1 Listening Tips 1. Preview the directions, questions, and possible answers completely BEFORE starting to listen. 2. Listen for key words that you read while previewing. 3. Try not to get frustrated- you can listen to the exercise a second or even a third time if necessary. 4. You don t have to be familiar with EVERY word that is said in order to understand the exercise piece it together from the clues you have! 5. Use cognates and context clues to infer meaning (make an educated guess). 6. Practice by listening to Spanish-speaking radio, music in Spanish, or Spanish-speaking TV shows! 7. Like all skills that you want to improve

4 Reading Tips 1. Read the directions and the passage completely BEFORE starting to answer questions. 2. As you read through the passage, use a marker to highlight what you consider to be main ideas and important information you might see in the questions. 3. You don t have to be familiar with EVERY word in the passage in order to comprehend it. 4. Use cognates and context clues to infer meaning (make an educated guess). 5. Practice by reading anything you can get your hands on in Spanish. There are lots of fun things online for example Spanish-speaking newspapers from around the globe! 6. Cuando la dieta necesita algo diferente No comer carne los lunes o convertirse en vegetariano sólo cuando el reloj marca las 18:00 horas. Te damos los cuatro pilares de los flexiterianos. Sin embargo, la causa principal es solidaria: evitar durante un día las emisiones de CO2 que genera la ganadería. Conoce más de (lunes sin carne) 2.- La hora importa: dieta VB6 Vegetariana antes de 6: no comer ningún tipo de producto de origen animal hasta las seis de la tarde, ya que según su creador- es muy difícil ser un vegetariano estricto y tener vida social. 3.- No hay alimentos prohibidos Ni se cuentan calorías. Eso sí, hay que comer con moderación. Según aseguran, tener alimentos prohibidos genera ansiedad y puede llevarte a comer de forma desmesurada. Los temidos atracones. El objetivo es consumir cada vez más vegetales, mejor si lo haces de forma que te apetezca. 4.- Socialmente aceptados No hablan en los restaurantes a los comensales de que están comiendo cadáveres, no esgrimen los principios vegetarianos por bandera, pero según aseguran- su ejemplo consigue que más personas se animen a cambiar sus menús. Aseguran que es la manera más verde de comer carne. Además, la mayoría termina convirtiéndose en pescetarianos: van un paso más allá y eliminan la carne roja y el pollo de su dieta, pero pueden tomar huevos, leche, queso y, sobre todo, pescado y marisco.
