2 Page 2 A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family, I hope everyone has a blessed and restful holiday weekend. I hope everyone has had wonderful graduations at college and at the high schools this coming week. This is the time of year that we visit our cemeteries and remember those we have buried. It is always interesting to go through a town or parish cemetery to see the graves, which tell the history of the families before us. You see those who have died in the war, those who died too young, especially young children. They represent many moments that have tested our faith. We are grateful to Loren and all who work so hard to keep our cemetery looking orderly and reverent. We are blessed to have a place to bury our loved ones. They become the neighbors of the priests. I would encourage those of you who may need graves or niches, or we have plenty of room in the mausoleum, to check into our cemetery. We work hard to keep our costs low and our charges are at or below other area cemeteries. It is good to look ahead to make these things easier on your family and also guarantee your wishes. Have a Blessed Weekend Father Paul Let us pray that the Holy Spirit may bring peace and unity to all mankind. Almighty and ever-living God, you fulfilled the Easter promise by sending us your Holy Spirit. May that Spirit unite the races and nations on earth to proclaim your glory. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. 4 Page 4 Pilgrimage to Marytown Offered Holy Apostles Marriage Ministry is sponsoring a pilgrimage to Marytown, the national shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe, 1600 W. Park Ave., (Rt. 176), in Libertyville, on Saturday, May 30. The day s schedule will be: 10 AM: Group meets in St. Bonaventure (Marytown) for a guided tour, Kolbe video, Kolbe talk and tour of the Holocaust exhibit 11 AM: Stations of the Cross 12 PM: Mass 1 PM: Picnic by Sacred Heart shrine 3 PM: Depart. 5 Page 5 Pentecost Sunday May 24, 2015 We Share Our Blessings This week, our Parish Tithe will be given to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. SVdPS Helps with Unexpected Bills Life's unexpected twists can send the most stable of households into financial distress. When thousands of dollars of medical expenses were rejected by their insurance company, a local middleaged couple found themselves in financial straits. Even though both were employed, medical payments caused them to fall behind with their Nicor bill. The St. Vincent de Paul Society was able to pay the past due amount on this bill and Vincentians delivered food to help stretch their budget. This assistance along with shared prayers were deeply appreciated. Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. Proverbs 22:9 Cursillo McHenry Ultreya Invitation All Cursillistas and others are invited to an Ultreya on Wednesday, June 10, at in Fr. Sherry Parish Center. The speakers will be Fr. Paul White and Dorri Hausser. Together they will encourage us in our walk with the Lord. Come and enjoy a evening filled with prayer, witnessing and spiritual inspiration. Las clases de catecismo para el siguiente ciclo escolar comienzan en septiembre, serán los martes de 5 a 6:15pm. Y se dará inicio a un nuevo programa en domingos. Este será el segundo y cuarto domingo de cada mes de 9:30 am. a 11:30am. En este nuevo programa de catecismo en domingo los papas se tienen que quedar con los niños a la clase. Para mas información llamar a la oficina. Campamento de Biblia Todos los niños de todas las edades están invitados al campamento de Biblia para este verano del 22 al 26 de junio. Sera una semana divertida. Harán diferentes manualidades, aprenderán historias de la Biblia, cantos y juegos. Los niños de 6 grado en adelante asisten como voluntarios. Las formas de registro las encuentra en el centro de información, o puede pasar a registrar a su niño a la oficina de la iglesia. El costo son $20 dólares por niño. Limpieza de la Iglesia La próxima fecha es el miércoles 27 de mayo a las 6:00 pm. Tienda de artículos religiosos Tiene descuentos del 70% en libros y artículos para decorar. Si quiere ser adorador llame la oficina o llene una de las formas que se encuentran en la capilla de Adoración y puede traerla a la oficina. Horario disponibles: Lunes: 9 am 10 am Miércoles: 12 pm 1 pm Sábado: 12 am 1 am y 2 3 pm Veladoras en la Capilla de Adoración Si desea ofrecer una de las veladoras que se encienden en la Capilla de Adoración al Santísimo por sus intenciones o sus necesidades, pase a la oficina de la Iglesia. La veladora dura 14 días encendida. El costo por veladora, $15 dólares. Este mes son encendidas del 24 de mayo al 6 de junio a petición de familia Mayoros. Misas para alguna intención Si desea mandar hacer una misa, pasar a la oficina por lo menos dos semanas antes de la fecha que desea, las misas en español son domingo a las 12pm y jueves a las 7pm. El donativo es de $10 dólares. El horario de la oficina es de 8:30 am. a 5 pm. De lunes a viernes. Presentaciones Personas interesada en presentar a su hijo (a), las fechas a partir de octubre serán el 2do, y 4to. Domingo de cada mes durante la misa de 12 pm. La próxima fecha es el 24 de mayo. Padrinos para Bautismo Las personas que van a participar como padrinos de Bautismo que sean pareja es requisito estar casados por la Iglesia, tienen que presentar en la oficina el Acta del Sacramento del Matrimonio por la Iglesia.

7 Page 7 Pentecost Sunday May 24, 2015 Heavenly Father, On this Memorial Day, we pray for those who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. May the examples of their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill their homes and their lives with Your strength and peace. In union with people of goodwill of every nation, embolden us to answer the call to work for peace and justice, and thus, seek an end to violence and conflict around the globe. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. 440 people, mostly teens, participated and spent the night in tents and cardboard boxes simulating homelessness to raise money for PADS of McHenry County at the recent Sleep Out for Shelter held on Holy Apostles property on May 9/10. $180,000 was raised through this rally, which included members of Holy Apostles and people from throughout McHenry County. Thanks to all donors and/or participants! Cheer on Our Parish Softball Teams! Holy Apostles Softball teams play other churches in the McHenry area on Monday nights through July 13. The students are aged 13 to 18 and are here for 3 to 4 weeks this summer. The students will enjoy the majority of their time with the host family, practicing English (they all know some English) while immersing themselves in American culture, exploring your hometown with you and participating in two Education First activities each week. The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, IL Vocations Corner The Importance of Pentecost When it comes to discernment, there is no greater day thantoday, when we celebrate the feast of Pentecost. You see, today was the day that Christ s promise to send the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles came true. Up to this point the Apostles had seen Jesus ascend into the heavens, and then they proceeded to wait for the coming which Christ had told them about. The most beautiful thing about this is, of course, the dynamic power of the Spirit that all who were present received, but along with this comes the affirmation of the knowledge that Christ lives up to His promises, that He is faithful, and that he reveals what we need to receive at the proper time. This is so important for anyone who is in the midst of trying to discern God s will for their life. From the descent of the Holy Spirit we can conclude that God will do the very same thing for us: That He will provide us with the knowledge of what we are to do as well as giving us the power to carry it out. We simply have to continue to trust and to cast aside any doubts that might plague us as we wait for God to reveal His plan. So today let s rejoice in the gift that we have been given and let us strive to open our hearts to allow the Holy Spirit to use us however He sees fit. Fr. Keith Romke, Diocesan Vocations Director McHenry County Taizé Prayer Service A Taizé Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 7 PM at First Congregational Chuch, 461 Pierson St., in Crystal Lake. Taizé worship is an ecumenical worship and all Catholics and Protestants are invited.
