the tournament without any points despite scoring a goal in every match. Group C with England, runners-up at the UEFA European Women s Under-19 Championship 2010, Asian champions Japan, Nigeria and Mexico proved to be a very competitive one. All four teams collected one point from their first match. The physically strong Nigerians then won 2-1 against the organised and skilful Japanese, while Mexico edged out England 1-0 in their second match. In the end, Japan finished one point short of the quarters. In an exciting finish, Japan almost qualified until the Mexicans scored a late equaliser against Nigeria to finish top of the group. Group D started with a clear sign of the development of African women s football as Ghana took the lead against the USA, the 2008 champions, and held on until midway through the second half when the USA equalised to secure a 1-1 draw. Although they did not proceed to the next stage, the West Africans impressed with their fast on- and off-the-ball movements. USA kept a clean sheet in their last two group matches and finished as group winners. Korea Republic, with a solid reputation and led by the first hat-trick scorer of this tournament, JI So Yun (10), the adidas Silver Boot and adidas Silver Ball winner, were an impressive team who kept the ball moving in an enjoyable style of play. Even though Switzerland improved with each game, they could not avoid finishing last in the group. Quarter-finals Korea DPR played defensively to cope with the technically and physically strong Germany, and the Koreans threat was limited to long-range shots. Germany, with their efficient and direct passing, were the dominant force in this clash and finally won 2-0. Two tournament debutants with similar playing styles faced each other in the next quarter-

12 10 Story of the tournament final. Colombia took the initiative and outplayed Sweden with their speed and aggressive pressing, claiming a 2-0 victory and a place in the semi-finals. In the previous three editions of the FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup, Nigeria had reached the quarter-finals each time and were now facing the defending champions, the USA. After falling 1-0 down in the first half, the Nigerians came back with confidence and took control of the game, which led to an equaliser. In a thrilling penalty shoot-out, Nigeria ran out 4-2 winners. In the last quarter-final, Korea Republic dominated Mexico with their good link play between the lines, their excellent interchange of passes in attack as well as their discipline in defence. Mexico, who conceded two goals in the first half, adopted faster pressing and made more individual runs in the second half but that was not enough for the semi-finals as Korea Republic won 3-1. Semi-finals Germany v. Korea Republic 5-1 (2-0) Heavy rainfall prior to the game could not prevent Germany securing an emphatic victory. They immediately took the initiative with their speed and efficient forward movements, capitalising on one-on-one situations. Korea Republic, with their impressive possession play, struggled to clear the ball and found it hard to deal with the physical strength of the host team, which explains the high number of goals conceded. JI So Yun (10, Korea Republic) once again showed her excellent individual skill and scored the only goal for her team. Colombia v. Nigeria 0-1 (0-1) Nigeria played with confidence after Ebere ORJI (8) scored the only goal of the game after 92 seconds, which was also the fastest goal in the entire tournament. Colombia could not impose their passing game but they never gave up as Nigeria had to defend with all their might. The game ended with chances at both ends but no further goals. Match for third place Korea Republic v. Colombia 1-0 (0-0) Korea Republic took the initiative from the first minute with their well-organised positional and possession play. JI So Yun (10), with her goalscoring instinct, vision and readiness to receive the ball, once again scored the only goal. Colombia were only able to perform with the same level of energy as they had shown in previous games once they had conceded the goal but by then it was too late for them to react even though they pushed up faster and made breakthroughs. Final Germany v. Nigeria 2-0 (1-0) Nigeria marked well and closed the ball down quickly. They also showed great improvement in their build-up play with quick-fire passes, a high intensity of play and excellent fighting spirit. Germany, however, took an early eighthminute lead through Alexandra POPP s (11) tenth goal but still could not impose themselves on the game. They improved in the second half though and pushed up faster through the middle. They impressed with their long-range shots and were dangerous at set pieces. Their second, crucial goal was an own goal following a corner kick. This Germany team had all of the attributes physical, technical, tactical and mental that every strong team and world champion needs. A fascinating closing ceremony brought the curtain down on a successful FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany It was encouraging to see three new teams in the semifinals as it bore witness to the rise of new powers within the confederations at this age level. The runners-up, Nigeria, will also provide impetus for women s football in Africa. Moreover, the new attendance record underlined the rising level of interest in women s football. The success of this tournament will be a driving force and will impact positively on the FIFA Women s World Cup Germany 2011.

13 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany Compte rendu de la compétiton Auteur : Betty Wong Phase de groupes Seulement deux jours après la fin de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Afrique du Sud 2010, c était au tour du football féminin de prendre place sur la scène internationale, à un an du grand rendez-vous que sera la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Allemagne Le compte à rebours a commencé par cette Coupe du Monde Féminine U-20 de la FIFA en Allemagne, pays passionné par le football féminin, puis se poursuivra avec la Coupe du Monde Féminine U-17 de la FIFA à Trinité-et-Tobago en septembre 2010, avant le grand retour en Allemagne pour la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, qui se tiendra du 26 juin au 17 juillet Ce tournoi de la catégorie des moins de 20 ans s insérait dans la planification et la préparation pour la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA de l an prochain et les Allemands ont de nouveau fait preuve de leur habituelle hospitalité et amitié dans l organisation d une compétition. Les quatre stades dans les villes hôtes d Augsbourg, Bochum, Bielefeld et Dresde ont chaleureusement accueilli les seize équipes qualifiées et les nombreux amateurs de football féminin venus du monde entier. Le public, en tout point formidable ( spectateurs au total sur 32 matches) a toujours su créer une ambiance joyeuse. La cérémonie d ouverture à Bochum a proposé un spectacle grandiose : quelque 300 artistes locaux, un programme de musique original, des acrobates et des danseurs le tout allié au football ont lancé le tournoi de façon spectaculaire. Karla Kick, la mascotte de la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Allemagne 2011, a même fait une apparition fort remarquée. Elle promeut les valeurs du football féminin qui sont la passion, le plaisir et le dynamisme. La Colombie, le Costa Rica, le Ghana et la Suède, qui faisaient là leur première apparition dans ce tournoi, ont réalisé de bonnes performances. La Colombie et la Suède ont atteint le deuxième tour. Treize des seize pays participants avaient disputé la Coupe du Monde Féminine U-17 de la FIFA en Nouvelle-Zélande en 2008 (Mexique, Suède et Suisse étant les exceptions). Six de ces équipes ont passé le premier tour. Au total, 126 joueuses avaient l expérience de la compétition U-17 et 49 avaient déjà pris part à Chili L édition 2010 illustre l évolution des joueuses. La Suède a terminé première grâce à un jeu résolument offensif et à des contres en solitaire. La RDP Corée, vainqueur en 2006 et finaliste en 2008 a perdu 3-2 contre la Suède mais s est

14 12 Story of the tournament tout de même qualifiée. Le Brésil, habitué des quarts et des demies, a échoué dès le premier tour malgré le talent de ses joueuses. La Nouvelle-Zélande a inscrit un but dans chaque match. Le groupe C avec l Angleterre (finaliste du Championnat d Europe U-19 en 2010), le Japon (champion d Asie), le Nigeria et le Mexique, était très compétitif. Les quatre équipes comptaient un point après leur premier match. Puis le Nigeria, plus physique, a battu un Japon discipliné 2-1 tandis que le Mexique gagnait 1-0 contre l Angleterre. Il manquait alors un point au Japon pour atteindre les quarts de finale. Au bout du suspense, le Mexique a finalement terminé premier du groupe grâce à un but égalisateur en fin de match contre le Nigeria. Le groupe D a débuté par un coup d éclat africain. Le Ghana a mené contre les États-Unis, champions en 2008, avant que les Américaines égalisent en milieu de seconde période. Bien qu éliminées, les Ghanéennes ont impressionné par leur dynamisme et leur mobilité, avec ou sans ballon. Les Américaines ont redressé la barre lors des deux matches suivants pour terminer premières du groupe. La solide République de Corée, emmenée par JI So Yun (10), Soulier d Argent adidas, Ballon d Argent adidas et notamment auteur d un triplé, était une équipe impressionnante, produisant un jeu de passes fluide et attrayant. La Suisse a fini dernière du groupe malgré des progrès dans chaque match. Quarts de finale La RDP Corée a joué défensivement pour résister à la puissance physique et à la force technique des Allemandes. Mais les Asiatiques n ont pas été menaçantes et l Allemagne a dominé grâce à l efficacité de ses passes (2-0). Deux nouveau-venus aux styles similaires se sont affrontés en

15 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany quarts de finale, et c est la Colombie qui a pris le jeu à son compte et a battu la Suède 2-0 grâce à sa vitesse et à son impressionnant pressing. Par le passé, le Nigeria a atteint trois fois de suite les quarts de finale de la Coupe du Monde Féminine U-20 de la FIFA. Cette fois-ci, il retrouvait les États-Unis, champions du monde en titre. Menées 1-0 en première période, les Nigérianes sont revenues avec confiance et ont repris contrôle du match pour égaliser. Lors d une séance de tirs au but stressante, le Nigeria l a emporté 4-2. La République de Corée a quant à elle gagné son duel face au Mexique (3-1) grâce à sa bonne entente entre les lignes et à son jeu de passes fluide en attaque, tout en faisant preuve de discipline en défense. Le Mexique en revanche, mené de deux buts, a tenté de pratiquer un pressing plus rapide et de percer individuellement la défense, mais cela n a pas suffi. Demi-finales Allemagne République de Corée 5-1 (2-0) La forte pluie tombée avant le match n a pas empêché l Allemagne d assurer la victoire sur un score fleuve. Les Européennes ont immédiatement pris l initiative grâce à leur vitesse, leur réalisme offensif et leur solidité dans les duels. Les Sud-Coréennes ont éprouvé des difficultés à ressortir le ballon et dans le domaine physique, ne pouvant pas mettre en place leur jeu de passes. Cela a entraîné un déluge de buts, JI So Yun sauvant l honneur en inscrivant le seul but de son équipe à l heure de jeu. Colombie Nigeria 0-1 (0-1) Le Nigeria a joué avec confiance après avoir inscrit l unique but du match en tout début de match. Orji Ebere (8) a en effet marqué après seulement 1 32 de jeu, un record. La Colombie a ensuite eu des difficultés à imposer son jeu mais n a jamais abandonné et le Nigeria a dû défendre bec et ongles son but d avance. Le match s est achevé avec des occasions de part et d autre, mais sans but supplémentaire. Match pour la troisième place République Corée Colombie 1-0 (0-0) Tactiquement bien en place, la République de Corée a pris l initiative dès la première minute en imposant son jeu et s assurant la possession du ballon. JI So Yun (10) a de nouveau marqué l unique but du match grâce à son instinct offensif, sa vision du jeu et son sens de l anticipation. La Colombie n a pas su maintenir le niveau d engagement physique de ses précédents matches et, une fois menée au score, n a plus eu le temps de réagir. Finale Allemagne Nigeria 2-0 (1-0) Le Nigeria a bien marqué ses adversaires et a bien gardé le ballon. Les Africaines ont aussi montré des progrès dans la construction du jeu au moyen de courtes passes rapides, dans l intensité du jeu et dans la combativité. Dans le même temps, les Allemandes, menant 1-0 après le but à la 8 e minute d Alexandra Popp (11), son dixième du tournoi, ne parvenaient pas à aggraver le score. Au retour des vestiaires, les Africaines se sont montrées dangereuses dans l axe. De son côté, l Allemagne a démontré toute sa puissance aux tirs lointains et son efficacité sur coup de pied arrêté. Le deuxième but allemand a ainsi été marqué contre son camp par le Nigeria à la suite d un coup de pied de coin. Finalement, les Allemandes avaient tout d un champion du monde : force physique, technique et mentale la marque d une équipe solide. Une cérémonie de clôture fascinante a couronné le succès de la Coupe du Monde Féminine U-20 de la FIFA, Allemagne Il est encourageant de voir trois nouvelles équipes dans le dernier carré, ce qui confirme la naissance de nouvelles puissances au sein des confédérations dans cette catégorie d âge. Le Nigeria est la nouvelle référence du football féminin africain. Par ailleurs, le nombre record de spectateurs reflète l intérêt croissant pour cette discipline. Los equipos debutantes de Colombia, Costa Rica, Ghana y Suecia hicieron gala de gran desempeño futbolístico. Dos de ellos pasaron a la siguiente ronda, al clasificarse Suecia primera y Colombia segunda en sus respectivos grupos. Entre los 16 participantes, 13 equipos con excepción de México, Suecia y Suiza ya habían participado en la primera Copa Mundial Sub-17 de la FIFA en Nueva Zelanda en 2008, pasando seis de ellos a la fase eliminatoria en jugadoras se beneficiaron de la experiencia del Mundial sub- 17, mientras que 49 habían ya tomado parte en el Mundial sub-20 en Chile en La edición de 2010 del Mundial sub-20 demostró claramente el progreso y desarrollo de las jugadoras. El grupo A contó con el mayor número de seguidores que alentaron a las dueñas de casa. La potencia ofensiva de Alemania se reflejó en los 11 goles anotados, seis de ellos producto de la excelente goleadora Alexandra POPP (11), ganadora de la Bota de Oro y del Balón de Oro de adidas. En este grupo, Francia y Colombia tenían la posibilidad de acompañar a la anfitriona a la siguiente ronda; sin embargo, fue Colombia quien deparara la sorpresa, pasando adelante por un gol de diferencia frente a Francia. A pesar de que no obtuvo ningún punto, Costa Rica resultó ser el único equipo que logró anotar dos goles contra Alemania. El grupo B deparó igualmente algunas sorpresas. Suecia estuvo en condición de clasificarse como primera del grupo con sus audaces y hábiles maniobras solistas, mientras que la RDP de Corea, campeona en 2006 y vicecampeona en 2008, perdió el último choque contra Suecia por 3 a 2, debido a un autogol, finalizando no obstante en el segundo puesto. Brasil por tradición siempre en cuartos de final y tres veces en semifinales no se clasificó para la siguiente ronda. Nueva Zelanda combatió con bravura, pero en vano para obtener un punto, pudiendo, no obstante, marcar un gol en cada encuentro. El grupo C, compuesto por Inglaterra, vicecampeona en el campeonato europeo femenino sub-19 de 2010, Japón, campeón asiático, Nigeria y México, resultó ser un grupo sumamente parejo. Los cuatro equipos empataron su primer encuentro. Nigeria, con mayor potencia física, derrotó luego por 2 a 1 a un Japón muy organizado y capaz, mientras que México batía a Inglaterra por 1 a 0 en el segundo choque. Finalmente, a Japón le faltó un punto para clasificarse, resultado que dependió del choque entre México y Nigeria, en el

Ghana se adelantó contra EE UU, el campeón de 2008, y debió conceder el empate recién en la última parte del segundo tiempo. Si bien las africanas no lograron clasificarse, dieron prueba de su increíble velocidad de maniobras con y sin el balón. EE UU ganó sus siguientes sin recibir goles y se puso a la cabeza del grupo. Con un sólido desempeño, y dirigida por JI So Yun (10), ganadora de la Bota de Plata y del Balón de Plata de adidas, así como autora de la primera tripleta en este torneo, la República de Corea fue una escuadra llamativa, con extraordinaria circulación de balón y exquisito fútbol. Si bien Suiza mejorara de partido en partido, no pudo evitar su suerte y finalizó como última del grupo. Cuartos de final La RDP de Corea planteó un cauteloso juego defensivo para neutralizar las maniobras de las alemanas, físicamente potentes y técnicamente hábiles, limitando su despliegue ofensivo a meros remates de distancia. Alemania asumió pronto el dictado del juego y ganó merecidamente por 2 a 0. En el otro encuentro de cuartos de final, se enfrentaron dos debutantes con similar estilo de juego. Colombia asumió la batuta y arrasó a Suecia con su juego veloz y agresivo pressing, clasificándose con un 2 a 0 para semifinales. En los últimos Mundiales sub-20, Nigeria había pasado a cuartos de final tres veces consecutivas, debiendo enfrentar ahora al campeón saliente EE UU. Tras ir perdiendo por 1 a 0 en la primera mitad, las africanas salieron con mayor confianza y determinación en el segundo tiempo, lo cual les aportó la paridad. En una emocionante definición por penales, Nigeria derrotó por 4 a 2 a EE UU. La República de Corea dominó el choque contra México merced a un perfecto engranaje de líneas, excelente toque de balón en el ataque y gran disciplina en la defensa. Tras ir perdiendo por 2 a 0, las mexicanas presionaron y contragolpearon más, pero ello no fue suficiente para proseguir a semifinales. Las coreanas ganaron por 3 a 1. Colombia - Nigeria 0-1 (0-1) Nigeria se desempeñó con gran confianza luego de anotar el gol más rápido del torneo tras únicamente 92 segundos por intermedio de Ebere ORJI (8). A pesar de tener dificultades con su juego de toques, Colombia nunca cedió y se defendió ante Nigeria con uñas y dientes. Hubo numerosas oportunidades de gol de ambas partes, pero ninguno de los equipos logró anotar otro tanto más. Partido por el tercer puesto República de Corea - Colombia 1-0 (0-0) El conjunto coreano tomó inmediatamente la iniciativa con un juego posicional perfectamente organizado, y manteniendo con precisión el balón. Con su extraordinario olfato de gol, visión de juego y hábil anticipación en la recepción de la pelota, JI So Yun (10) volvió a marcar el único tanto del encuentro. Colombia no estuvo a la altura de sus partidos anteriores hasta conceder el gol. Luego apretó más y se infiltró con mayor determinación en el área adversaria, pero ya era demasiado tarde para voltear el resultado. En la segunda mitad, las alemanas salieron ejerciendo mayor presión por el medio y creando peligro con remates de distancia y jugadas estudiadas. Su segundo tanto fue un autogol de Nigeria en un saque de esquina. Alemania dispuso de todos los atributos físicos, mentales, técnicos y tácticos que requiere una escuadra potente y campeona mundial. Una fascinante ceremonia de clausura coronó la exitosa Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 Alemania Fue alentador ver a tres nuevos equipos en las semifinales, lo cual refleja el surgimiento de nuevas potencias en las confederaciones en esta categoría de edad. La vicecampeona Nigeria será, sin duda alguna, un estímulo para el fútbol femenino en África. Asimismo, el nuevo récord de espectadores demuestra el creciente interés profesado por el fútbol femenino. 19 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup Germany Turnierverlauf Autorin: Betty Wong Gruppenphase Zwei Tage nach dem Finale der FIFA Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft 2010 rückte der Frauenfussball in den Blickpunkt des Weltinteresses. Mit der FIFA U-20-Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft Deutschland 2010 begann gleichzeitig der Countdown zur FIFA Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft. Nach der FIFA U-17-Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft im September in Trinidad und Tobago wird vom 26. Juni bis 17. Juli 2011 in Deutschland der grösste Frauenwettbewerb der FIFA über die Bühne gehen. Diese U-20-Weltmeisterschaft war Teil der Planungs-, Vorbereitungs- und Testphase, und die Deutschen haben einmal mehr bewiesen, was für warmherzige und freundliche Gastgeber sie sind. Die vier Stadien in den Spielorten Augsburg, Bochum, Bielefeld und Dresden boten den 16 Teams eine ideale Kulisse, während die zahlreichen Zuschauer aus aller Welt (insgesamt bei den 32 Spielen) für beste Stimmung sorgten. Die offizielle Eröffnungsfeier in Bochum bot eine grossartige Show. Rund 300 einheimische Mitwirkende und ein farbenfrohes Programm mit Musik, Akrobatik, Tanz und Fussball sorgten für einen spektakulären Turnierauftakt. Beim Eröffnungsspiel folgte dann der erste Auftritt von Karla Kick, die als offizielles Maskottchen der FIFA Frauen- Weltmeisterschaft Deutschland 2011 alle Facetten des Frauenfussballs wie Leidenschaft, Freude und Dynamik verkörpert. Mit Kolumbien, Costa Rica, Ghana und Schweden waren vier Debütanten am Start, die alle eine sehr gute Leistung boten. Zwei zogen gar ins Viertelfinale ein (Schweden als Gruppenerster und Kolumbien als Gruppenzweiter). Von den 16 Teams waren nur Mexiko, Schweden und die Schweiz bei der ersten FIFA U-17-Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft 2008 in Neuseeland nicht dabei. Sechs der 13 Teams, die schon 2008 dabei waren, zogen 2010 in die zweite Runde ein. Insgesamt 126 Spielerinnen standen schon bei der U-17-WM im Einsatz, 49 Spielerinnen 2008 bei der U-20-Weltmeisterschaft in Chile. Das Turnier 2010 belegte die Fortschritte und Entwicklung der Spielerinnen. Die Gruppe A mit Gastgeber Deutschland zog die meisten Besucher an, die von ihrem Team besten Angriffsfussball zu sehen bekamen. Elf Tore schossen die deutschen Spielerinnen, sechs davon allein die beeindruckende Stürmerin Alexandra Popp (11), die am Ende des Turniers sowohl mit dem Goldenen Schuh als auch dem Goldenen Ball von adidas ausgezeichnet wurde. Um Platz zwei in der Gruppe kämpften Frankreich und Kolumbien. Dank einer packenden Aufholjagd zogen die Südamerikanerinnen dank der besseren Tordifferenz schliesslich noch an Frankreich vorbei. Costa Rica blieb letztlich ohne Punkte, war aber das einzige Team, das gegen Deutschland zwei Tore erzielte. Die Gruppe B hielt einige Überraschungen bereit. Schweden sicherte sich mit seinem beherzten Angriffsspiel und seinen überraschenden Sololäufen den Gruppensieg. Die DVR Korea, Weltmeister von 2006 und Vizeweltmeister von 2008, musste sich den Schwedinnen im letzten Gruppenspiel nach einem unglücklichen Eigentor 2:3 geschlagen geben, kam als Gruppenzweiter aber dennoch weiter. Die talentierten Brasilianerinnen, die regelmässig das Viertelfinale erreichen und schon dreimal im Halbfinale standen, schafften es diesmal nicht in die zweite Runde. Neuseeland schlug sich wacker, blieb trotz eines Torerfolgs in jedem Spiel aber ohne Punkte. Die Gruppe C mit England (Zweiter bei der U-19-Europameisterschaft 2010), Asienmeister Japan, Nigeria und Mexiko war sehr umstritten. Alle vier Teams sicherten sich im ersten Spiel je einen Punkt. Die physisch sehr starken Nigerianerinnen schlugen danach die gut organisierten, technisch versierten Japanerinnen mit 2:1, während Mexiko England mit 1:0 bezwang. In den abschliessenden Spielen stand Japan bereits mit einem Bein im Viertelfinale, bis die Mexikanerinnen kurz vor Schluss gegen Nigeria noch zum Ausgleich

In der Gruppe D unterstrich Ghana zum Auftakt gegen die USA die markanten Fortschritte des afrikanischen Frauenfussballs. Die Afrikanerinnen gingen gegen den Weltmeister von 2008 prompt in Führung und mussten erst zur Mitte der zweiten Halbzeit den Ausgleich hinnehmen. Auch wenn sie das Viertelfinale letztlich verpassten, vermochten die Westafrikanerinnen mit ihrem schnellen Spiel mit und ohne Ball zu überzeugen. Die USA gaben sich in den beiden anderen Spielen keine Blösse und holten sich Rang eins. Das renommierte Team aus der Republik Korea unter der Leitung von Ji So Yun (10), die den ersten Hattrick des Turniers erzielte und sowohl mit dem Silbernen Schuh als auch dem Silbernen Ball von adidas ausgezeichnet wurde, überzeugte mit einer beeindruckenden Teamleistung, Ballsicherheit und einem attraktiven Spiel. Die Schweiz vermochte sich zwar mit jedem Spiel zu steigern, kam aber dennoch nicht über den letzten Platz hinaus. Viertelfinale einem packenden Elfmeterschiessen hatten sie mit 4:2 letztlich das bessere Ende für sich. Im letzten Viertelfinale war die Republik Korea Mexiko mit ihrem guten Kombinationsspiel zwischen den Linien, ihrem hervorragenden Passspiel im Angriff und ihrer Abwehrdisziplin überlegen. Die Mexikanerinnen, die schon in der ersten Halbzeit zwei Gegentore hinnehmen mussten, erhöhten in der zweiten Halbzeit den Druck und suchten ihr Heil mehr und mehr in Einzelaktionen. Dennoch mussten sie sich 1:3 geschlagen geben. Halbfinale Deutschland Republik Korea 5:1 (2:0) Auch die schweren Regenfälle vor dem Spiel vermochten den deutschen Siegeszug nicht zu stoppen. Die Gastgeberinnen übernahmen mit ihren schnellen, wirkungsvollen Angriffen und ihrer Zweikampfstärke sofort die Initiative. Die Republik Korea hatte trotz ihrer beeindruckenden Ballkontrolle sichtlich Mühe, den physisch starken Deutschen Paroli zu bieten, und wurde letztlich regelrecht überfahren. Ji So Yun bewies einmal mehr ihre individuelle Klasse und erzielte den einzigen koreanischen Treffer. Die DVR Korea spielte gegen die technisch und physisch starken Deutschen überaus defensiv und entwickelte abgesehen von einigen Distanzschüssen daher kaum Offensivgefahr.
