3 Week of January 11, 2015 Page Three 2015 ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL BEGINS Entrusted with Responsibility The 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal is underway. Many of our parishioners have received a mailing from Archbishop Cupich. He asks that you make a pledge to the 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal. Please respond generously. The Appeal supports both parish and Archdiocesan ministries. The Appeal funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our parish. For example, Appeal funds support catechetical development, help with our building needs. This year, the theme of the Appeal is Entrusted with Responsibility. We each have a responsibility to recognize God s gifts to us and to nurture them. As we contemplate His gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, of our Archdiocese and of the Church throughout the world is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. As you review the mailing from Archbishop Cupich, please note the ministries and services funded by the Appeal, including the ones that directly support the work of our parish. Then please give generously. Note that when our parish reaches its goal of in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our parish. COMIENZA LA CAMPAÑA CATÓLICA ANUAL ARQUIDIOCESANA 2015 Confiados con la Responsabilidad La Campaña Católica Anual 2015 está en marcha. Muchos de nuestros feligreses ya recibieron una misiva del Arzobispo Cupich. En ella les pide que realicen sus promesas de donativos a la Campaña Católica Anual Por favor respondan de manera generosa. La Campaña apoya tanto a los ministerios parroquiales como a los arquidiocesanos. La Campaña financia servicios que son de gran ayuda a otros ministerios aquí en nuestra parroquia. Por ejemplo, la Campaña aporta fondos para apoyar entrenamiento de nuestras catequistas, y ayuda necesaria de nuestros edificios. Este año, el tema de la Campaña es: Confiados con la Responsabilidad. Cada uno de nosotros tenemos la responsabilidad de darnos cuenta cuán grandes son los dones que Dios nos ha obsequiado y nutrir esos dones. Al contemplar los dones que nos ha dado, debemos reflexionar también sobre nuestra gratitud por dichos dones. Su apoyo financiero a la obra de nuestra parroquia, de nuestra Arquidiócesis y de la Iglesia en todo el mundo es, de hecho, una forma de expresar esta gratitud. Mientras revisa la carta del Arzobispo Cupich por favor lea cuidadosamente la lista de los ministerios y servicios financiados por la Campaña Católica Anual, incluyendo los que apoyan directamente la obra de nuestra parroquia. Después, por favor, dé con generosidad. (Mark 1: 11) Our parish community is proud of our hundreds of children and youth active in our community, in whom God is well pleased, represented here by just a few. NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR THE NEW YEAR don t sit home bored try something new! Children s Choir El Coro de Niños ensaya cada viernes a las 5:00 pm en la iglesia de Santa Cruz, y también canta en la misa de las 10:30 am los domingos en Santa Cruz. Este mes está aceptando nuevos miembros, niños y niñas, de los grados 1-8. Si estás interesado/a, venga al ensayo este viernes para inscribirte. The Children s Choir practices every Friday at 5 pm in Holy Cross Church, and sings in the 10:30 am mass on Sunday in Holy Cross. This month, the Choir welcomes new members, boys and girls, grades 1-8. If you are interested, come to practice this Friday to sign up.

Por el Bautismo, nosotros volvemos a renacer como hijos e hijas de Dios, y se nos da la bienvenida como miembros de la comunidad eclesial. Es bueno que repasemos las guias de nuestra parroquia sobre el Bautismo. EL BAUTISMO DE LOS INFANTES EL BAUTISMO DE UN INFANTE usualmente se refiere a niños menores de 6 años. Los padres que requiran el bautismo del infante tienen que hacerlo por lo menos un mes de anticipación de la fecha deseada del bautismo. Es necesario que por lo menos un padre de familia venga a la oficina de la parroquia personalmente para llenar una solicitud y hacer arreglos. El/ella tiene que traer la acta de nacimiento del niño cuando venga a hacer los arreglos. Los Padrinos tienen que estar casadas por la Iglesia Católica (puede ser entre ellos o hacia otra persona) o estar soltero/a. La misma poliza se aplica a los padrinos de niños y adultos. Through BAPTISM, we are reborn as children of God, and welcomed as members of the Church community. Baptism is the first sacrament. It is good that we review our parish guidelines on Baptism. THE BAPTISM OF INFANTS THE BAPTISM OF AN INFANT ordinarily refers to children under the age of 6. The parents requesting the baptism of an infant should do so at least one month in anticipation of the desired date of baptism. It is necessary that at least one of the parents come to the parish office personally to complete the application and make arrangements. He/she should bring the child s birth certificate at the time of the arrangements. The Godparents need to be married in the Catholic Church, (whether to each other or another) or be single. This same policy applies to godparents of children and adults. EL BAUTISMO DE UN NIÑO/A EL BAUTISMO DE UN NIÑO/A usualmente se refiere a los niños de edad de escuela, entre las edades de 6 a 14 años. Es necesario que el niño/a de esta edad reciba instrucción catequético en la preparación del sacramento del Bautismo. En nuestra parroquia, esto se lleva acabo por medio de la participación del programa de Educación Religiosa para niños/ as de la parroquia. EL BAUTISMO DE UN ADULTO EL BAUTISMO DE UN ADULTO usualmente se refiere a personas de la edad de 15 años en adelante. El adulto participará en un proceso en la parroquia que se llama El Rito de la Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos. THE BAPTISM OF CHILDREN THE BAPTISM OF A CHILD ordinarily refers to children of school age, between the ages of 6 and 14. It is necessary that a child of this age receive catechetical instruction in preparation for the sacrament of Baptism. At our parish, this is done through participation in the parish Religious Education program for children. THE BAPTISM OF AN ADULT THE BAPTISM OF AN ADULT ordinarily refers to persons ages 15 and older. The adult will participate in the parish process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
