5 A u g u s t 1 6, P a g e 3 requested that the faithful of the diocese pray the rosary once a week for peace in the world. COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATION FAITH DIRECT: The summer can be a very busy time for families, and during the vacation it is easy to forget that Our Lady of Fatima needs your donations. Setting up recurring donations with Faith Direct is an easy way to make sure that Our Lady of Fatima Parish still receives your donations while you are away. Thank you for your continued support of our parish family with your time, talent and treasure. Enjoy these summer days! The BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE: Thus far we have collected $347,399 for the restoration of the church. We have spent $149,685 on the windows, roof, exterior walls and the refinishing of the sanctuary furnishings. That leaves us with $241,535 to complete what remains to be done in the church and wing. We hope that the memorials that will be available for the wing will help us generate $50,000 that we can earmark for the church restoration. While a good number of the estimates have been submitted, there are still some that have to be attained before we make any final recommendations. We will meet again in August to continue our conversation. THE CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL for 2015 is still underway in the diocese. Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the CMA. It s still not too late to make a pledge for Our hope is that as many parishioners participate as possible. Your gift, no matter how large or small, is very important. If you haven t given as yet, please consider doing so in the coming few weeks. Your gift supports our diocese and our parish for many important pastoral care programs to so many people in need. Envelopes for the Catholic Ministries Appeal are available at the main entrance of the church. As of August 3 rd, at Our Lady of Fatima, 115 parishioners have pledged $46,010 toward our goal of $39,600. It s not too late to contribute to the CMA for Because of the support and generosity of 117 parishioners we already received our first check from the diocese. Dear Friends, This weekend we celebrate the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are about half way through the month of August. How have you been doing with your list of things you wanted to get done during the summer? I know that I haven t gotten to as many as I had planned to by this time of summer. I have done some of my catching up reading, and some of my work for the start of a new pastoral season at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, but I still have many items on my summer list. I keep reminding myself that it s OK not to finish the whole list because an important part of these weeks is to take the time to rest and be renewed in the gift of God s love and to enjoy the beauty of the summer season. The first reading this weekend is taken from the Book Proverbs. It speaks about the house of wisdom. It is a very beautiful reading. It invites those who seek the gift of wisdom, the gift of God, to enter into this house and experience the presence and beauty of God s presence in our midst. It is in this place of Wisdom that we will grow in the way of understanding. This reading invites each of us into a deeper relationship with our God. We are invited to enjoy the gift of God in our midst. Perhaps that s the great gift of the summer. Perhaps it s not a time to catch up, but a time to enter into the house of Wisdom and be filled with the gift of God s presence. Paul continues to urge the Ephesians to live the life of God. The last line or so of the second reading this weekend is so powerful but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. This life we are called to live as disciples of the Lord Jesus calls us to a life of gratitude. We are called to have gratitude for the many blessings that filled our lives and for the presence of Wisdom within our hearts.
6 A u g u s t 1 6, P a g e 4 Again in the gospel Jesus proclaims to the crowds that he is indeed the living bread that has come down from heaven and that whoever eats this bread will live forever! What a great gift has been given to us. We are called to enter into the house of Wisdom, to have grateful hearts, and to feast upon the bread of life! May the many blessings of our God fill each of us and our loved ones throughout the coming week! Peace, Fr. For more information please call Marge Walsh at or UN MENSAJE DE NUESTRO PARROCO Queridos Amigos, Este fin de semana celebramos el 20 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario.
