Por primera ocasión en la historia de la ISSF, se efectuarán Finales en la categoría Junior, un nuevo avance que aumentará la popularidad del Tiro Deportivo mundial en las nuevas generaciones. La Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico, liderada por el President Don Rodrigo de Mesa y el Comité Organizador del evento han hecho un enorme esfuerzo para preparar este 51º Campeonato del Mundo. La ISSF está segura de que los participantes encontrarán las condiciones ideales para competir y disfrutar de este extraordinario evento. Nos es muy grato estar invitados al Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento en Tiro Olímpico Juan Carlos I de las Gabias/Granada, ya conocido en todo el mundo por haber organizado una Copa del Mundo, la Final de Copas del Mundo y un Campeonato Continental. On behalf of the International Shooting Sport Federation ISSF, we welcome you to the 51st ISSF World Championship in Granada, Spain, taking place from 6 to 20 September This event is the first where Olympic Quotas will be distributed, consequently we expect a large number of participants from all over the world. For the first time in the history of the ISSF, we will be having Finals in the Juniors category, a new development that will increase the popularity of the Shooting Sport worldwide for the new generations. The Spanish Shooting Federation (Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico), its President Mr. Rodrigo de Mesa and the Organizing Committee of the event had worked very hard to prepare this 51st World Championship. The ISSF is certain the participants will find the idea conditions for competing and enjoying this extraordinary event. We are very pleased to have been invited to the Juan Carlos I Olympic Shooting Range in Las Gabias, Granada, renowned all over the world for hosting a World Cup, a World Cup Final and a Continental Championship. We wish to extend our gratitude to the local authorities, the people of Las Gabias, of Granada and of Spain for their extraordinary hospitality and support. We acknowledge and appreciate the work and assistance of the media; press, radio, television and internet in favor of this Sport. 5 Miguel Cardenal Carro Presidente del Consejo Superior de Deportes President of the High Council for Sports La ciudad de Granada será, entre el 7 y el 19 de septiembre, sede de la LI edición del Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro. En esta ciudad se darán cita los mejores deportistas internacionales de esta especialidad, lo que augura una competición de gran nivel. Hay que celebrar que se haya depositado, una vez más, la confianza en nuestro país para acoger un acontecimiento deportivo de tanta entidad. La competición se desarrollará en el campo de tiro del Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento de Tiro Olímpico Juan Carlos I, ubicado en la localidad andaluza de Las Gabias, al oeste de la capital granadina. Estoy seguro de que la elección de esta sede ha sido una gran noticia para que los tiradores españoles preparen su participación en el Mundial con un estímulo adicional, el de ofrecer su mejor rendimiento ante sus propios compatriotas. Quiero agradecer a todas las instituciones que han contribuido a la organización de este evento y, por supuesto, a todos los patrocinadores que han prestado un apoyo, especialmente valioso en estos tiempos. Desde el primer momento, les ha movido su entusiasmo por ofrecer la máxima calidad a participantes y a espectadores. En este sentido, también quiero resaltar la implicación de todas las Instituciones Granadinas, y por supuesto la labor que ha llevado a cabo D. Rodrigo de Mesa Ruíz, Presidente del Comité Organizador del Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico Este esfuerzo constante de las distintas partes garantiza un correcto desarrollo del programa deportivo. From the 7th to the 19th September, the city of Granada will be hosting the 51st World Shooting Championship. The best international exponents of this sporting speciality will be in attendance at the event, which promises to provide high-level competition. It is cause for celebration that Spain has once again been entrusted with hosting a sporting event of this calibre. The competition will be taking place at the shooting range of the Juan Carlos I Specialised Centre for High-Performance Olympic Shooting, located in the Andalusian town of Las Gabias, to the west of the city of Granada. I am sure that the choice of this venue has been a great piece of news adding an extra boost to the preparations of Spanish marksmen and women, providing them the chance to perform to the best of their abilities in front of a home crowd. I would like to express my gratitude to all the institutions that have contributed to the organisation of this event and, of course, to all the sponsors who have lent their support, which is particularly valuable in the current climate. From the very outset they have been motivated by an enthusiasm for providing the highest standards to both participants and spectators. It is as such that I would also like to highlight the involvement of the Granada s Administrations, and of course the efforts carried out by Rodrigo de Mesa Ruíz, the President of the Organising Committee of the World Olympic Shooting Championship These constant efforts on the part of the different parties ensure the smooth running of the sporting programme. 6 Alejandro Blanco Bravo Presidente del Comité Olímpico Español President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Como presidente del Comité Olímpico Español, para mí es un honor y un orgullo ser testigo de excepción del Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico 2014 que se disputará en el CEAR Juan Carlos I de Las Gabias, Granada, del 6 al 20 de septiembre. España vive un momento extraordinario en el mundo del deporte. Los éxitos del Tiro Olímpico en nuestro país son una realidad que han contribuido con grandes y numerosos triunfos en las máximas competiciones continentales y mundiales, a elevar el nivel del deporte español. Los tiradores españoles son un claro ejemplo de que el trabajo sembrado durante años tiene su recompensa en el futuro y ese futuro está aquí. Competirán con las máximas figuras internacionales en la máxima competición mundial, un reto que la Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico ha afrontado con decisión y que, estoy seguro, será un éxito organizativo. Este campeonato de máximo nivel permitirá a muchos jóvenes promesas del Tiro Olímpico adquirir una valiosa experiencia de competición, lo que sin duda, redundará en el interés del Tiro Olímpico en los jóvenes de nuestro país. Por último, sólo me queda agradecer a la Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico y a su Presidente D. Rodrigo de Mesa, el esfuerzo y trabajo por impulsar esta iniciativa que vuelve a situar a España en el foco del deporte mundial. No puedo tampoco dejar de dar las gracias a los patrocinadores, voluntarios y medios de comunicación por su apoyo, colaboración y complicidad en el desarrollo y ejecución de este Mundial. Igualmente quiero hacer un reconocimiento a la Federación Internacional de Tiro Olímpico y a su Presidente, nuestro querido amigo D. As President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, it is an honour for me and I am proud to be a privileged witness of the Olympic Shooting World Championship 2014, which will be held in the CEAR Juan Carlos I of Las Gabias, Granada, from the 6th to the 20th of September. Spain is going through an extraordinary moment in sport. The success of Shooting Sport in our country is a fact, which has contributed with great and various triumphs in the greater continental and world championships to raise the level of Spanish sports. Spanish shooters are a clear example of a several-year work that is rewarded in the future, and that future is here. They will compete against the major international players in the greater world competition, a challenge which the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation has faced with determination, and which, I am sure, will be an organisational success. This top-level competition will allow young up-and-coming Shooting Sport players to gain valuable experience in competition, which undoubtedly will result in the interest of the young people in the Olympic Shooting of our country. Lastly, I can only thank the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation and its President Mr Rodrigo de Mesa for their effort and work so as to boost this initiative, which places Spain once again in the centre of world sports. Also, I can but thank sponsors, volunteers and media for their support, collaboration and mutual understanding in the growth and realisation of this World Championship. Similarly, I would like to give a special vote of thanks to the International Shooting Sport Federation and its President, our dear friend Mr Olegario Vázquez Raña, for their trust and support to Spanish sports. 7 Vanessa Polo Gil Alcaldesa de Las Gabias Las Gabias Major En el municipio de Las Gabias, crisol de culturas, sede de uno de los eventos deportivos más importantes del año, del 6 al 20 de Septiembre se celebra el 51º Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico y conforme se acercan las fechas va creciendo el interés de los vecinos hacia este gran acontecimiento. Para nosotros es un orgullo albergar el Centro de Alto Rendimiennto Juan Carlos I, unas instalaciones de primer nivel reconocidas mundialmente y es por eso que queremos agradecer a la Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico y al Comité Organizador su apuesta por creer en el potencial de Las Gabias y convertirla en la Capital del mundo de este deporte. Quiero dar la bienvenida a los deportistas, personal técnico, organización, aficionados y demás visitantes que los acompañan, y decir que encontrarán en nuestro municipio la acogida y bondad de los gabienses para que se sientan cómodos. Les invito a que salgan a pasear por nuestras calles y conozcan los valores patrimoniales y culturales que guarda esta localidad, disfruten de nuestra gastronomía, conozcan a sus gentes, su historia y sus costumbres, y estoy segura que se llevarán un grato recuerdo de su estancia. Así podrán conocer lugares tan emblemáticos como El Torreón Árabe, el Baptisterio Romano, la Casa señorial de los Benavente y Pisa que son señas de diferentes culturas que a lo largo de la historia supieron reconocer los valores de estas tierras por ser la ruta de conexión entre la costa malagueña y la ciudad de la Alhambra y por su cercanía a esta última. En el ámbito deportivo, quiero pedirles a todos los participantes que pongan en valor ese espíritu olímpico de respeto hacia el contrincante, la convivencia con personas de tantos y distintos países, el afán de superación de uno mismo y reconocimiento al esfuerzo de los compañeros que sólo el deporte y los deportistas sabéis transmitir. Desearos a todos y especialmente a los representantes españoles la mejor participación, que disfrutéis de cada tiro como si fuera el primero que disparáis, y que os llevéis, como premios, los mejores recuerdos. In the town of Las Gabias, melting pot of different cultures, home of one of the biggest sports events of the year, the 51st World Championship of Olympic Shooting is celebrated from 6th to 20th September, and as the date approaches the interest of the neighbours is growing towards this great event. We are proud to host the Center of High Performance Juan Carlos I with first-class facilities recognized worldwide and that is why we want to thank the Royal Spanish Olympic Shooting Federation and the Organizing Committee for their commitment to believe in the potential of Las Gabias and make it the world capital of this sport. I want to welcome the athletes, staff, organization, fans and other visitors accompanying them, and say they will find in our town the hospitality and kindness of gabienses (citizens of Las Gabias) so that they feel comfortable. I invite them to go for a walk around our streets and know the heritage and cultural values that this town keeps, enjoy our cuisine, meet its people, its history and customs, and I m sure you will have fond memories of your stay here. Then, they can meet famous landmarks such as The Arabic Tower, the Roman Baptistery, the Manor House of Benavente and Pisa, which are signs of different cultures that throughout history failed to recognize the value of these lands to be the route connecting Malaga coast and the city of The Alhambra and its proximity to the latter. In the sports world, I want to ask all participants to put in value the Olympic spirit of respect towards the opponent, living with people from so many different countries, the desire to improve oneself and recognize the effort of colleagues that only sports and athletes know how to convey. Wish you all and especially the Spanish representatives the best participation and enjoy every shot as if it was the first one you shoot, and that you bring home, as prizes, the best memories. 8 Rodrigo de Mesa Ruíz Presidente de la Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico y Presidente del Comité Organizador President of the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation and President of the Organising Committee Como Presidente de la Real Federación Española de Tiro Olímpico, manifiesto nuestra gratitud a la Federación Internacional de Tiro Olímpico (ISSF) por la confianza dada para organizar el 51º Campeonato del Mundo ISSF Hemos asumido este importante reto con responsabilidad, no exenta de preocupación, por las dificultades que hay que superar para organizar como se merece un evento internacional de esta naturaleza. Al mismo tiempo, como Presidente del Comité Organizador es una satisfacción y un honor acoger a tantos países y deportistas en nuestro Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento (CEAR) Juan Carlos I de Las Gabias (Granada). Las instalaciones de la Federación se convertirán durante veinte días en el centro de atención del tiro olímpico mundial como punto de referencia para conseguir no sólo un título mundial, también una de las 64 plazas olímpicas en juego para acudir a los próximos Juegos Olímpicos de Rio de Janeiro 2016 Asimismo, es obligado en nombre de todos los estamentos de la Real Federación Española, del Comité Organizador y en el mío propio, dar la más cordial bienvenida a todas las delegaciones participantes y desearles junto con una feliz estancia entre nosotros, la mejor de las suertes deportivas. 9 Luciano Alonso Alonso Consejero de Educación, Cultura y Deporte Junta de Andalucía Minister of Education, Culture and Sports Junta de Andalucía El Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico, que se va a celebrar del 6 al 20 de septiembre en la localidad granadina de Las Gabias, va a constituir una excelente oportunidad para demostrar una vez más la experiencia organizativa de nuestra tierra en este tipo de eventos internacionales. Parece difícil reunir en un solo evento tantos indicadores de éxito como los que se dan en esta ocasión: una de las mejores instalaciones del mundo para la práctica de este deporte, como es el CEAR Juan Carlos I; un momento decisivo para los participantes, que buscan su clasificación para Río 2016; y la presencia de los mejores jugadores del mundo, con varias posibilidades andaluzas, además, de conseguir medallas. Cualquier sede deportiva del mundo soñaría con reunir la mitad de las condiciones con las que vamos a afrontar este nuevo reto, que vuelve a posicionar a Andalucía como destino privilegiado para la celebración de eventos deportivos. La importancia del campeonato y el marco en el que va a tener lugar contribuirá también a mostrar los valores propios de toda competición y a acentuar las actitudes de participación, tolerancia y respeto a las normas de convivencia, bases del espíritu deportivo. En esa certeza deseo a todos los participantes y organizadores el mayor de los éxitos en la competición, que disfruten durante su estancia del singular patrimonio histórico-artístico y los magníficos paisajes de Granada y su provincia, y estoy convencido de que Andalucía dará una vez más muestra de ser una comunidad hospitalaria y acogedora. The Olympic Shooting World Championship, which will be held from 6 to 20 September in the town of Las Gabias in Granada, will be an opportunity to demonstrate once more the organizational experience of our land in such international events. It seems difficult to bring together in one event so many indicators of success as those that occur at this time: one of the best facilities in the world for this sport, such as CEAR Juan Carlos I; a decisive moment for the participants, seeking their place in Rio 2016; and the presence of the best players in the world, with several possibilities for Andalusians to get medals. Any sporting venue in the world would dream to meet half of the conditions that we will face in this new challenge, which repositions Andalusia as a preferred destination for the celebration of sporting events. The importance of the championship and the framework in which it will take place will also help to show the values of every competition and emphasize the attitudes of participation, tolerance and respect for the rules of coexistence, bases of sportsmanship. In this certainty I wish all participants and organizers the biggest success in the competition, to enjoy during their stay the unique historical and artistic heritage and the magnificent landscapes of Granada and its province, and I am convinced that Andalucía will once again show to be a hospitable and welcoming community. 10 Rafael Rodríguez Bermúdez Consejero de Turismo y Comercio Junta de Andalucía Minister of Tourism and Commerce Government of Andalusia Los grandes eventos deportivos se constituyen hoy como un hecho diferencial por la valiosa oportunidad que representan tanto para el desarrollo económico como para la promoción turística de los destinos que los acogen. Así lo entendemos en Andalucía, que históricamente ha sabido aprovechar las sinergias que genera el binomio deporte-turismo para reforzar aún más la diversidad de su oferta y ser reconocida internacionalmente como un referente de calidad turística y como sede tradicional de grandes citas deportivas. Uno de los principales acontecimientos del año deportivo en Andalucía será, sin duda, la 51 edición del Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico que se celebrará, del 7 al 19 de septiembre, en el Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento de Las Gabias, en el que se darán cita unos tiradores de 110 países y estarán en juego nada menos que 64 plazas para participar en los Juegos Olímpicos de 2016 en Río de Janeiro. Además, se trata de un evento de enorme repercusión mediática, que en su pasada edición alcanzó una audiencia de 660 millones de telespectadores, y que generará riqueza y empleo, al atraer a un elevado número de visitantes a los hoteles de la zona en plena temporada estival. Por todo ello, desde la Junta no hemos dudado en apoyar de nuevo la organización de un evento deportivo de primera magnitud como este, que nos permitirá ampliar aún más la proyección nacional e internacional de la comunidad como destino vinculándola a la práctica deportiva y a la organización de competiciones internacionales a través de nuevas acciones de promoción específicas. Quisiera felicitar a los organizadores por su esfuerzo y dedicación para que esta competición sea todo un éxito y expresar mis mejores deseos a deportistas participantes y aficionados para que disfruten del espectáculo y de su estancia en Andalucía. Today, the greater sport events make a difference thanks to the valuable opportunity that they represent to the economic development, as well as to promoting tourism in the places they are held. This is how we understand them in Andalusia, which historically has made the most of synergies generated by sport-tourism, so as to reinforce even more the diversity of its offer and be acknowledged internationally as a referent in quality tourism and as traditional venue of the greater sport events. One of the main sport events of the year in Andalusia will undoubtedly be the 51st Shooting Sport World Championship, which will be held from the 7th to the 19th of September in the High Performance Centre of Las Gabias, where 4,000 players of 110 countries will come together and will compete for 64 seats to participate in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games. In addition, this is a high-profile-in-the-media event, which in its last edition reached 660 million of viewers, and which will generate wealth and employment by attracting a great number of visitors to hotels in the area in middle of the warm season. For all these reasons, from the Junta (Government) we have not hesitated in supporting once again the organization of a high profile sport event such as this one, which will allows to widen even more our national and international presence as a destination for sport practice and organization of international competitions thanks to ways of promotion. 11 Sebastián Pérez Presidente de la Diputación de Granada Minister of Education, Culture and Sports Junta de Andalucía La Diputación Provincial de Granada ha colaborado estrechamente con la Real Federación de Tiro Olímpico desde que nos pidiera apoyo en la organización del Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico en el que damos la bienvenida en Las Gabias, desde el 6 al 20 de septiembre, a más de cinco mil deportistas procedentes de unos 120 países de todo el mundo que competirán por las 70 plazas olímpicas que se disputan para participar en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro Junto con la Federación Internacional de Tiro Deportivo, que organiza la que es su máxima competición cada cuatro años, la Real Federación Española ha apostado firmemente por la provincia de Granada eligiendo al Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento de Tiro Olímpico Juan Carlos I en Las Gabias para la celebración de esta cita deportiva que tendrá una repercusión nacional e internacional excepcional. Las instalaciones del campo de Las Gabias, y en ello coinciden los especialistas de esta disciplina, se han convertido en uno de los mejores lugares para practicar el tiro como podrán conocer los casi quinientos millones de telespectadores que se calcula que contemplarán las imágenes que les llevarán las televisiones de todo el mundo a sus casas. Será una promoción sin parangón para la provincia en la que la Diputación ha querido sumarse a la Real Federación de Tiro Olímpico en la que es la máxima competición del tiro deportivo, y acoge las modalidades olímpicas y deportivas de plato, precisión, blanco móvil y 300 metros, reconocidos por la Federación Internacional tanto en categoría absoluta como junior. En ella, los mejores deportistas de esta disciplina lucharán por una posición en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río. Las Gabias, con el apoyo de la Diputación, cuenta con el aval para su organización de haber albergado ya citas de alto nivel en el ámbito nacional e internacional, con el campeonato iberoamericano de hace dos años. Invito así mismo a los deportistas, familiares y entrenadores que lleguen a Granada para que aprovechen esos días de septiembre para conocer la provincia con comarcas tan atractivas como la Alpujarra o la Costa Tropical, rincones exquisitos en toda el Área Metropolitana, con enclaves naturales como la Vega o la Sierra, y sus rutas lorquianas. La simbiosis entre cultura, turismo y deporte se convierte en una aliada perfecta para el desarrollo social y económico de la provincia gracias al trabajo realizado de manera conjunta entre la Diputación Provincial y la Real Federación de Tiro Olímpico. Como presidente de la Corporación Provincial deseo el éxito de estas competiciones no sin antes agradecer una vez más a la Real Federación Española el haber escogido Granada como escenario de esta actividad deportiva que cada día cuenta con más aficionados. The Provincial Administration ( Diputación ) of Granada have been working closely with the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation since they asked for our support to organize this ISSF World Shooting Championship, where we are welcoming here, in Las Gabias, to the thousands of shooters from the world around that are coming to compete and try to attain some of the more than 60 Quota Places for Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Jointly with the ISSF --the International Federation that puts together this All Events Championships, which are their most prominent competition for the Olympic & Sport Shooting Events the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation has put his highest stakes on our province of Granada, choosing the CEAR (Specialized High Performance Center on Olympic & Sports Shooting) in Las Gabias as the venue for this competition which will attain an outstanding national and international impact. According to the opinion of specialists, the facilities of Las Gabias s CEAR, have become one of the best places for Shooting Sports practice, something that will be patent also for the viewers following this Championships through TV, which are expected to amount around 500 million persons world around. This represents an exceptional opportunity to spread Granada s province, and our Diputación joined the Royal Spanish Shooting Federation in their striving efforts to prepare this huge competition for all Shooting Events, which include Olympic and Sporting Events for Shotgun, Rifle, Pistol, Running Target and 300m, in Male, Female & Juniors Categories. Here, the best shooting athletes from around the World will also contend for a Spot in the next Olympic Games. Supported by the Diputación, the town of Las Gabias has the endorsement of being also the former venue for other very important national and International Sport Shooting events, like the ISSF World Cups or CIT Iberoamerican Championships. Also I want to invite the athletes, and their coaches and families, to take advantage of the days of their stay here to visit some of the very attractive places we have, like the Alpujarra or Costa Tropical beaches, as well as special spots in throughout Granada city, and places with interesting nature environment like la Vega or high mountains in Sierra Nevada, sung by poets, from Lorca to Washington Irving. Como máximo responsable de la ciudad de Granada, quiero aprovechar estas líneas para agradecer a los organizadores de este gran evento deportivo que hayan escogido nuestra tierra para celebrar el Campeonato del Mundo de Tiro Olímpico.
