8 INSTAATION Optional Equipment Connections IMPOTANT INFOMATION EGADING USE OF VIDEO GAMES, COMPUTES, DSS O OTHE FIXED IMAGE DISPAYS. The extended use of fixed image pogam mateial can cause a pemanent shadow image on the pictue tube. This backgound image is viewable on nomal pogams in the fom of a stationay fixed image. This type of ievesible pictue tube deteioation can be limited by obseving the following steps: A. educe the bightness/contast setting to a minimum viewing level. B. Do not display the fixed image fo extended peiods of time. C. Tun the powe off when not in actual use. Note: VC Connection The making o etained image on the pictue tube esulting fom fixed image use is not an opeating defect and as such is not coveed by Waanty. This poduct is not designed to display fixed image pattens fo extended peiods of time. (Fo models CT-27SX11/U) VCs, video disc playes, video game equipment, and DSS equipment can also be connected to the video inputs. See the optional equipment manual fo moe infomation. Note: VIDEO 1input is a dual-pupose input. It is pimaily intended fo connection with 480i devices such as a DVD playe using the Y P B P component video jacks and Audio & jacks. Howeve, it can also be connected to conventional composite video souces such as a VC, using only the Y/Video jack and Audio & jacks. The on-sceen label will display Component o Video 1 depending on which souce is connected. Tune the television to Channel 3 o 4, depending on you VC. 3. Using the VC, tune to the television pogam you want to ecod. 4. Begin ecoding. Option B (ecoding one pogam while viewing anothe pogam) 1. Select ANT1 in the SET UP menu unde Pog Chan (Pogam Channels). 2. Pess the TV/VIDEO button on the emote contol to select the video input (VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, etc.) connected to you VC. 3. Using the VC, tune to the television pogam you want to ecod. 4. Begin ecoding. 5. Pess the TV/VIDEO button on the emote contol to switch back to TV mode. 6. 14 Pogam Out Connection (POG. OUT) (Fo models CT-27SX31/U, CT-32SX31/U, and CT-36SX31/U) INSTAATION To use the TV audio and video with optional video equipment, use POG. OUT and TO AUDIO AMP teminals on the back of the TV. Note: When a component input video signal is connected to Video 1 (Y, P B, P ) teminals, and the TV main pictue is Component, the Pogam output video will be luminance signal (no colo). Pocedue 1. Connect optional video equipment to POG. OUT video and TO AUDIO AMP / Audio teminals. 2. POG OUT teminal display is the same as the on sceen display. See optional equipment manual fo futhe instuctions fo ecoding o monitoing. Note: TO AUDIO AMP teminals cannot be connected diectly to extenal speakes. Audio Adjustments 1. Select TV SPEAKES ON fom AUDIO menu. 2. Set amplifie volume to minimum. 3. Adjust TV volume to desied level. 4. Adjust amplifie volume to match the TV. 5. Select TV SPEAKES OFF&VAO fom AUDIO menu. 6. Volume, mute, bass, teble and balance ae now contolled fom the TV. Note: In OFF&FAO the volume is contolled by the extenal amplifie. 16 Pictue In Pictue (PIP) Opeation (Fo models CT-27SX31/U, CT-32SX31/U, and CT-36SX31/U) INSTAATION This television includes a two tune Pictue In Pictue (PIP) featue. This allows watching two (2) live boadcasts at the same time with o without an extenal video souce (VC). Basic PIP Opeation Pocedue Pess the PIP button on the emote contol to display the PIP fame onsceen. Note: The audio is fo the Main Pictue only. 1. Choose channels fo the PIP fame by pessing the emote contol PIP CHANNE up/down buttons. 2. Choose channels fo the Main Pictue by pessing the emote contol CH up/down buttons o by using the numeic keypad. SWAP Button The SWAP button switches the PIP and Main Pictue souce. Pess the ECA button fo onsceen PIP and Main Pictue souce status. PIP Opeation with a Cable Box (Fo connections - efe to page 11) Pocedue To view pemium (scambled) cable channels though you cable box in the Main Pictue: Note: Use this pocedue if you want to watch pemium cable channels in the Main Pictue while viewing a television pogam o video in the PIP fame. 1. Select ANT2 in the SET UP menu unde Pog Chan (Pogam Channels). 2. Tune television to Channel Pess the PIP button on the emote contol to display the PIP fame onsceen. Note: The audio is fo the Main Pictue only. 4. Veify the cable box is ON. 5. Choose channels fo the Main Pictue by tuning the cable box. 6. Choose channels fo the PIP fame by pessing the TV button on the emote contol and using the PIP CHANNE up/down buttons. Note: Swap is not available when using the cable box to tune channels. If you cable box has a video output, it can be connected to the television to allow you to use all PIP functions. See the equipment manual fo moe infomation. (Tune the PIP to the video input connected to the cable box). 15

18 MAIN MENU FEATUE CHAT Main Menu Featue Chat MENU DESCIPTION SET UP ANGUAGES Select English, Spanish, o Fench menu. MODE - Select Cable o TV. See Installation section in manual. POG. CHAN (Pogam Channels) AUTO POGAM - Automatically pogam channels having a signal into memoy. MANUA POGAM - Manually add o delete channels fom memoy. CC CC ON MUTE - Activate C1-C2 fo Closed Captioning display when the emote MUTE button is pessed. (Closed Captioning) CC MODE - Select C1 o C2 fo Closed Captioning, pogam guides and othe infomation. AUTO POWE ON - Select SET to powe up the TV at the same time as the Cable Box o othe components o select OFF. CHAN BANNE - Select ON to display onsceen banne when changing channels. OTHE ADJ. Note: Pess ECA to display onsceen Channel Banne at any time. GEOMAGNETIC CO - Use to adjust the discoloation (some models) o tilt (some models) due to eath s magnetic field in the aea. AUDIO AUDIO ADJ. (Adjustments) MODE - Select STEEO, SAP (Second Audio Pogam) o MONO. (Use MONO when steeo signal is weak.) BASS - Incease o decease the bass esponse. TEBE - Incease o decease the teble esponse. BAANCE - Emphasize the left/ight speake volume. NOMA - eset BASS, TEBE and BAANCE to factoy default. 17
