The Lynwood PTA has a wonderful way for you to support our library... The Gift Book Club. When you make a donation of $20.00, the library will buy a book and dedicate it to your child or whomever you wish. The library will put a bookplate inside honoring your child's birthday or whatever occasion you choose. The book becomes part of the library and your child will be the first person to check it out. As we all know, the current state economy has caused a decrease in funding to schools. Because of this, there is less money for school libraries to purchase new books. This is a year in which we could benefit greatly from families donating to the Gift Book Club. So look for the form in the Friday folder every other month to be a part of the Gift Book Club. We have lots of new news to share on a variety of topics, as well as important reminders for our families. Thanks for your support. We are off to a great start this year. Playground Structure Update: We have been advised that laying the rubber matting and cleanup work on the three new playground structures will be completed by September 16. Thanks for your patience. Thank you Parents! We are grateful that parents and guardians are waiting patiently to pick up students at the front or rear of the school, and not by the classrooms. Instructional time is extremely valuable and your cooperation helps us to maximize every minute! Thanks again. Yard Supervision: We are still in need of additional yard supervisors. If you are interested, please inquire in the Office. Grant News:

3 Page 3 of 7 In last week's Tiger Tales, I announced that the Marin Community Foundation awarded Lynwood $230, for an Early Success Grant to support students in grades Pre K - 3. The team of teachers, parents, administrators and community partners who wrote the grant will be meeting next week to make plans for the new pre-school to be opened at Lynwood. We anticipate the new program will start in early October. Getting to School on Time: It is so important to start good habits in the earliest grades. Establishing good habits and modeling for your children is crucial to their success in school. We expect all students to arrive on time to class every day. Be sure that you are dropping your student(s) off no later than 8:25 am in the morning. Traffic Flow to Change in late September: Beginning in Monday, September 20 we will be piloting a new traffic pattern for the Lynwood early morning drop off and late afternoon pick up. Traffic will enter from Leafwood, flow through the parking lot, and exit past the office to Lynwood Drive during the two peak times in the morning and afternoon only. We will be discussing the details in several upcoming meetings. Please join us. At our recent ELAC meeting, attended by nearly 30 parents, this new plan was strongly endorsed. Leadership - Monday, September 13, 4:30 pm PTA - Monday, September 13, 6:30 pm Reminders: Front of School - Student Drop off only! Please use the white curb area only as a student drop off zone. This is not a parking area. Help us with the flow of traffic by quickly dropping students off. If you have business in the office or with a teacher, please park in the parking lot.
