Pedro and Nelda Palacios, longtime leaders in the healing ministry, went to be with the Lord on January 1 st. Trini Velasquez, another longtime supporter and volunteer at the CCCR and St. Henry s Parish is also with the Lord. May they rest in Peace. The annual charismatic conference is fast approaching (March 5 & 6) and the conference committee needs all the help they can get. The flyers have been sent out but the registrations are slow coming in. Leaders and prayer groups, we urge you to pray for the conference, speakers and volunteer staff and to register your people as soon as you can. The theme is Strengthening Families and Building Community, so bring your families. The Youth Conference is the following week, March 13 th and we ask for your prayers for a fruitful and blessed conference. Make this announcement at your prayer meetings and encourage families to participate. The Archdiocesan Service Committee had the annual appointments and elections meeting, with three members completing their term and welcoming four new members. We thank Jerry Syring, chairman the last two years, and Adrian and Lolly Bancker who also completed their three year terms. Incoming new members are: Carmen Frankel (St. Mark Parish), Rachel Coronado (Prince of Peace) and Mary Esther and Pedro Lopez, (St. Philip of Jesus). Elected chairman is Angel Madrid and co-chair is Dcn. Sonny Arismendez. Rachel Coronado was elected as secretary. We thank God for blessing us with dedicated members and officers to lead this Archdiocesan Service Committee for Charismatic Renewal and pray for a fresh anointing of His Spirit upon them. The Spanish Service Committee will announce their new members and elections next month. We are very thankful for all the volunteers at the Center, from administration, bookstore, youth ministry, Charisletter preparation and mailing, janitorial, building up-keep, etc. Their dedication and donation of their time, talent and treasure is so much appreciated. They do this for their love of Jesus, the Church, and zeal for evangelization in the power of the Holy Spirit, known as the charismatic renewal movement. We also have been blessed by Norma Alaniz, our administrator. She took over Administration in January 2009, after a one month on-the-job training with Zulema. She is a professional administrator and has performed her duties (and beyond) in an outstanding manner. Thank you Norma!

3 Volume 11 Issue 2 MAY THEY REST IN PEACE Page 3 January has been a difficult time for the Renewal Center and the Archdiocesan Charismatic Renewal: Pedro and Nelda Palacios, longtime leaders of the Charismatic Center Healing Ministries, went home to the Lord on January 1, 2010, victims of a tragic automobile accident. We thank all who attended the Rosary, the Mass and especially those who contributed food and or donations. We thank the prayer group from Our Lady of Guadalupe in Helotes and other volunteers who hosted the luncheon. The Palacios were also very active in their Parish and Msgr. Carlos Davalos and his staff did a wonderful job, especially with the Rosary and Mass. God bless you Msgr. Carlos and staff. Trinidad (Trini) Velasquez was a volunteer at the CCCR for many years until she could not drive herself to the Center. She helped at the office, book store and the prayer group. The Rosary was on January 11 th and the Mass on January 12 th at St. Henry s, her parish and her prayer group. Fr. Emil celebrated the Mass and Bishop Tom co-celebrated. We wish our most sincere condolences to the family. HEALING TEAMS WORKSHOP Saturday, February 13 th, 9: CCCR Chapel We need everyone in the healing ministry (Spanish and English) to attend this meeting, our last one before the conference on March 5 & 6 at St. Mary Magdalen (same as 2009). Since Pedro and Nelda Palacios are no longer with us, we must regroup and at least for this conference, appoint a core group to oversee this ministry. If you are going to serve, you must attend or at least let us know who you are and that you will attend the conference. Josie Gonzalez will continue to lead the Spanish team for this conference. 5 Volume 11 Issue 2 Charisletter Page 5 FROM THE SERVICE COMMITTEE Glory and praise to God for loving us and using us as instruments in this great movement of the Holy Spirit. We have been blessed with good, honorable and dedicated servants to help us lead the charismatic renewal in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Service Committee serves as the eyes, ears and hands for the Archdiocesan Liaison, Most Rev. Thomas J. Flanagan, DD and Associate Liaison, Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD, who have been appointed to support and oversee this great movement of the Spirit in the Church. We thank God for their leadership and guidance. Service Committee members are appointed for a period of three years and may be reappointed for no more than one additional term if the member, Committee and the Liaisons agree. This gives more people an opportunity to serve and brings in different and varied gifts. Outgoing members includes our two year chairman, Jerry Syring, who used his charisms and leadership gifts for the good of the renewal and Adrian and Lolly Bancker, whose experience, charisms and commitment to service will be hard to match. We are sure these three people will continue to serve in the varied ministries of the Renewal. Arechiga, we welcome all parishioners to a special evening! We have been blessed! Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD, from the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal (CCCR), a sought after retreat and conference speaker, has accepted our invitation to be a guest speaker at our charismatic prayer group meeting. All are welcome to hear The Word of the Lord. Paul says Jesus sent Him on this mission to spread the Good news everywhere, Like sweet perfume (2 Corinthians 2:14) COME AND JOIN US! For Information: Edward Flores, As you know, every year we take our entire Bookstore to the site of our Annual Catholic Charismatic Conference. This year we will be setting up our Bookstore in the hall at St. Mary Magdalen Church. This requires packing all the books, religious articles, taking down shelves, loading into trucks, hauling everything to the conference site, unpacking, setting up tables, shelves, labeling, pricing items, etc. And after the conference, we have to pack everything again and bring it back to CCCR. This involves a great deal of work and we depend on our dedicated and loyal volunteers to help us. In order to accomplish these tasks, our Bookstore will be closed from February 22 March 12th. We need a lot of help, so please call us at , if you are able to donate your time and would like to help. Thank you!

6 Volume 11 Issue 2 Charisletter Page 6 REPORTE DEL COMITE HISPANO Nuestro hermano, Jesús Ramos, presidente del comité, se encuentra nuevamente en Puerto Rico para estar con su padre, quien sigue enfermo. Jesús también a estado enfermo y no sabe cuando regresara a San Antonio. Les pedimos oraciones por ellos y su familia. El Comité se reunió el día 21 de Enero para hacer planes tocantes a la Conferencia que se nos llega el 5 y 6 de Marzo en la Parroquia de Santa María Magdalena (igual que el ano pasado). Se confirmaron quienes van a dar las pláticas. Para el Día de Renovación del 30 de Enero, vendrá Rafael Tiburcio, de Houston, quien dará la plática con el tema "Unidad". El 13 de Febrero, de 9 a 12 habrá un taller en el Centro Católico para la Renovación Carismática para los equipos de sanación. Toda persona que ha participado con este ministerio debe atender este último taller antes de la conferencia. El Señor Raúl Chamagua estará con nosotros para La Noche de Renovación el día 27 de Febrero (en el Centro de la Renovación Carismática) para animar al pueblo de Dios a que participen en la Conferencia Carismática los días 5 & 6 de Marzo. Raúl estuvo con nosotros en la conferencia del ano pasado. Anuncien a todos los grupos de oración que vengan a esta gran fiesta que nos preparara para la conferencia. La próxima reunión del comité será el 18 de Febrero en el CCCR. (Col 1:13-14) NUEVA VIDA: "Yo he venido para que tengan vida, y para que la tengan en abundancia" (Jn 10:10) RECIBIENDO EL DON DE DIOS: Aquel día, Jesús, puesto de pie, dijo con voz fuerte: 'Si alguien tiene sed, venga a mi y beba. This goes out as bulk mail and must be taken to the Main Post Office on Perrin Beitel, Monday Friday between 10am 5pm. This needs to be done once a month when we send out our newsletter, usually the last week of every month.
