4 Introduction FS-800 FS-1200 FS-1200T The COLOP FS-800, FS-1200 and FS-1200T Flash Machines are microprocessor controlled exposure s ystem s for quick and eas y exposure of flash foam die plates. After placing the draft sheet and a clear protective film into the machine, the foam can be positioned. Closing the lid applies even and precise pressure and automatically starts the flash process. The thermo sensitive flash foam is exposed by flash light. Now the flash foam is ready for assembly in a pre-inked EOS cartridge. 5 Product safety instructions Before putting the Flash Machine into operation for the first time, read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. Environmental conditions - The Flash Machine may only be used in closed and dry areas. - The Flash Machine may not be used in explosive environments. - Place the Flash Machine on a stable, even and clean surface. - Make sure that the Flash Machine is not directly exposed to heat sources or equipment that may generate excessive vibration, dust or moisture. - To prevent condensation inside the Flash Machine avoid exposing it to sudden temperature changes. Power conditions - Operate the Flash Machine only with a power source that meets the specifications indicated on the label at the back of the machine. - Use the Flash Machine with grounded power sources only and make sure that the power socket is accessible at all times. - Do not overload power sockets, extension cords or surge protectors with other devices as this can result in a risk of fire or electrical shock. - Power supply cords must be routed in a way that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed against them. Immediately exchange the power supply cord if any damages are observed. Operation and modification - Always disconnect the Flash Machine from the power supply before carrying out any installation, maintenance or repair procedures. - If the Flash Machine shows obvious damages, immediately disconnect it from the power supply and must not be used anym ore. - Do not insert any objects into the machine body. EN The Flash Machine is equipped with safety features that will p rotect the user (anti-shock protection, thermal protection and unintentional exposure) under normal operating conditions. - Never modif y or bridge any of the safety features. Serious injuries due to a n electric shock or unintentional flash could be the conse quence. - Do not use any attachments ( distance plates, glass plates etc.) that are not recommended or supplied by COLOP as this may cause hazards. CAUTION: Never dismantle the machine body! Due to the capacitors very high voltages may be inside the machine. Electrical repairs may only be carried out by an authorized technician! 5

6 Shipment and installation Please check the packaging on damages and completeness. In case of transport damages contact your supplier immediately. Shipment Along with the Flash Machine following parts are delivered: - Power cable - 9 mm distance plate (mounted in the machine) - 3 mm distance plate - Manual - EOS T ypesetting Tool CD-Rom (optional) Installation Place the Flash Machine on a stable, even and clean surface. Use the supplied power ca ble to connect it to a grounded power outlet. Switch on the machine using the main switch on the lower front side of the Flash Machine. Please note: Referring to the product safety in structions, please find detailed information about the operating c onditions on page 12. In case of storage or transport under c onditions which differ from the prescribed operating conditions, please keep an acclimatisation time of at least 3 hours. EOS Typesetting Tool (optional) To use the EOS Typesetting Tool simply insert the CD in your computer. The EOS Typesetting T ool will launch automatically. Further information on the EOS T ypesetting Tool is provided on the CD. 6

7 Controls and functions Power plug The power plug is located on the back of the Flash Machine. It allows the use of grounded power cables only. The fuse holder is located underneath the power plug. This contains the fuse that provides overload protection for the Flash Machine. power plug fuse Main switch The main switch is located on the front of the Flash Machine. Use it to switch the machine on and off. The green status LED indicates that the machine is on and ready for operation. main switch Lid The lid has two main functions. Upon closure it applies the pressure that is required for a proper exposure and it automatically starts the flash process. Due to safety reasons the flash process will not start if there is no foam loaded or the lid is in open position. EN CAUTION: Remove hands from the exposure area before closing the lid (ris k of crushing)! Distance plates The distance plate is mounted on the lid with a magnet for simple exchange. Always check if the correct distance plate is inserted before closing the lid to expose a flash foam. Using the wrong distance plates can cause da mage on the flash foam or on the machine. 7

8 Please note: Note that the distance plates in the FS and FS-1200T Flash Machines are larger than in the FS-800. The handling is the same. 9 Status LEDs The LEDs inform the user about the current status of the Flash Machine. Description green LED on The Flash Machine is ready for operation. green LED flashing The green LED flashing indicates the finish of the flash process. You can open the lid now. green and red LED flashing alternately If the green and red LED are flashing alternately the temperature limit will be reached soon. You can do one more stamp but it is recommended to let the Flash Machine cool down. EN red LED on The temperature limit is reached and further operation is blocked until the Flash Machine has cooled down. red LED flashing The red LED flashing indicates an error. Switch off the Flash Machine and wait for 3 minutes. Then switch it on again. If the problem remains, please contact your COLOP distributor. 9

10 Operation The production of a text plate with the Flash Machine requires only a few simple steps. The pictures show an EOS 30 flash foam as an example, but the process is mostly the same for other EOS stamps. 1. Switch on the machine using the main switch on the lower front side of Flash Machine. The green LED is on. 2. Open the Lid and make sure that the correct distance plate is in place. (Please refer to the chapter D istance plates for detailed information which distance plate must be used for your flash foam.) 3. Place the Vellum paper on the glass with the printed side facing up. (The artwork should be printed with a laser printer using 600 DPI. A high density of toner is important to block the light of the print areas.) 4. Cover the Vellum paper with Clear Film. (This is to avoid toner pollution on the flash foam.) 10

11 5. Place the flash foam on the artwork using the positioning marks. (Note the small shoulder on EOS Standard flash foams. This side is the back side and must be facing up.) 6. Close the Lid. The flash process will start automatically. (The FS-800 will expose the foam with four flashes, the FS-1200 and FS-1200T will produce six flashes.) Please note: For EOS XL open and close lid to start a second flash cycle. 7. Open the lid and take out the foam, Vellum paper and Clear Film. (Do not reuse Vellum paper or Clear Film.) EN 8. 12 Maintenance Please observe the following cleaning tips: Cleaning of the exposure glass It is very important to keep the glass clean and dust free. This will prevent any possibility of foreign objects interfering with producing a properly exposed stamp die. Clean the glass with a soft towel only. Do not use any liquids or sprays. Cleaning of the machine body W ipe the surface of the machine with a soft towel only. Do not use any liquids or sprays to clean the unit. This may cause damage to the casing parts. 14 Einführung FS-800 FS-1200 FS-1200T Die COLOP FS-800, FS-1200 und FS-1200T Flash Maschinen sind mikroprozessorgesteuerte Belichtungss ystem e für die schnelle und einfac he Herstellung von Flash Textplatten. Nach dem Einlegen des Vellum -Papiers und der Abdeckfolie in die Maschine, kann das Flashmaterial positioniert werden. Das Schließen des Deckels erzeugt einen gleichmäßigen und präzisen Druck und löst den Flash -Vorgang automatisch aus. Damit wird das wärmeempfindliche Flashmaterial belichtet. Die belichtete Textplatte kann nun auf einem vorgetränkten EOS Kissen montiert werden. Um die Anleitung so kurz wie möglich zu halten, werden alle drei Modelle vereinfacht als Flash Maschine bezeichnet. Bilder zeigen nur das Modell FS-800. 15 Sicherheitshinweise Bitte lesen Sie dieses Handbuch vor der erstmaligen Inbetriebnahme der Flash Maschine und bewahren Sie es sorgfältig auf. Umgebungsbedingungen - Das Gerät darf nur in geschlossenen, trockenen Räumen betrieben werden. - Die Flash Maschine darf nicht in Explosionszonen betrieben werden. - Stellen Sie die Flash Maschine auf eine stabile, ebene und saubere Oberfläche. - Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die Flash Maschine keiner direkten Hitzeeinwirkung und keinen Geräten, welche übermäßige Vibrationen, Staub, Feuchtigkeit oder W ärme erzeugen, ausgesetzt ist. - Schützen Sie die Flash Maschine vor plötzlichen Temperaturschwankungen um die Bildung von Kondenswasser zu vermeiden. Technische Voraussetzungen - Betreiben Sie die Flash Maschine ausschließlich mit einer Stromquelle, die den Spezifikationen am Etikett auf der Rückseite der Maschine entspricht. - Verwenden Sie für die Flash Maschine nur geerdete Stromquellen und stellen Sie sicher, dass die Steckdose jederzeit frei zugänglich ist. - Vermeiden Sie eine Überlastung von Steckdosen, Verlängerungskabel oder Überspannungsschutzstecker durch andere Geräte, um die Gefahr eines Brandes oder elektrischen Schlags zu vermeiden. - Das Netzk abel muss so verlegt werden, dass keine Gefahr besteht darauf zu treten oder es durch Gegenstände einzuklemmen. Bei Schäden am Netzkabel muss dieses sofort ersetzt werden. Betrieb und Modifikationen - Die Einrichtungs-, Instandhaltungs-, Reparatur-, Reinigungs- und W artungsarbeiten dürfen nur bei gezogenem Netzstecker durchgeführt werden. - W enn das Gerät offensichtliche Beschädigungen aufweist, ist es vom Netz zu trennen und darf nicht mehr verwendet werden. - Führen Sie keine Teile ins Innere des Geräts ein. Die Flash Maschine ist mit Sicherheitseinrichtungen ausgestattet um den Benutzer im normalen Betrieb vor etwaigen Gefahren zu schützen (Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag, Hitze und versehentlicher Belichtung ). - Verändern oder überbrücken Sie niemals die Sicherheits einrichtungen der Flash Maschine. Dies kann schwere Verletzungen durch elektrischen Schlag oder einen versehentlich ausgelösten Blitz zu Folge haben! - Verwenden Sie kein Zubehör (Distanzplatten, Glasscheiben usw.), welches nicht ausdrücklich von COLOP empfohlen oder geliefert wird, um Gefährdungen und Beschädigungen zu vermeiden. DE o r i g i n a l ACHTUNG: Öffnen Sie niemals das Gehäuse der Maschine! Durch die Kondensatoren treten im inneren der Mas chine sehr hohe Spannungen auf. Reparaturen dürfen nur von einem autorisierten Techniker durchgeführt werden. 15

16 Lieferumfang und Installation Bitte kontrollieren Sie die Versand - und Geräteverpackung auf Beschädigungen und prüfen Sie, ob der Packungsinhalt vollständig ist. Bei Transportschäden ben achrichtigen Sie bitte umgehend Ihren Lieferanten. Lieferumfang Die Flash Maschine wird mit folgendem Zubehör geliefert: - Netzkabel - 9 mm Distanzplatte (montiert in der Maschine) - 3 mm Distanzplatte - Bedienungsanleitung - EOS T ypesetting Tool CD-Rom (optional) Installation Stellen Sie die Flash Maschine auf eine stabile, ebene und saubere Oberfläche. Verwenden Sie das mitgelieferte Netzkabel, um die Maschine mit einer geerdeten Steckdose zu verbinden. Zum Einschalten der Flash Maschine betätigen Sie den Hauptschalter an der Vorderseite. Hinweis: Lesen Sie die Informationen auf Seite 15 und 22 für detaillierte Informationen zu den Betriebsbedingungen. Nach Lag erung oder Transport, unter Bedingungen, welche von den beschriebenen Betriebsbedingungen abweichen, ist vor der Inbetriebnahme ein Akklimatisationszeitraum von mindestens 3 Stunden einzuhalten. EOS Typesetting Tool (optional) Um das EOS Typesetting Tool zu verwenden legen Sie einfach die mitgelieferte CD in Ihren Computer. Das EOS Typesetting Tool wird automatisch gestartet Detaillierte Informationen zum EOS Typesetting Tool finden Sie auf der CD. 16

17 Bedienelemente und Funktionen Netzstecker Der Netzsteckeranschluss befindet sich auf der Rückseite der Flash Maschine und ist ausschließlich für die Verwendung mit geerdeten Kabeln ausgelegt. Die Gerätesicherung befindet sich unterhalb des Netzsteckeranschlusses. Diese Sicherung schützt Maschine vor Überlastung. Netzstecker Sicherung Hauptschalter Der Hauptschalter befindet sich an der Vorderseite der Flash Maschine. Verwenden Sie ihn um die Maschine ein- und auszuschalten. Die grüne Status LED zeigt an, dass die Maschine eingeschaltet und betriebsbereit ist. Hauptschalter Deckel Der Deckel hat zwei Funktionen. Er erzeugt gleichmäßigen Druck auf das Flashmaterial, was für eine ordnungsgemäße Belichtung nötig ist, und löst die Belichtung beim Schließen automatisch aus. Aus Sicherheitsgründen startet der Flashvorgang nicht, wenn sich k ein Flashmaterial in der Maschine befindet oder der Deckel geöffnet ist. ACHTUNG: Entfernen Sie beim Schließen des Deckels die Hand von der Arbeitsbzw. Belichtungsfläche (Quetschgefahr)! DE o r i g i n a l Distanzplatten Die Distanzplatte ist mit einem Magnet im Deck el befestigt, wodurch ein einfacher W echsel ermöglicht wird. Bevor Sie den Deckel schließen stellen Sie sicher, dass die korrekte Distanzplatte montiert ist. Das Verwenden einer falschen Distanzplatte kann Schäden am Flashmaterial und an der Maschine verur sachen. 17

18 Hinweis: Beachten Sie, dass die Distanzplatten der Modelle FS und FS- 1200T größer als die des Modells FS-800 sind. Die Handhabung ist die gleiche. 19 Status LEDs Die Status-LEDs informieren den Benutzer über den aktuellen Betriebs zustand der Flash Maschine. 20 Bedienung Die Produktion von Textplatten mit der Flash Maschine erfordert nur wenige einfache Schritte. Die nachfolgenden Bilder zeigen den Prozess anhand eines EOS 30 (der Prozess ist aber für fast alle EOS Größen gleic h): 1. Schalten Sie die Flash Maschine mit dem Hauptschalter an der Vorderseite der Maschine ein. Die grüne Status-LED leuchtet auf. 2. Öffnen Sie den Deckel und stellen Sie sicher, dass die korrekte Distanzplatte am Deckel befestigt ist. (Detaillierte Informationen, welche Distanzplatte für welche EOS Größe verwendet werden muss, entnehmen Sie bitte dem Kapitel Distanzplatten.) 3. Legen Sie das Vellum -Papier mit der bedruckten Seite nach oben auf das Belichtungsglas. (Die verwendete Vorlage sollte eine Auflösung von 600 DPI haben und mit einem Laserdrucker ausgedruckt werden; Eine hohe Tonerdichte ist wichtig um das Licht im Druckbereich ausreichend zu blockieren.) 4. Legen Sie die Abdeckfolie auf das Vellum -Papier. (Dies verhindert eine Verunreinigung des Flashmaterials durch den Toner.) 20

21 5. Verwenden Sie die Positionierungslinien um das Flashmaterial auf der Vorlage zu positionieren. (Achten Sie auf den Rand des EOS Flashmaterials. Diese Seite ist die Rückseite und muss nach oben zeigen.) 6. Schließen Sie den Deckel. Der Flashvorgang wird automatisch ausgelöst. (Das Modell FS-800 belichtet das Flashmaterial mit 4 Blitzen, die Modelle FS-1200 und FS-1200T mit 6 Blitzen.) Hinweis: Zum Belichten von EOS XL Textplatten öffnen und schließen Sie die Klapp e ein zweites Mal! 7. Öffnen Sie den Deckel und entnehmen Sie die belichtete Textplatte, das Vellum -Papier sowie die Abdeckfolie (Vellum Papier und Abdeckfolie sind nur einmal zu verwenden.) 8. 22 Wartung Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Reinigungshinweise: Reinigung des Belichtungsglases Es ist äußerst wichtig, das Belichtungsglas sauber und staubfrei zu halten. Dadurch wird vermieden, dass Fremdkörper die ordnungsgemäße Belichtung der Textplatte negativ beeinflussen. Reinigen Sie das Glas ausschließlich mit einem weichen Tuch. Verwenden Sie dabei keinerlei Flüssigkeiten oder Sprays. Reinigung des Gehäuses Reinigen Sie die Oberfläche der Maschine nur mit einem weichen Tuch. Verwenden Sie keine Flüssigkeiten oder S prays zur Reinigung des Gerätes um Schäden an den Gehäuseteilen zu vermeiden. 24 Introduction FS-800 FS-1200 FS-1200T Les Machines Flash COLOP FS-800, FS-1200 et FS-1200T sont des s ystèmes d'exposition contrôlées par microprocesseurs pour une exposition rapide et facile des plaques de mousse à flasher. Après avoir inséré la feuille et un film protecteur transparent dans l'appareil, il est possible de placer la mousse. La fermeture du capot assure une pression uniforme et précise et lance automatiquement le processus flash. Le flash expose la mousse flash thermo-sensitive. 25 Consignes de sécurité du produit Avant la première mise en service de la machine flash, lisez attentivement ce manuel et conservez-le pour vous y référer ultérieurement. Conditions environnementales - La machine flash peut être uniquement utilisée en intérieure dans un environnement sec. - La machine flash ne peut pas être utili sée dans des environnements explosifs. - Posez l'appareil sur une surface plane, stable et propre. - Ce produit ne doit pas être utilisé à proximité de sources de chaleur et d autres équipements pouvant générer des vibrations, de la poussière ou de l humidit é. - Ne pas exposer l appareil à des variations de températures soudaines pour éviter la formation de condensation. Alimentation électrique - Raccordez uniquement à une source d alimentation dont les caractéristiques techniques figurent sur l étiquette située à l arrière de l appareil. - Utilisez cet appareil uniquement avec une alimentation mise à la terre et vérifiez que la prise électrique soit accessible en permanence. - Ne pas surcharger les prises murales, câbles de rallonge et parasurtenseurs avec d autres appareils pour éviter tout risque d incendie ou d électrocution. - Disposez les câbles d alimentation de sorte qu ils ne puissent être ni écrasés ni bloqués par des objets. Remplacez immédiatement le cordon d'alimentation s'il présente des dommages visibles. Altérations et accessoires - Toujours débrancher la machine flash à partir de l'alimentation électrique avant d'effectuer toutes les procédures d'installation, d'entretien ou de réparation. - Si la machine flash affiche des dommages évidents, la débrancher im médiatement de l'alimentation électrique et ne doit plus être utilisée. - Ne pas insérer d'objets dans le corps de la machine flash. La machine flash est équipée de dispositifs de sécurité conçus pour protéger l utilisateur (protection thermique, contre l é lectrocution et exposition accidentelle) dans des conditions d utilisation normales. - Ne jamais modifier les dispositifs de sécurité. De graves blessures peuvent découler d'une électrocution ou d'un flash involontaire. - Pour éviter tout danger, ne pas utili ser d équipements spéciaux (plaques entretoises, plaques de verre, etc.) en dehors de ceux recommandés ou fournis par COLOP. FR ATTENTION: Ne jamais démonter le corps de l'appareil! En raison des condensateurs, l'appareil peut contenir des tensions très él evées. Seul un technicien agréé peut effectuer les réparations d'ordre électrique! 25

26 Transport et installation Veuillez vérifier que l'emballage soit complet et ne pas endommagé. Au cas d'un dommage provoqué par le transport veuillez contacter votre fourni sseur immédiatement. Transport Les accessoires suivants sont fournis avec la machine flash: - Cordon d'alimentation - Plaque de distance de 9mm (dans la machine) - Plaque de distance de 3 mm - Manuel - CD-Rom EOS Typesetting Tool (option) Installation Posez la machine flash sur une surface plane, stable et propre. Raccordez-le à une prise électrique mise à la terre à l'aide du cordon fourni. Allumez l'appareil en appuyant sur l'interrupteur principal situé au bas de l'avant de la machine flash. Remarque: Faisant suite aux instructions de sécurité du produit, veuillez trouver des informations détaillées quant aux conditio ns de la mise en marche sur page 32. Au cas où les conditions de stockage et transport se distingueraient des co nditions de la mise en marche prescrites, veuillez attendre un délai d'acclimatation d'au moins 3 heures. Outil de composition EOS (option) Pour utiliser l'outil de composition OS, insérez le CD dans votre ordinateur. L'outil de composition EOS se lance automatiquement. De plus amples informations sur l'outil de composition EOS se trouvent sur le CD. 26

27 Commandes et fonctions Fiche électrique La fiche électrique se trouve à l'arrière de la machine flash. Elle ne permet que l'emploi de câbles électriques m is à la terre. Le porte-fusible se trouve sous la fiche électrique. Il contient le fusible de protection contre la surcharge la machine flash. fiche électrique fusible Interrupteur principal L'interrupteur principal se trouve à l'avant de la machine flash. Actionnez-le pour allumer et éteindre l'appareil. Lorsque la machine flash est sous tension, la DEL d'état verte est allumée. interrupteur principal Couvercle Le couvercle a deux fonctions principales. À sa fermeture, il applique la pression adéquate pour une exposition correcte et il lance automatiquement le processus flash. Pour des raisons de sécurité, le processus flash démarre uniquement si aucune mousse n'est chargée et si le couvercle est refermé. ATTENTION: Ecartez les mains du champ d'exposition avant de fermer le couvercle (risque de contusion)! FR Plaques entretoises La plaque entretoise est fixée sur le couvercle avec un aimant pour la remplacer aisément. Vérifiez toujours que la plaque entretoise adéquate est insérée avant de fermer le couvercle pour exposer une mousse flash. L'utilisation d'une plaque inadaptée peut endommager la mousse flash ou l'appareil. 27
