PFO EIGHT GRADE HIGH SCHOOL CHOICES As our eighth grade students near the halfway point in their final year at Mesa, it is important to start thinking about High School. In the upcoming months we will have presentations from different High Schools. It is important to note that if your child will attend a High School other than the school of your attendance area, you will still need to register with your home district and then apply for an inter/intradistrict transfer. December 18th, we will have a presentation from ACE Charter School. January 22nd, we will host a pre-registration meeting with counselors from Rio Mesa High School and Camarillo High School. More details will follow in upcoming Mesa Matters. Announcements ANNUAL MESA FOOD AND JACKET DRIVE This week we will continue our canned food and jacket drive. The class that has the most donations will win an extra recess with me. The most important thing, however, is to help families have a brighter holiday. Cans can be delivered to classrooms. Clothing can be delivered to the Kindergarten courtyard. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE The school-wide competition is scheduled for Tuesday December 16th from 1-2pm. More materials and information available and daily quiz: SPELLING BEE Classes in grades 4-8 are preparing for their in class spelling bees. Winners from each class will participate in a schoolwide Spelling Bee on Friday January 23, Words are available for students on the website, under Students: WELLNESS COMMITTEE UPDATE The Mesa Union Wellness committee is looking for help in the following areas: 5 gardeners to plan and plant spring vegetables with kids 3-5 people to bring our fruit trees back into good health This year our Wellness committee will have a cookbook that focuses entirely on healthy snacks. Please send your healthy snack recipes to the Wellness Committee at wellness@mesaschool.org Mesa Union School: 3901 N.
