The Archdiocese of Washington will celebrate a Mass on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Capitol Hill in advance of the National March for Marriage which will be between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the U.S. Capitol Grounds. 4 St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church June 8, 2014 Catechists and Assistants needed: If you like sharing your faith with others, why not volunteer in our Religious Education Programs. Training and support is provided throughout the year. Catechists are needed for all grade levels. We welcome teens to assist in the classrooms. Many high schools will accept this as volunteer hours. Registration for new families We are now registering children for the school year. Please contact the Religious Education Office for a Registration Form or check the Bulletin area at the Church lobby for Registration forms for new families in the Program. Classes meet on Sunday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Sacramental Preparation is two years. If you or someone you know has a child who needs to receive formation for First Communion or Confirmation, Please contact our office. We also prepare Children over 7 years old who have not been baptized. Re-Registration for Each year a re-registration form is required, even if your child was previously enrolled. We sent the re-registration forms with the students. If you are choosing to re-register your child/children for Religious Education for the year , please complete the form, and mail it back along with the payment as soon as possible. RCIA How do you become a Catholic? We have people attending Mass at St. Catherine s who are not Catholic. Are you one of them? Often these people are searching and feel God s presence here in a special way. Some are considering marriage, in the Catholic Church, or are married to a Catholic and want to know about the Catholic faith. Or you may have been baptized Catholic but did not make First Communion or receive Confirmation. We have a process: Rite for Catholic Initiation of adults (RCIA), Members of a team will answer your questions and help you to understand the Catholic Faith. Call us for more information at: Dorothy Day Shelter Meals Needed Volunteers are needed to prepare and deliver meals for 20 women living at the Dorothy Day Shelter in Rockville, on various days once a month or every other month. This is a good group ministry, so meal preparation can be shared among several people. INFO: Susan Hayduk, Dear parish volunteers: The parish needs to clear space for boiler repairs in our school. So we are junking, removing, or dumping the equipment in the boiler-storage room below the Claridge room foyer by the end of June. Priesthood? Religious Life? Do you know if God is calling you to get a married life, to become a priest or a nun? For an answer attend a Vocational Guidance Encounter; a weekend experience to help you discern your personal vocation in life. The experience is directed by Father Ovidio Pecharromán; a Diocesan Laborer Priest with a team of priests, lay people and religious. St. Catherine Labouré Parish Pastoral Council "The St. Catherine Labouré Parish Pastoral Council is seeking new members 18 years old or older for the Council term commencing August New Council members are asked to commit to serve a three-year term (August August 2017) (Youth members are asked to commit to a one year term). If you are a registered, practicing member of the Parish, and are interested in serving on the Parish Pastoral Council, or if you know of another parishioner, you feel, would be good for Council membership, please submit their names and phone numbers to the Rectory on or before June 15, New members will be appointed from the names submitted once their willingness to commit to serve is verified. Appointments will be finalized on or before July 31st." Cada vez que rezamos el Credo, decimos creer en un solo y único Dios, que es Padre Creador, que es Hijo Redentor y que es Espíritu Santo Señor y Dador de Vida y Santificador. El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad, es uno de los "misterios escondidos en Dios, -que como dice el Concilio Vaticano II-, si no son revelados, no pueden ser conocidos" Y, aun después de la Revelación, es el misterio más profundo de la fe, que el entendimiento por sí solo no puede comprender ni penetrar. En cambio, el mismo entendimiento, iluminado por la fe, puede en cierto modo, aferrar y explicar el significado del dogma, para acercar al hombre al misterio de la vida íntima del Dios Uno y Trino. Toda la Sagrada Escritura revela esta verdad: "Dios es Amor en la vida interior de una única Divinidad, como una inefable comunión de personas". Son Tres Personas distintas en un sólo Dios, como aprendimos en el catecismo. El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad es la revelación más grande hecha por Jesucristo. Los judíos adoran la unicidad de Dios y desconocen la pluralidad de personas en la unicidad de la sustancia. Los demás pueblos adoran la multiplicidad de los dioses. El cristianismo es la única religión que ha descubierto, en la revelación de Jesús, que Dios es uno en tres personas. Ante esta revelación divina de su íntima esencia, no nos queda otra cosa que agradecerle esta confianza y adorar a las Tres Personas Divinas. T odo Matrimonio merece darse el regalo de un Fin de Semana del Encuentro Matrimonial Mundial. Así como las plantas necesitan agua y sol para crecer, los matrimonios necesitan momentos de reencuentro para renovar y hacer crecer su amor sin importar los años que tengan de casados.
