Please see the schedule below: Tuesday, September 16 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM Tuesday, September 23 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM We are in need of people willing to commit an hour to ensure the Blessed Sacrament is never left alone. Please call Rediscover Catholicism On page 181, Matthew Kelly tells us why his prayer time in Church is more fruitful than at any other time. He says: The second reason I think my daily prayer time seems more effective when I am able to spend that time in a church is the supernatural reason. I believe that Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist, and that he is present in a very unique and powerful way in every tabernacle, in every Catholic church around the world. I think his presence makes a difference. How could it not? Our church is open from early morning to evening for you to spend time in prayer before the tabernacle. We are also blessed to have Eucharistic Adoration every Tuesday and first Fridays. Our doors and Christ s arms are open and welcome you to visit. THE GIFT OF TREASURE With gratitude for gifts received, parishioners and visitors made a joyful return to the Lord: September 7, 2014 COLLECTION YTD 2014/2015 $30, $261, /2014 $32, $284, Envelope $12, Cash loose $2, Checks loose $5, Online Giving $9, $30, The Exaltation of the Holy Cross Crucifixion was the ultimate disgrace. It was not something clean and quick like dying before a firing squad with soldiers in uniforms executing with military precision. The victim was pinned like a butterfly on a board. He was an animal caught in a trap and left to die a slow death. Practically naked, spread-eagled on nails or ropes, the criminal died outside the city, listening to the sneers of a few bored soldiers. It is not really the triumph of the cross, of course, that we are celebrating, but the triumph of God's forgiving love. The cross tells us that there is no power on earth, even our free will and all the organized forces of evil that can prevent anyone, anywhere, from being lifted out of sin, misery, disgrace, despair, and loneliness to the arms of God. The triumph of Jesus disgraceful cross is a reminder that people can talk about some of the undramatic or even painful parts of our life with admiration: That old house is where Mary became a saint. That's where dad plowed, here's where he fed the pigs. That's the dress we couldn't get the blood out, mother was wearing when she died. That's the street corner where Joe was booed for carrying a picket sign. Jesus cross and ours. Resurrection and glory are hiding behind them. Registration Forms may be mailed or personally turned in no later than September 19, 2014 to the parish office. Registration fee: $80. Youth Ministry Office Hours Tuesday 9 am- 12 noon Wednesday 3pm 7pm Thursday 10 am 2pm Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion Review/Training On Sunday, September 21, after the 5:00 PM mass, there will be a short review/training of Eucharistic Ministry procedures for any current and future Eucharistic Ministers. This meeting is open to all those who currently serve and need clarification on the new procedures and to those who are considering becoming a Eucharistic Minister. After students move to their class rooms (in the parish Center) Parents stay for a 30 min orientation. Please note that students need to be enrolled in the program before they are able to attend classes. These meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend, with no charge and are facilitated by Dcn Rick & Ann Pomphrey, and a trained facilitator from Hospice of the North Coast. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEWS Our architect domustudios and Peace Engineering will be submitting our preliminary CUP (Conditional Use Permit) application next week to the City of Carlsbad. Schematic design continues on our new school as well as our Master Plan phasing. We continue to raise money for these construction projects, as we have not yet met our goal. Our new altar, ambo, tabernacle stand, processional cross, chairs and crucifix will arrive in late October and be installed in St. Patrick Church. Our ambo and crucifix are still available for sponsorship. 6 An Invitation Eucharistic to Rediscover Adoration I myself Am the Living Bread come down from Heaven. (John 6:35) You are invited to spend one hour with Jesus at Rediscover Eucharistic Adoration beginning on Sunday, October 5th in the Church (see schedule below). You may sign up to be an adorer on the church patio after all Masses the weekends of September 20/21and 27/28. Sunday, October 5 Adoration begins after the 5 pm 7 8 pm. Monday, October 6 Adoration begins after the 8 am 6 7 pm. Healing Mass will follow the close of Adoration at 7 pm. Tuesday, October 7 Adoration begins after the 8 am 7 8 pm. Wednesday, October 8 Adoration begins after the 8 am 6:30 7:30 pm. Hispanic Charismatic Mass will follow the close of Adoration at 7:30 pm. St. Patrick s Knights of Columbus Council The Knights of Columbus will be holding their Annual Rubio's fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 21 at Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill on El Camino Real in Carlsbad. Please support this event by bringing a flyer to Rubio's and enjoying lunch or dinner on that date. Management will donate 20% of the cost of your order to the Knights. Last year, over $540 was collected and donated to St. Patrick School. Flyers will be distributed after all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your support! Attention all incoming 9th graders! SAVE THE DATE! The High School Youth Ministry Program at St. Patrick s is hosting: A Blast Off for Freshmen! Join your friends for a FUN day of games, team building, great food, music, praise and worship, and spiritual growth! Sat., October 4, from 2:30-10:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. It s going to be an AWESOME time with the main purpose of getting you off to a great start with the Youth Ministry program.
