1 Latino de Oro 2015 Scholarships Identidad Latina Bilingual Publication is establishing this year a student scholarship to be presented at the Award Ceremony Latino de Oro The contest awards two students with a cash scholarship of $1,000 each. The deadline to receive applications is August 7, Scholarships allow deserving students to attain their educational goals, meet their professional objectives and succeed to their fullest ability. For that reason, Latino de Oro Scholarship Program has been designed to support one of the organization s missions to improve educational opportunities of the Latino community to reach its full potential. A $1,000 merit-based and need-based scholarship will be awarded to two CT High school seniors graduating in 2015, who demonstrate achievement, potential and commitment to pursuing a higher education at 2 year or 4 year College or University in CT. The winners will be the students who best reflect the goals of the scholarship sponsor. Project involves a composition of an essay that explains your hopes and educational goals. The written work can be in English or Spanish and the minimum amount of words is 500. La fecha para recibir aplicaciones es el 7 de Agosto del Las becas escolares permiten a estudiantes merecedores alcanzar sus objetivos educacionales, profesionales y poder triunfar al máximo en sus habilidades. Por esta razón, Latino de Oro Scholarship Program ha sido diseñado para apoyar una de las misiones de la Organización mejorando las oportunidades educacionales de la comunidad latina para alcanzar su mayor potencial. La beca escolar es equivalente a $1,000 dólares se otorga basada en el merito y economía del estudiante. Esta se otorgará a 2 estudiantes de High School (bachillerato) que estén por graduarse en el 2015 y que hayan demostrado logros, potencial y compromiso para continuar una educación superior de 2 a 4 años en un Colegio o Universidad de CT. Los estudiantes ganadores serán los que reflejen los objetivos de la beca Latino de Oro Existe un proyecto que deben de realizar y es el de escribir una composición a manera de ensayo que explique sus anhelos y objetivos educacionales. 2 Qualification Guidelines for Latino de Oro Scholarship 2015 Scholarship Criteria Be of Latino descent. Connecticut resident. Be a senior in high school graduating in Demonstrate financial need. Application must be postmarked by Friday, August 7, Basis for selection of scholarship recipients There will be two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 per recipient. 1. The scholarships will be administered by Latino de Oro Inc Scholarship Committee. 2. The scholarship must be applied to a community or four year college or university. 3. The selected recipients must be present to accept scholarship award at the Latino de Oro 2015 Award celebrated on September 5th, Selected recipients who are not present will forfeit the scholarship award. 4. The Winner's list will be available on Latino de Oro website upon selection. Requirements Fill out a Latino de Oro 2015 scholarship application form. Present official high school or college transcripts. ( sealed envelopes) Submit a letter of recommendation from a school or community representative. Submit an essay in English or Spanish with a minimum of 500 words that explains your hopes, current educational goals and economic situation including why do you think you are a good candidate for this scholarship? Include career objectives. People who submit essays are urged to check their spelling and grammar. Provide income documentation (see checklist). Include any other relevant information or supporting documents with your application. 1
