Editorial / Leader Article El Colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad El Bosque, comprometido con la calidad. A lo largo de 14 años de experiencia de la institución, en el Colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad El Bosque, se ha promocionado hacía la vida académica universitaria más de mil graduados, que al pasar de los años, se han incorporado a las esferas productivas del país. El reto de la Institución continúa, por eso es importante un alto en el camino para reforzar los puntos débiles de la función pedagógica, expuesta en el Proyecto Educativo Institucional, así como estimular las fortalezas que han hecho del colegio, un lugar atractivo para los jóvenes y sus padres, que ven en este tipo de formación, una alternativa en el mercado educativo como respuesta a sus expectativas e intereses. El proyecto educativo institucional del Colegio se ha caracterizado por brindar un programa académico bilingüe semestralizado, coeducacional, de alta calidad y con la posibilidad de ofrecer áreas de profundización, que incorporan al educando con el sistema universitario. Estas características, han constituido la columna vertebral de la Institución, sumada a las nuevas necesidades del desarrollo tecnológico y epistemológico de las diferentes áreas del saber. La misión expuesta en el proyecto educativo, se ha constituido en una fortaleza y directriz fundamental como nexo entre la universidad y el colegio, permitiendo a través de ella, la construcción de competencias institucionales que expresan los diversos niveles teleológicos a los que se pretende llegar por parte de la comunidad académica. La experiencia de este proyecto innovador fortalecida por la existencia de un buen PEI (Proyecto Educativo Institucional) y el planteamiento de diversos proyectos transversales, requiere de un plan de ejecución que permita llevar a cabo con mayor precisión, dirección y sentido, lo establecido por los documentos existentes. Por eso en febrero de 2010, se dio inicio al proceso de certificación desde el modelo European Foundation For Quality Management, EFQM, de excelencia, con el fin de desencadenar ciclos de mejora y una cultura de autoevaluación y planeación continua. Con este modelo, se busca identificar los puntos fuertes evidencias y áreas de mejora de los diferentes procesos de la institución, para luego elaborar ejecutar y evaluar los planes de acción de la organización educativa. El Colegio en 2013, reanudó su proceso de calidad en la fase comprometidos con la excelencia, trabajo que rendirá réditos para finales de 2014, en donde se espera fortalecer aún más lo existente y poner un listón alto en la cultura de la planeación y la calidad. Since the challenge of the institution continues, it is really important to make a stop on the journey to strengthen the weak points of the pedagogical work established by our institutional educational project as well as stimulate the school s strengths. Those strengths have made of our school an attractive alternative for young people and their parents in the educational market as an answer to their expectations and interests. Our institutional educational Project has been characterized for providing a half yearly bilingual coeducational qualified academic program and with this, the possibility to offer different areas in the field of superior education. Those characteristics mentioned above have constituted the backbone of our institution together with the technological and epistemological development needs of the different branches of knowledge. The presented mission of our educational project has been established as a nexus with the university since a strong fundamental guideline. It allows the construction of institutional competences that expresses different technological levels that the school aims to find through the academic community. The experience of this innovative Project that has been strengthened because of the existence of a good PEI (Institutional Educational Project) and the approach of several cross-cutting projects requires an implementation plan that permits to carry out the direction and the sense of our mission precisely. Therefore in February of 2010, the school began with the quality certification process EFQM (European Foundation For Quality Management) in order to trigger improvement cycles and a culture of self-assessment and continuous planning. With this model (EFQM), the school aims to identify the strengths and improvement areas of the different processes of our institution and then implement and evaluate the educational organization s action plans. Author: Germán Augusto Neuta Garzón Translated by: Diana Marcela Fúneme Estupiñán El Xbox One Impacto / Impact El nuevo Xbox One lanzado por Microsoft el 22 de noviembre de El mundo cibernético evoluciona a un ritmo acelerado descubriendo nuevas tecnologías que son favorables para todas las personas, como nuevos computadores, celulares, gafas inteligentes, robots, etc. Las consolas de videojuegos, son otro ejemplo de la evolución tecnológica que acapara el interés de aquellos que viven a la vanguardia en materia de tecnología, éstas a su vez cambian constantemente mejorando sus aplicaciones. La diversión y el entretenimiento van más allá del realismo, donde jugar se convierte en un mundo de relaciones con otros jugadores que comparten el gusto por los videojuegos y además, en el que se experimentan sistemas más inteligentes y más ágiles. Ello no quiere decir que no pueden tener defectos, pueden ser pocos, pero los tienen. Por eso quiero que te sorprendas con el Xbox One, una nueva videoconsola producida por Microsoft, diseñada para que los jugadores se diviertan y experimenten nuevas tecnologías, pero sobre todo, para dejarlos sin aliento. Esta nueva videoconsola tiene lo mejor, en lo que más te gusta como películas, series, música, deporte y juegos, todo en un mismo lugar. Puedes pasar de una a otra, en tan sólo un instante o simplemente realizar dos actividades al mismo tiempo. Por ejemplo, puedes tener una conversación por skype mientras juegas o ves una película y jugar, las combinaciones las escoges tú. Esta consola tiene características similares a otras antiguas, pero también características que la hacen ser única e incomparable con otras. Algunas de esas características son: Un sistema de Kinect permanente (cámara que reconoce gestos, micrófono para dar órdenes de voz), un reproductor de Blu-ray, el puente HDMI (que te permite ver la tele desde tu Xbox), un procesador de x86 de ocho núcleos (que permite pasar de un juego a una aplicación de entretenimiento en un instante), 8GB de RAM y 500GB de disco duro (memoria más que suficiente para tus juegos, películas, apps, música, etc), opciones para personalizar la pantalla de inicio de tu Xbox One y la mejor calidad de imagen tan real como la vida misma. Además te puedes conectar con tus amigos por medio de Xboxlive (usando los auriculares), para divertirte en compañía. Los accesorios son la consola Xbox One, sensor Kinect, cable HDMI, mando inalámbrico, auriculares para charla, kit carga & juega, adaptador para auriculares estéreo y accesorios extras que son usados para juegos específicos como el Thrustmaster: TX Racing Wheel, Ferrari 458 Italia Edition (manubrio). Existe un Pack Xbox One con Call of Duty Ghosts que incluye todo lo anterior más una versión digital de Call of Duty Chosts y contenido extra para el modo de multijugador (camuflaje de arma, retícula y distintivo). Como cualquier producto, tiene muchas ventajas y beneficios extraordinarios, pero a la vez puede tener sus pequeños defectos, en este caso se ha recibido críticas fuertes desde que fue lanzado el producto al mercado y se encontró detalles sobre el precio de la consola. En algunos lugares los precios son bastante elevados, como en otros pueden no serlo (499$ en Estados Unidos y 499 en Europa). Otra crítica, ha sido por los detalles políticos de la consola como que exige una conexión permanente a Internet. 2

3 Una de las críticas más fuertes que han tenido que recibir, ha sido el desacuerdo con que el sensor de Kinect es obligatorio, por lo que no se encuentra ni una sola consola de Xbox One, que no la tenga. Aspecto que resulta molesto para muchos usuarios que piensan que como el sensor de Kinect estaría conectado permanentemente interferiría con la privacidad del usuario. En conclusión, debemos asesorarnos muy bien antes de adquirir el Xbox One, teniendo muy presente las ventajas mencionadas y al mismo tiempo las críticas que le han hecho a los creadores del producto. Videogames are one of the most common examples of how the technology is changing constantly for the people who are always at the vanguard in these cybernetic terms. Fun and entertainment are beyond realism, where play becomes a world of relationships between players that share their passion for videogames as well they want to experiment more advanced videogame systems. According to this, the Xbox One, the new console made by Microsoft, is designed for the player that needs a challenge which leaves him or her without breath. This console has the capacity to do more than one thing at the moment, it means, you can play something while you re watching a movie, or listening to music during a TV show. It s your choice how many combinations you can do with these options. This console has some similar features from the former consoles, but what makes it unique are these incomparable features: A permanent Kinect system (A camera with move sensor, and microphones with voice recognition), a Blue-Ray player, an HDMI bridge to watch TV from your Xbox, an eight core x86 processor that allows you to shift between applications, and an 8GB RAM with 500GB of hard disk, that s more enough space for your games, videos, music, etc. Also, this console has integrated games as Thrust master: TX Racing Wheel and Ferrari 458 Italia Edition. There s also an Xbox One edition that includes Call of Duty: Ghost, the awarded first shot multiplayer from Activision, with extra content and special features. Like any product, it has many advantages and extraordinary benefits, but also it can have its minor flaws. The Xbox One has been strongly criticized since it was launched to the market, because in some places it s very expensive, and in others may not be ($ 499 in USA and 499 in Europe). Another criticism has been the political details of the console as it requires a permanent Internet connection. The biggest critic to the Xbox One, according to the Internet connection, is that the Kinect system is always working, and the users are disagreed with this, because it may interfere with their privacy. Los profesores e investigadores de la facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencia que han realizado este estudio durante mucho tiempo, utilizaron diferentes materiales con el fin de crear este innovador músculo, incluyendo el dióxido de vanadio. Éste compuesto químico ha contribuido sustancialmente a la realización de dicho elemento debido a sus efectos termodinámicos, por ejemplo, puede convertirse en un material con alta conducción de energía, a pesar de que se puede aislar a temperaturas muy bajas, por esto mismo y debido a sus cualidades eléctricas y químicas, el músculo puede moverse y actuar correctamente. A su vez gracias al cambio rápido de fase que posee, este material se utiliza para la fabricación de motores con el fin de hacerlos trabajar más velózmente. Principalmente, el diseño acerca de estos nuevos tipos de músculos se hizo para crear robots capaces de realizar actividades que se asemejen a las humanas, ya que por un lado son capaces de lanzar objetos a largas distancias, pero por otro son capaces de levantar peso mucho mayor que su propio, cosa que es más impresionante. Como se mencionó anteriormente, éstos poseen una fuerza superior a la de los humanos ya que un humano promedio es capaz de levantar sólo la mitad de su peso, finalmente los científicos les han brindado algo importante a los pacientes gracias al aporte y resultado de sus estudios. Actualmente, los seres humanos han necesitado los robots para que puedan ejercer ciertos trabajos y tareas, y es conveniente utilizar estos y otros elementos, a medida que la estudios sigan evolucionando, puesto que su uso está puesto al servicio de toda la humanidad. Por esto y muchas otras razones debemos estar agradecidos con las nuevas tecnologías ya que para las personas será útil en el futuro utilizar este tipo de herramientas, que sustituirán a las funciones humanas. The teachers and researchers of the engineering and science faculty who have conducted this study for a long time used different materials in order to create this innovative muscle, including vanadium dioxide. This chemical compound substantially helped to the realization of this muscle due to its thermodynamic effects, for example it can become into a very conductive material even though it can be isolated at very low temperatures, so due to its electrical and chemical characteristics it can move and act correctly. And thanks to the abrupt phase change, this material is used to manufacture engines because it makes them work faster. 5 El Colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad El Bosque se ha destacado por tener un deporte bandera, el voleibol. Sin embargo el Colegio le ha apostado a uno de los deportes que más acogida tiene en la población estudiantil masculina, el fútbol. Para contextualizar a nuestro lector con relación a la evolución que ha tenido este deporte en nuestra Institución haré referencia a sus inicios. Hace algunos años, el Colegio contó con un equipo de fútbol el cual participó en el torneo de 2004, contra las facultades de la Universidad y llegó a ser campeón, junto con la dirección del señor Rector Germán Neuta, quien en ese entonces, era el director técnico del equipo. Después de ese torneo, el equipo no volvió a participar en estos eventos, no obstante en el segundo semestre de 2013, surgió la propuesta de hacer un nuevo equipo para participar en la Asociación de Colegios del Norte, ACN, esta idea emerge gracias a la construcción del nuevo campus de la Universidad, el cual cuenta con una cancha profesional de fútbol. Gracias a este espacio, el equipo cobra vida y tiene la posibilidad de entrenarse y jugar. Ante esta propuesta, se abre la convocatoria para el equipo de fútbol, y de ese modo se seleccionó a sus participantes. Tras realizar el partido de selección, al cual varios estudiantes asistieron, los respectivos profesores publicaron en la cartelera del Colegio los seleccionados que iban a conformar el equipo ese semestre. Esta selección contó con la orientación de la profesora Mabel Castillo, el coordinador, Eider Sánchez y el señor rector, Germán Neuta. El rector del Colegio fue el director técnico en los primeros entrenamientos y en uno de los primeros partidos, pero ante la falta de tiempo, surgió la necesidad de un cambio de director técnico, razón por la cual se llamó al profesor de fútbol de la Universidad, quien aceptó trabajar con el equipo y acompañarlo durante los entrenamientos y el campeonato. El entrenador Giovanni Benítez aconseja a la selección del colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad El Bosque. El primer partido del equipo con el nuevo director técnico fue contra la Universidad América, este fue un partido de preparación para enfrentar el torneo de la ACN. Tras un partido parejo durante los primeros minutos de juego, el equipo vencedor fue la Universidad de América con un resultado de 8-2. Después de esta derrota se corrigieron errores durante los entrenamientos para poder afrontar el primer partido del campeonato. Después de varios entrenamientos llegó el día en el que el equipo iba a debutar en el torneo de la ACN, siendo un equipo prácticamente nuevo, ya que se formó unas semanas antes del inicio de éste. El resultado fue un empate con el Liceo Moderno, el equipo estaba motivado ya que fue un buen resultado pero los otros dos encuentros los perdió quedando de último en su grupo y eliminado del torneo en la primera fase. Tras la eliminación se dejaron las prácticas por un tiempo y después se disputó un partido contra los profesores del colegio en el Día Deportivo. El 13 de enero de 2014 se retomaron las clases para calendario B y el 27 de enero para calendario A, al ser inicio de año varios estudiantes ingresaron a la institución y de nuevo surgió la idea de retomar el equipo de fútbol para que participe en nuevos torneos. Ahora sólo nos queda esperar y prepararnos para dejar muy en alto el nombre del colegio. Soccer comes back to school Autor: Sergio Espinosa Rincón (Grado 11B) The bilingual school of the University El Bosque is known for having a single sport, volleyball, nevertheless, the school is also confident in one of the sports that boys love the most, soccer. In order to contextualize our reader with the evolution of this sport in our institution, I will refer to its beginnings. A few years ago, there was a soccer team at the school which played a tournament in 2004 against the faculties of the University and became champion together with the prin- cipal Germán Neuta who was the technical director by that time. After this tournament, the team did not return to take part in these events. Notwithstanding, in the second half of 2013, a proposal to make a new soccer team emerged in order to participate in ACN (Asociación de Colegios del Norte), this idea arises due to the construction of the new campus of the University which has a professional soccer field. Because of this place, the team has the possibility to be trained and play matches. As a result of this proposal, the school invited candidates to participate in the selection of the members of the team through a match. After the soccer game, the students were selected and the teachers published the names of the members for that semester on the undercard of the school. This team counted on the orientation of the teacher Mabel Castillo, the coordinator Eider Sanchez and the principal German Neuta. At the beginning, the school principal was the technical director in the first workouts and in one of the first matches, but time was not enough and due to this there was the need to change the technical director. For this reason, the soccer teacher of the university was called in order to train the team and accompany it during the championship. The first match of the team with new coach was against the University of America, this was a preparation match in order to face the ACN tournament. After an even match during the first minutes of the game, the winning team was the University of America with a score of 8-2. After this defeat, errors were corrected during workouts to confront the first match of the Championship. After several workouts, the great day arrived. The team had the first debut in the tournament of the CAN being a practically new team, since it was formed a few weeks before this. The result was a draw with the Liceo Moderno school and due to this, the team was motivated. Unfortunately, the team lost the other twomatchesand the team was eliminated of the tournament in the first phase. As a result of the elimination, the training was postponed for some time but the team played again in a match against the teachers of the school on the sports day. On January 13th, students from calendar B resumed their lessons at the school and calendar A did it onjanuary 27th. As the academic year began, many new students were enrolled and the idea of taking up the soccer team again was considered in order to participate in new tournaments. Now, we expect to have a good participation and ensure high visibility of the school in the future tournaments. Me he encontrado con algunas de las personas más increíbles de mi vida y amigos que nunca voy a olvidar, Actualmente estoy ensayando para dos obras: El arte de sacar la maleta de Pablo Rubiano y la Siempre Viva de Miguel Torres. Gracias al Colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad El Bosque, he tenido la posibilidad de acercarme más a mi sueño y explorar la faceta de un artista. Igualmente, he conocido personas que han contribuido en la construcción de este sueño y por primera vez salir de la burbuja en la que estuve atrapado tanto tiempo. It has always been a passion to me and it s something that I ve loved since I was a baby. I studied at several academies and with several teachers, and then I started doing it at school (before I joined the Bilingual School of the University El Bosque). My first play was the golden bird and I performed the role of the bird. itself. This was about eleven years ago, when I was in first grade. I Continued working on the theatre during the secondary and I took part in two completely different plays, the Odyssey by Homero and The Immortal by Borges. He estudiado actuación durante todo el tiempo que puedo recordar. Siempre ha sido una pasión para mí y es algo que he querido desde que era un bebé. Estudié en varias academias y con varios maestros, luego empecé a hacerlo en el colegio (antes de unirme al Colegio Bilingüe de la Universidad el Bosque). Mi primera obra fue El pájaro de oro y el papel que representé fue el mismo pájaro de oro. Esto fue hace unos once años, cuando yo estaba en primer grado. Continué ejerciendo el teatro durante la secundaria y participé en dos obras completamente diferentes, La Odisea de Homero y El inmortal de Borges. Pero desde que me uní a este Colegio, nunca me he sentido más cerca de mi pasión y profesión futura. Esto porque particularmente, la Institución ofrece una conexión sin igual con la Universidad, lo que significa que no sólo podía tomar algunas clases con alguna carrera en particular (cosa que no hice), sino que podía unirme a los talleres que allí se ofrecían. Aquí he aprendido más de lo que he hecho en toda mi vida y he sido más feliz que nunca. Una de las cosas más sorprendentes que me han sucedido fue tener clases con el maestro de los maestros, René Ríos, quien me enseñó cuando yo tenía seis años, era una especie de experiencia meta, But ever since I joined this school, I ve never felt closer to my passion and future profession. Thanks to the Bilingual School of the University El Bosque, I have had the possibility of being closer to my dream and exploring the facet of an artist. Likewise, I have met many people who have contributed me in the construction of this dream and for the first time to be out of the bubble in which I was caught for so long time. Es así, como en 2013, disfrutaron de la salida a Suesca, los equipos de fútbol y voleibol, Día del Idioma y de Inglés, entre otras, y en lo referente a las actividades de la Universidad, hicieron parte de la celebración de la semana Anglófona. En Suesca, los estudiantes pudieron disfrutar de actividades como escalar en roca, senderismo, rappel, espeleología y ante todo compartir con compañeros y docentes, permitiéndoles conocerse un poco más. Fue un espacio en el que se pudo gozar de un día diferente, con un clima maravilloso y un paisaje cautivador, propio de esta región cundinamarquesa. Los equipos de fútbol y voleibol del Colegio les brindan la posibilidad a los estudiantes de participar en diferentes torneos llevando el nombre de la Institución, fortaleciendo sus competencias como grupo y potenciando sus habilidades deportivas El Día del Idioma y de Inglés les dió la posibilidad de participar con Los Cuadros Vivos y Bosqueland, respectivamente. En estos se vió un despliegue de talentos, conocimiento e intereses que nos motiva a esperar mejor calidad y un trabajo excelente para este Así mismo, se recibió la invitación de la Universidad para participar en la semana Anglófona y a la que acudimos con el Museo Anglófono. Durante esta semana, los estudiantes realizaron exposiciones de la literatura británica, cine representativo de esta cultura, un recorrido turístico por los sitios más sobresalientes del Reino Unido y se finalizó con el desfile de trajes de época desde los años 50 a la actualidad, amenizado por un concierto de rock, teniendo como invitado al Grupo White Fantasy, cuyo bajista era el estudiante Enrique Arbeláez de grado 11. Es por esto, que estamos listos y al ritmo de samba seguir participando en esta semana de Internacionalización, pues para este año el país invitado es Brasil. 6

7 Giselle García y Carol Rincón estudiantes de grado 11B desfilan en el fashion show en la semana de internacionalización el 16 de agosto de In Suesca, the students could enjoy activities like rock climbing, walking from the town along the train tracks for about 10 minutes, abseiling, going caving, and most of all sharing with partners and teachers; activity that let them know better each other. This was a different atmosphere, with a wonderful climate and captivating scenery, characteristic of this Cundinamarquesa region. The soccer and volleyball teams of the school afford the students the opportunity to participate in different tournaments, showing the name of the school to the community, strengthening them as a team and developing their sport skills. The Language and English Day gave them the possibility to participate with The Alive Portraits and the Bosqueland, respectively, in which we could see a display of talent, knowledge and interest what let us think the students will improve the quality and do an excellent job in In the same way, the University invited us to participate in the Ango-Saxon Week, where the students did different presentations about British literature, British Movies, a Sightseeing tour through the United Kingdom, and last but not least, a fashion show from the 50s to nowadays styles and a rock band to make it pleasant. It was White Fantasy band with the eleventh-grade student, Enrique Arbeláez, at the bass. Citar no es difícil, es una cuestión de práctica y tan sólo toma una línea con los datos del lugar de donde se han tomado las cosas, un paréntesis con tres datos básicos, o por lo menos un par de comillas o la utilización de la cursiva, como para que al menos se sospeche algo.
