2 Page 1 Our Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Community February 23, 2014 A GIVE to TOGETHER IN MISSION Together In Mission, a pledge drive asking the whole archdiocese to contribute to help our poorest schools and parishes, is a dynamic opportunity for us to attend to the needs of local people. We don't have to look far to find families who cannot afford to keep their schools open or to maintain their own Church. There are 37 parishes and 56 elementary schools whose doors would not be open without the support parishes like ours provide. This most worthy fund deserves our enthusiastic response. We need to raise $43, through your fulfilled pledges or generous gifts by check or credit cards. This amount is not arbitrary but an assessment based on 10% of our ordinary income from last year. Any amount you fulfill over this will be returned to our parish for our needs. Last year over $6, was returned to us, which we definitely need as we face expenses like the improved sound system for our church. VISIT THE SCIENCE FAIR DISPLAY WEDNESDAY Every year our students participate in our science fair. You will be impressed with the creativity and depth of knowledge expressed in their science projects. Come by the St. Augustine Center on Wednesday, the 26th from 1:00 on. COME TO THE PARTY this Saturday, March 1st at 6:30, after the 5:30 Mass I am very grateful to God for the health and faith He has given me. I invite you to come to a celebration of my 75 years to help provide items for our exciting May 3 Black and White Auction, and to enjoy being with fellow members of the parish. High School Confirmation Upcoming Dates: Youth Day, March 13, 2014: Youth Day is a fun way to learn, praise, and worship with 14,000 other youths around the US. It is $30 to attend. Please bring your cash or check payable to OMGC by March 2, 2014 to the parish office. Homeless Luncheon: February 22 is our monthly service opportunity. Please meet at the parish hall on Friday, February 21 from 4-7PM and/or Sunday, February 22 from 10AM-2PM. This is a great way to make up your service hours. Remember, you must have completed 1 homeless luncheon shift to fulfill our guidelines, and what better way to give back to the community who continues to give. Please keep our year 2 candidates in your prayers as they embark on their retreat. MS. The Teachers of Our Mother of Good Counsel School The Faculty of OMGC is made up of 9 full time classroom teachers, 3 specials teachers, and our Principal. We currently have a full curriculum of classes with Physical Education, Technology/Computers class, Spanish, and Music each taught weekly to grades K through 8th grade. Jaime Enriquez Mr. Jaime Enriquez received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from California State University, Dominguez Hills and his Multi/Single Subject California Teaching Credential from Occidental College. Learning valuable lessons from his father, Rudy, an educator for over 50 years, Jaime worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District in one way, shape, or form from 1992 through During his tenure he also pursued his passion for writing with a year long stint writing technical automotive articles for a popular skateboarding/pop culture magazine. He brings his many years of valuable experience to his third year here at OMGC as 4th grade teacher and current Director of Writing Curriculum. You can also catch him playing drums at our monthly student masses! Mr. Enriquez continues to enjoy every moment he provides educational enlightenment to each and every Dolphin on campus. MRS. Los padres están registrados en la parroquia para por lo menos 3 meses, o (después de una entrevista con un sacerdote de esta parroquia) el permiso de su parroquia local 3. Los padrinos deben estar practicando católicos, verificado o en nuestra forma o por una carta firmada de su parroquia. Si un padre no es católico romano, entonces un padrino no católico es permitido. 4. La asistencia en una Clase Bautismal de Preparación para ambos padres y padrinos. 5. La remuneración para el Sacramento es : Para las familias registradas que contribuyen $ o más cada año - $ ($ Bautizo privado) Para las familias que no están registradas o párrocos que contribuyen menos de $ cada año - $ ( $ Bautizos privados) Si uno o ambos padres no practican la fe, o no están casados por el Sacramento de Matrimonio, ahora es el tiempo de hablar con el sacerdote así que puede ayudar y guiar.
