2 A Message from our Pastor, Fr. Bob Cilinski I will praise you Lord for you have rescued me. ~ Psalm 30 My dear parishioners, We are in the midst of celebrating new life. Springtime brings an abundance of flowers and fruitful gardens. There are First Communions and Graduations weddings and Ordinations. We can say as the people in today s Gospel, God has visited His people. For our beloved dead and their families who grieve their loss, the power of Jesus to raise us up in the Resurrection to eternal life gives a messsage of tremendous hope and victory. Death does not have the last word God does. In the end, our God the giver of life and love always wins. And then there is St. Paul, who was the great persecutor of the Church. God called him and gave him grace and he was never the same. God surprised Paul with a miracle and brought him back to life as his sins were forgiven. He now shared the life of Jesus Christ and became the greatest missionary in the Church. Jesus brings us this new life too, he brings us miracles and surprises and rescues us. Congratulations to Fr. Eric Shafer who was ordained a priest on Saturday, June 8 th. Eric has been our seminarian and deacon the past two years at All Saints. Fr. Shafer will celebrate a First Mass next Sunday, June 16 th at 11:30am. A reception will follow in the gym. Love and blessings, Fr. Bob Cilinski Pastor St. Vincent de Paul Society the harvest is great; the workers, few Do you wonder what you can do in our community to assist our less fortunate neighbors? Legion of Mary ~ School Library ~ Tuesdays at 7:30pm Thursday Morning Bible Study - A weekly Morning Bible Study for adults meets every Thursday from 10:00 11:00am in the Parish Library. This year almost all of the Sunday Gospel readings are taken from the Gospel according to St. Luke; therefore, we have undertaken a comprehensive reflection on this Gospel. All adults are welcome. The Golden Agers will have a luncheon on Tuesday, June 11 th at 12:00 noon in the Knights Hall. Mass will begin at 11:00am. Please bring bar soap for the Mission and/or soap powders and baggies for SERVE. All Seniors are invited. This will be our last luncheon until September. You give them something to eat. ~ Luke 9:13 All Saints Bethany Food Pantry A new outreach will begin when the renovation of the Parish Activities Center is completed. The room that used to be the Blessed Sacrament Chapel will now become the Bethany Food Pantry. Jesus would go to Bethany to the home of Martha and Mary and Lazarus to relax, share food and friendship and love. Remember Mary would sit at Jesus feet just enjoying his presence like we used to in the Chapel. Martha was busy preparing the food that would nourish their bodies. That space will allow us to be Marthas for families in need of food. Our new Food Pantry will open on October 4 th, the Feast of St. Francis who had a great care for the poor. Volunteers Needed for Food Pantry It is with great joy that I announce the formation of the new All Saints "Bethany Food Pantry" Ministry which will open this Fall in the new Parish Activities Center. This ministry will require a team of volunteers dedicated to our Catholic mission to provide food for those in need. I am looking for candidates who have some planning and organizational experience to assist in the establishment and to serve as Director or on the Steering Committee. I am also looking for many, many people who would like to volunteer to serve in the Food Pantry ministry. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will also provide support, so we will be able to use their expertise and network with them. If you would like to participate in the leadership role or as a volunteer in the Food Pantry or have questions, please contact Kathy Miller at Many thanks to all who are offering to help. ~ Fr. Bob

Keep every Sunday holy. The Sunday celebration of the Lord s Day and his Eucharist is at the heart of the Church s life (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2177). It s vital that we worship God at Mass each Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation (unless unavoidably prevented). Confess at least once a year. Few humans can go an entire year without committing a serious sin. Turn to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Receive Communion at least once during the Easter season. Prepared by the Sacrament of Reconciliation, receive the Eucharist as often as possible but especially during the Easter season. Fast and abstain. To help us control appetites of all kinds, the Church established times of penance, when fasting and abstinence help us focus on God. Provide for the Church. To keep our Church healthy and strong, we each must care for her and contribute what we can.
