3 second sunday in ordinary time january 18, 2015 JMJ JMJ 13 January de enero 2015 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always Querida Familia Parroquial, Dios esté siempre con nosotros! As I was praying this morning I realized that days have already passed since the New Year and I asked myself: Have I started the year right and with purpose? I guess this is the reason for New Year s Resolutions, when we look into the lessons of the past to be given guidance for the future. It is obvious that my priesthood constantly challenges me to think, pray and contemplate on how to be a joyful and loving disciple after of our Lord Jesus. Now that I am called to serve as Pastoral Administrator, I live my waking moments trying to figure out how best to nurture, lead and accompany this parish family, entrusted to my care, towards the Kingdom of God. This s First Reading brings us into the conversation between Eli and Samuel which ends with Samuel being instructed to respond to the Lord when it became obvious to Eli that it was God calling Samuel. I see all of us in this position of constantly being called to share the Faith, Hope and Love of the Gospel, albeit Joyfully. As our response, I thought of the Stewardship Prayer which we shall be praying from now on at the end of the Prayers of the Faithful. This is our way of saying Here I am Lord, and Speak Lord, for your servant is listening. May these responses come from our hearts and bring about in us a change of attitude and lifestyle, so we incarnate our prayers and discipleship by being good, responsible and generous stewards of the gifts entrusted to us. May we always be sensitive to our Loving Jesus inviting us to Come and See, and we shall behold, we shall see and we shall live fully in faith, hope, joy, and love. Mientras oraba esta mañana, me di cuenta que ya han pasado algunos días desde que comenzó el año nuevo y me pregunté: He comenzado este año correctamente y con propósito? Yo veo a todos nosotros en esta posición, de ser constantemente llamados a compartir la fe, esperanza y amor del Evangelio inclusive con alegría. Como una respuesta de nuestra parte, pensé en la Oración del Servidor y Discípulo, la cual vamos a estar orando a partir de ahora al final de la Oración de los Fieles. Esta es nuestra forma de decir "Aquí estoy, Señor", y "Habla Señor, que tu siervo escucha." Que estas respuestas provengan de nuestro corazón y provoquen en nosotros un cambio de actitud y estilo de vida para que encarnemos nuestra oración y discipulado en ser buenos, responsables y generosos administradores de los dones que se nos confían. Que siempre seamos sensibles a nuestro amoroso Jesús, quién nos invita diciendo "Ven y verás", y así contemplaremos y veremos y viviremos plenamente en la fe, la esperanza, la alegría y el amor. This is the reason I am grateful to the Lord in the guidance I have been given to form our new Parish Finance Council who will take over the tremendous work and service our former Parish Finance Council has accomplished through the years they have undertaken the task. It is with gratitude that I recognize our former Parish Finance Council Members whose work has helped and supported our parish, from the time of their appointment up to They are: Mr. Martin Milas, Mr. John Larner, and Mr. Tim Neuville. It is also with the same spirit of gratitude that I introduce and welcome our new Parish Finance Council Members who are: Mrs. Mary Ojeda, Mr. Jaime Valdivieso, Mr. Lino Protomartir, Mr. Michael Ulibarri, and Mr. Michael Hurt. Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship All boys and girls aged 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2015 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held January 25, between 8:30am and 12pm at Santiago de Compostela s lower parking lot. All boys and girls aged 9 to 14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. All contestants are recognized for their participation in the event and winners will receive a $10 itunes card. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. 6 Confirmation and Youth Ministry There are two classes for CI and two for CII in February! Fifth Class for Confirmation I Tuesday, February 3 from 7pm to 8:30pm in the parish hall classrooms. Sixth Class for Confirmation I Tuesday, February 17 from 7pm to 8:30pm in the parish hall classrooms. Mark your calendars! There are a few spaces available if you haven t yet signed up or would like to change from the March retreat to this one. Youth Day 2015 for CI and CII Students Tickets for this Youth Rally are now available for $40 in the YM office. Event is on Thursday, March 12 from 6am to 4pm and counts for four Faith Sharing events. You will miss school to attend, but will get a written excused absence for a religious event to give to your school. Drop off a check now. Seventh Faith Sharing Saturday, January 24 is a Parent speaker from the Newport Beach Police Department Detective Division, Vlad Anderson, speaking on the current state of Cyber Safety. We would like every parent to attend this special event. Students will be in with a separate speaker. Operation Shoebox A special thank you to the parishioners who put shoeboxes together for the homeless men who congregate at the Civic Center in Santa Ana.
