Th motor s drctly attachd to th pump mpllr. As th lctrc motor turns t causs th mpllr to turn and ths causs th watr to flow. Bfor rpostonng valvs and bfor bgnnng th assmbly, dsassmbly, or adjustmnt of th clamp or any othr srvc of th crculatng systm: (a) Turn th pump off and shut off any automatc controls to nsur th systm s not nadvrtntly startd durng th srvcng; (b) Opn manual ar rlf valv; (c) Wat untl all prssur s rlvd, prssur gaug must rad zro (0). 2. Mantan crculaton systm proprly. Rplac worn or damagd parts mmdatly (.g., clamp, prssur gaug, rlf valv, o-rngs, tc.). 5. B sur that th fltr s proprly mountd and postond accordng to nstructons provdd. Valv Poston and Watr Flow Drctons FILTER: From pump, through valv, downward through fltr sand bd, up through cntr pp to valv rturn port, and back to th pool for normal fltr acton and vacuumng pool through fltr. BACKWASH: From pump, through valv, down through cntr pp, up through fltr sand to valv, and out wastport. Ths poston s usd for clanng fltr by rvrsng flow. RINSE: From pump, through valv, downward through fltr sand, up through cntr pp to valv and out wast port. Ths poston s usd for start up clanng and rsttlng fltr bd aftr backwashng. WASTE: From pump, through valv, bypasss fltr and gos to wastport. Ths poston s for vacuumng drctly to wast, lowrng pool lvl, or dranng pool. Th pool watr must b santzd and th watr must b balancd for sparklng clar watr. Pool chmstry s a spcalzd ara and you should consult your local pool srvc spcalst for spcfc dtals. In gnral propr pool santaton rqurs a fr chlorn lvl of 1 to 2 PPM and a ph rang of 7.2 to 7.6. Your fltraton systm should b dsgnd to mt your local halth cods. As a mnmum, you must b sur that your systm wll turnovr th total volum of watr n your pool at last twc n a twnty-four (24) hour prod. Falur to oprat your fltr systm or nadquat fltraton can caus poor watr clarty obstructng vsblty n your pool and can allow dvng nto or on top of obscurd objcts, whch can caus srous prsonal njury or drownng. Scton 2 Installaton 1. Rad and undrstand all nstructons bfor attmptng to nstall, oprat, or mantan your pump and sand fltr systm. 2. Provd spac and lghtng for routn mantnanc accss. Locat th systm clos to th pool. S Fgur 1 for typcal nstallaton. Not: Install lctrcal controls (.g., on/off swtchs, tmrs, control systms, tc.) at last fv (5) ft from th fltr. Ths wll allow you nough room to stand clar of th fltr durng systm start up. Systms that ar unassmbld should b assmbld at ths pont. S spcal nstructons A through G. A. Mak sur all lctrcal brakrs and swtchs to th pump ar swtchd off, and dsconnct th communcaton cabl from th pump bfor nstallng th bas. B. B crtan to nstall th prcs amount of fltr sand lstd on your fltr namplat. You must us only No. 20 standard slca sand havng a unformty coffcnt of 1.75 or lss. No. 20 slca sand has a partcl sz of nchs (.45 to.55mm). Bfor pourng th sand nto th fltr, look nsd and chck th lowr undr dran for brokn or loos latrals (or fngrs), whch may hav bn accdntally damagd by rough handlng durng shpmnt. Rplac any parts as ncssary. 5. Install th sand gud n th top of th fltr and fll th tank about half full of watr. Pour th sand nto th top of th fltr at a slow rat so that th wght of th sand dos not damag th latrals. Aftr th rqurd amount of sand has bn nstalld, rmov and dscard th sand gud. Us only salant compounds sutd for plastc pp. Support pp to prvnt strans on fltr, pump, or valv. DO NOT USE PETROLEUM BASE PRODUCTS. NOTICE: All valv ntrnal thrads ar taprd xcpt th ar bldr conncton. Do not ovr tghtn taprd thradd conncton. 13. Install prssur gaug n ¼ NPT port drctly across from th pump port of th valv. 14. Nvr stor pool chmcals wthn 10 ft of your pool fltr, pump, or valv. Pool chmcals should b stord n a cool, dry, wll vntlatd ara. Chmcal fums and/or splls can caus srous corroson to th fltr and pump structural componnts. Structurally waknd componnts can caus fltr, pump or valv attachmnts to sparat and could caus srous bodly njury or proprty damag. Th systm s cntrfugal pump oprats wth lctrcal voltag, and can gnrat both vacuum and prssur n th watr systm. Whn proprly wrd and plumbd, ths pump wll oprat n a saf mannr. Swtch off pump and opn ar bldr to rlv all ntrnal prssur. 2. St valv handl to Wntrz poston. 3. Rmov th sx (6) covr scrws, washrs and nuts. 4. Lft off valv top and dvrtr assmbly.
