3 ARTESANÍA Y DESARROLLO Expoartesanías congrega 800 expositores entre los que se encuentran 113 comunidades indígenas y afrocolombianas y 200 grupos campesinos quienes vencen increíbles obstáculos para llegar con sus productos a la principal feria de América Latina. Desde sus inicios, Expoartesanías ha venido creciendo cada año, lo cual es un excelente indicador en ventas para el sector artesanal personas visitaron Expoartesanías el año pasado, se realizaron ventas por 7,2 millones de dólares y se espera un crecimiento de al menos 5% para este año, lo cual confirma la importancia del evento para el sector. La artesanía genera empleo, ingresos y divisas. Es una alternativa viable para el desarrollo y la conservación del patrimonio del país. Más de un millón de colombianos viven de la artesanía, de los cuales el 70% son mujeres. 4 Expoartesanías Expoartesanías, la principal feria artesanal de América latina, es un programa estratégico que busca fomentar altos estándares de calidad en los productos artesanales así como capacitación en diseño, comercialización y promoción. La feria dinamiza el sector artesanal y se ha constituido en plataforma para que comercializadores y almacenes encuentren productos con calidad e identidad. Año tras año, Expoartesanías cumple con el propósito de comercializar el producto artesanal; permite a los compradores negociar directamente con los artesanos y facilita un acercamiento directo con el mercado; rescata las tradiciones, convierte el o cio en una actividad rentable, aporta al bienestar socioeconómico de los artesanos y hace efectivas las exigencias de la demanda. Expoartesanías, the most important fair of Latin America, is a strategic program that aims to promote high quality standards in the products, and also training in design, marketing and promotion. The fair streamlines the artisan sector and has been established as a platform so that merchants and stores can nd high quality and identity products. Year after year, Expoartesanías meets the purpose of merchandising the artisanal product, allows the buyer to negotiate directly with the artisans which allows for a close interaction with the market. It also rescues the traditions, converts the occupation into a pro table activity, contributes to the artisans socioeconomic welfare and makes effective the requirements of the demand.
