PRESENTATION The second edition of SICUR LATINOAMÉRICA in Chile The second edition of SICUR LATINOAMÉRICA took place in Espacio Riesco, Santiago Chile, from 15 to 17 October 2014 After the excellent results of SICUR LATINOAMERICA, held in April 2013, with the participation of over 120 companies and the attendance of nearly 6,000 professionals, IFEMA and FISA agreed to organise the Show on an annual basis to stimulate meetings between companies and professionals from both continents in an area that is destined to become one of the main benchmarks for the Latin American security and safety markets. SICUR LATINOAMÉRICA is the only exhibition in Latin America that deals with the security and safety industry from an overall view: industrial safety, public safety, protection against natural disasters, and security and safety in general. Chile is valued as the best emerging economy in Latin America, with average GDP growth of 4.6% per year between 2005 and According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Chile is one of the top 20 most attractive economies as a result of accessibility to its market, its financial stability, its low investment risk and its business potential. The trends and challenges that affect the security and safety industry in Chile such as the fact that it is a seismic country and some areas are inaccessible, which require the state to make sizeable investments in emergency protection and management, and the hazards caused by the droughts, which have destroyed the central area, so the country needs to develop the fire protection sector. Other opportunities include the private security market, which has grown an average of 14% per year since 2010, and the industrial safety sector, whose development has been boosted by the concern about reducing costs as a result of occupational accidents, which account for 19% of the operating budget for any industry in Chile. Additionally, the government has implemented initiatives through a regulatory framework that obligates companies to invest in occupational safety. 2

VISITORS SICUR Latinoamérica 2014, second edition of the International Exhibition of Equipment, Products, Technologies and Services for Comprehensive Safety, was organized by IFEMA and FISA, took place at Espacio Riesco Convention Center in Santiago, between 15 and 17 October, had 5,450 visitors and nearly 300 business meetings between suppliers of integrated security technologies and users of medium and large businesses, These data have exceeded initial expectations by 4.6% and 14%, respectively, confirm the growing leadership of SICUR Latin America as a meeting between international industry, represented by the participation of a hundred companies from 14 countries and professionals and users of security from the American continent, mainly from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, and the United States and Canada; Eurasian, with visitors from Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia and Sweden, among others, and Asia, with the presence of professionals from South Korea, China, Israel, Pakistan and Japan. The fair was also visited by high Chilean authorities and agencies responsible on security and emergency: the Minister of the Interior and Public Security of the country, Rodrigo Peñailillo, who stressed the importance of this event for companies to renew and examine new technologies in the world, designed to face up organized crime, improve job security and implement policies to deal with emergencies or disasters. The Secretary for Crime Prevention, Antonio Frey, stressed the need for Chile to be constantly alert to technological innovations in public safety. "No rule, with this fast technological advance and dynamism we are seeing in the market, may be forever, and we're going to have to get used to incorporate measures that may be more effective, as the art of inking and smoke occurs when an ATM is violated, "said the authority. 9
