2 Historial Reciente del Grupo El objectivo científico del grupo de investigación consiste en el diseño y desarrollo de técnicas avanzadas de procesado e interpretación de señales biomédicas para la monitorización, diagnóstico y terapia de patologías. Los objectivos parciales son: a) El estudio de aspectos teóricos del análisis de la señal y de su aplicabilidad a la interpretación de señales biomédicas para poder mejorar el procesado de la información médica; b) El desarrollo de aplicaciones tecnológicas para su utilización en el entorno hospitalario, que incluyen la utilización de instrumentación médica real; c) El modelado y simulación de sistemas biológicos para mejorar el conocimiento de los sistemas fisiológicos y para el diseño de mejoras terapéuticas; d) La caracterización de las secuencias obtenidas en estudios genómicos y proteómicos para el análisis de patologías. Los campos de aplicación son: electrocardiografía, monitorización ambulatoria, actividad muscular respiratoria, sonidos respiratorios, señales de ronquido, variabilidad del patrón respiratorio, acoplamiento cardiorespiratorio, electroencefalografía, señales polisomnográficas, secuencias de ADN, estructuras de proteinas, etc. Las técnicas de procesado e interpretación de señales incluyen: Representaciones tiempo-frecuencia Análisis de complejidad Modelado con redes neuronales Análisis de la dinámica no lineal de sistemas Análisis estadístico de bioseñales Procesado adaptativo de señales Reconocimiento de patrones Métodos de asociación aplicado a: Señales cardiovasculares: Electrocardiográficas (ECG), Electrocardiográficas de alta resolución (HRECG), Variabilidad del ritmo cardíaco (HRV) y Presión sanguínea (BP) Señales respiratorias: Presión, Volumen, Flujo y Sonidos respiratorios Señales neuronales: Electroencefalográficas (EEG) y Potenciales evocados (EP) Señales miográficas: Electromiográficas (EMG) y Vibromiográficas (VMG) Genómica y proteómica Algunos de los temas de investigación actuales son: Análisis tiempo-frecuencia de señales electrocardiográficas para el diagnóstico de cardiopatías Análisis de la variabilidad del ritmo cardíaco mediante cadenas ocultas de Markov para la identificación de pacientes con elevado riesgo de muerte súbita Análisis de la variabilidad del patrón respiratorio con métodos de la dinámica no lineal para determinar el momento óptimo de extubación de pacientes sometidos a ventilación artificial Análisis de señales electromiográficas y vibromiográficas de los músculos respiratorios para el diagnóstico de pacientes con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica
