1 RECORDING TRANSCRIPT Level 3 Spanish (90588), 2012 TRACK 1 NARRATOR Audibility Check. Please listen carefully to this introduction. This exam is Level 3 Spanish for Please raise your hand if you heard that statement. The Supervisor will now pause the recording to check that everyone has heard this introduction. PAUSE 5 SECONDS TRACK 2 NARRATOR Open your question booklet at page 2. Listen to two passages. You will hear each passage four times. The first time, you will hear the passage as a whole. The second and third times, you will hear the passage in sections, with a pause after each. The fourth time, you will hear the passage again as a whole. As you listen, you may make notes in the listening notes boxes provided. First Passage: El Camino de Santíago NARRATOR Listen to a description of The Pilgrim s Way of St James. Question One, Question Two, and Question Three are based on this passage. You now have a minute and a half to read the questions. PAUSE 90 SECONDS NARRATOR First reading Apóstol means apostle (disciple of Jesus Christ) Peregrinar means to make a pilgrimage Vieira means scallop Druida means Celtic priest PLAY ENTIRE FIRST PASSAGE FIRST PASSAGE SECTION A Fue a principios del siglo IX cuando se descubrió la tumba del apóstol Santiago en Compostela, Galicia.

PAUSE 20 SECONDS

PAUSE 120 SECONDS TRACK 4 NARRATOR Second passage: Reseña cinematográfica: La lengua de las mariposas NARRATOR Listen to and watch a movie and a movie review. Question Four and Question Five are based on this passage. You now have one minute to read the questions.

J.L. Cuerda, dir. Fernando Fernan-Gomez and Manuel Lozano.
