2 Second Sunday of Lent March 1, 2015 SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT Genesis 22:1-2. 9ª This Reading shows how complete was Abraham s obedience to God. Romans 8:31b-34. Since God is on our side, we can face anything. Mark 9:2-10. on the mountain Elijah and Moses appeared to them. Moses represented the Law. Elijah the prophets. Thus Jesus is seen as bringing the law and the prophets to fulfilment. On Mount Tabor Jesus disciples got a glimpse of the Glory that was his as a Son of God. The transfiguration shows the depth of God s love for us. Jesus is transfigured before the eyes of Peter, James and John. Who hear the voice of God from a cloud say. This is my beloved son. The first Reading recalls Abraham s willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac. In the second reading from Romans, we are reminded once again that if God is for us, who can be against us? The Gospel recounts the Transfiguration, where in Jesus identity as the Son of God is confirmed. SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA Génesis 22: ª Esta lectura muestra cómo fue completa la obediencia de Abraham a Dios. Romanos 8: 31b-34.Puesto que Dios está de nuestro lado, podemos enfrentamos a cualquier cosa. Marcos 9: En la montaña Elías y Moisés aparecen a a los discípulos de Jesús. Moisés representa la Ley. 3 Stations of the Cross Fridays during Lent in the Church 6:00 p.m. in English and 7:30 p.m. in Spanish Respond to the Lenten call for prayer, fasting and alms giving by joining us on Fridays during Lent for Stations of the Cross and afterwards for our Lenten Soup Nights. Friday Evening Lenten Soup Dinners! Every Friday during Lent at 6:30pm! Our theme is Eat Simply, So Others May Simply Eat! Sharing a simple meal of bread and soup is a demonstration of our response to the Lenten call of prayer, sacrifice and almsgiving.
