28 Alexandra Collard caught up with Kristanna Loken the star of the Sci-fi channel hit series Painkiller Jane while she was attending a Sci-Fi convention in Estepona. The tall and beautiful bombshell was happy to sit down and answer some candid questions about her career, love and lifestyle. Have you always wanted to act? What was your first paying acting job? I knew that acting was what I wanted to do since I was really young, but I also dabbled in archaeology, actors can be intellectual too! I have always had a passion for writing and horse riding, I thoroughly enjoy and I ve ridden all over the world. As the world turns was my first paying job and I stayed there for about a year. It was great, I learned a lot while I was there, it was great because I was supposed to be a guest and I just kept staying, but after a year or so later I realised it was time to move on. 28

29 Have you experienced any negative press about being a bi-sexual? About 6 years ago I was talking with a journalist and he first asked the big bi sexual question and I was like what s the big deal? I have never felt any different, this is who I am I have always felt equally attracted to men and women. I can honestly say I have never experienced any negative feedback, but I think most men find it titillating and it s almost like a man s fantasy anyway. Do you think that people in general understood your lifestyle? I found it really hard when I was younger, coming to terms with the way I felt, I couldn t explain the feelings I was having and that s why I think it s important to be outspoken about bi sexuality. I think sometimes it is easier if you are either gay or straight and I am neither, so I think it s difficult for people to accept. They love to categorise you, rather than just be happy and accept you for who you are. If it s difficult to put you in a nice little box then I think it makes some people feel uncomfortable. Was it love at first sight when you first met your husband Noah? No, I hired him for our series and we were both in a relationship at the time. I was in a relationship with a woman and so was Noah! It actually took a couple of months before we got together, although there was definitely something there from the beginning. But then we both ended our relationships and it turned out that together we were a better fit. Has marriage changed you much? Before Noah, I was a lot more wild and crazy, extremely free spirited, I loved to dance and stay out late, but I think now I feel more grounded, equally free spirited but in a different way. He makes me a better person. We are both very close to our families and would definitely love to have a family, not now, but in a few years. Working with the R.O.C.K. Foundation a charity in Romania that helps orphaned and abandoned children I have definitely thought about adopting children. Do you work with any other charities? I work with Lundin for Africa and My Life Project both out of South Africa I have a beach house on the coast and love to spend time there. I have come to love the people and children so much.
