There is / there are Para el siguiente tema, lo primero es recordar el significado de singular y plural. Singular: es cuando nos referimos a la UNIDAD, a un solo sustantivo. (Perro Dog) (Manzana Apple) (Polvo Dust) Plural: es cuando nos referimos a dos o mas. Para este tema, es importante mencionar el Verbo TO BE (ser o estar) que en este caso no tiene el significado que ya conoces, sino que ahora tiene el significado de HABER.: There is (hay en singular) There are (hay en plural) y debemos tener en cuenta cuando hablamos en singular y plural para su uso. Observa el siguiente ejemplo: There is (Singular) There is an apple on the table. Hay una manzana sobre la mesa. HAY There are (Plural) There are two apples on the table. Hay dos manzanas sobre la mesa. Como se hace uso del verbo To Be, observa que sucede en las oraciones, negativas e interrogativas: SINGULAR ENGLISH There is a car in front of the garage SPANISH Hay un carro enfrente de la cochera.

No hay un autobús cerca de la escuela. Hay un taxi en la esquina? SPANISH Hay dos árboles junto a la casa. No hay dos árboles sobre la calle. Hay dos árboles en la parada del autobús? Es importante mencionar que hay otra forma de NEGAR en singular y plural: There is not a bus near the school. There are not 2 trees on the street There is NO bus station near the school Es este tipo de negación se omite el Articulo definido ---A --- There are NO trees on the street En este tipo de negación se omite el Número sólo se menciona el plural. 3.- Ahora practica el uso de THERE IS / THERE ARE en el siguiente ejercicio.
