I. Describir gustos con like Estructura para retener: sujeto + like + verbo en infinitivo + complemento / sujeto + like + verbo + ing + complemento. Veamos algunos ejemplos: 1
1. Like + to (verbo) I like to play videogames on weekends. Do you like to go to the movies? John and Emily don t like to dance Salsa. He likes to read vampire books. Andrew likes to watch TV series on his laptop. 2. Like + verbo + ing La segunda posibilidad de acompañar al verbo like es utilizando el gerundio, es decir, agregar la terminación ing al verbo. Veamos algunos ejemplos: I like playing the piano for my friends. Do you like eating Indian food? They don t like singing.
Veamos algunos ejemplos: 1. Prefer, hate, love + to (verbo) Sandra prefers to eat salads to meat. I hate to get up early on weekends. Do you prefer to stay here? They hate to wait. I love to sleep on the couch. I love to sing in the shower. 3
Ejemplos: I love reading fiction books Me encanta leer libros de ficción I hate working out Odio hacer ejercicio III. 1. Enjoy + verbo + ing Ejemplos de su utilización: Christine enjoys talking with her friends on the phone. Do you enjoy drinking fruit juices Yes, I do. I enjoy drinking orange juice. Disfrutas tomar jugo de frutas? Paul and Jerry enjoylistening to hard rock. Paul y Jerry disfrutan escuchar Rock duro. 4
Sería incorrecto formular una frase de este modo: Christine enjoys to talk with her friends IV.
1. Con to Forget, learn, train, forget, choose, hope, need, agree, pretend, allow, decide, manage, mean, refuse. Necesitan acompañarse de to + verbo. I hope to finish the book by this weekend. She forgets to take her medication very often. Robert agrees to go with you if you pay his train ticket. 2. Con ing Avoid, finish, give up, mind/not mind, admit, consider, deny, imagine, keep, stop, miss. Necesitan estar acompañados de ing. Stop making noise please, I need to sleep. I don t mind getting up early on weekends. 6
I miss going to the beach, I hope to go very soon. 7
