2 Estimados padres: Celebración de Actividad de la Puertorriqueñidad Fecha: 18 de noviembre de 2014 Lugar: Centro de Bellas Artes de Juana Díaz Hora: 9:00 am La cultura puertorriqueña es una muy diversa y rica en tradiciones y costumbres. Esta diversidad se la debemos a distintos acontecimientos históricos en nuestra historia como país que nos permitieron gozar de la influencia de otras etnias. Siempre se nos ha enseñado que nuestras raíces son el indio taíno, el español y los africanos. Sin embargo, poca relevancia se la otorgado al legado africano en nuestra cultura. En Washburn, estamos comprometidos con una educación integral y a pesar de ser una escuela de inmersión en inglés no perdemos de perspectiva nuestra cultura puertorriqueña. Es por esto que este año nuestra actividad de la puertorriqueñidad estará enfocada en el legado africano. La misma llevará por nombre Y tu abuela, a onde está?. Durante la celebración, se presentarán varios renglones en donde veremos cuan marcado es el legado africano en Puerto Rico. Estas serán trabajadas por salones hogares y están divididas de la siguiente manera: Ritmo y Baile - Pre-kinder, Kinder y Primer grado Instrumentos Musicales - Segundo grado Vestimenta - Tercero y Cuarto grado Historias y relatos presentados a través de la poesía negroide - Quinto y Sexto grado Costumbres y tradiciones recogidas en una pequeña obra -Intermedia y Superior Artes- Taller Estudio Frankie Rodríguez con los estudiantes del curso en el colegio Los maestros de cada salón hogar estarán ofreciendo más detalles próximamente. La razón para que sea celebrada durante el primer semestre es que tenemos la meta de llevar representación de nuestro colegio a la Feria Científica de Distrito de Ponce la cual se celebra para el mes de febrero.
