3 Page 3 Immaculate Heart of Mary January 25, 2015 Tercer Domingo Del Tiempo Ordinario Pensando en el Evangelio de este domingo: Para iniciar su misión profética y tener discípulos que lo ayuden, Jesús llama a unos pescadores y los invita a cambiar su profesión para ser pescadores de hombres. No les explica que significa este cambio, que los invita a seguirlo, a tener una relación con él. La fe de los discípulos en Jesús y en lo que proclama les permite dejar su estilo de vida y decidirse a seguirlo. Es muy difícil que los cuatro primeros discípulos hayan seguido a Jesús sin conocerlo. Lo que pasa es que Marcos no guía su evangelio por la cronología, sino que realiza la importancia de la unión de los discípulos con Jesús. Jesús llama a sus primeros discípulos con autoridad, directamente. Basta con mencionar su causa, el reino de Dios, para que ellos lo sigan de inmediato. Por qué es tan poderoso su llamado? El reino de Dios trae unidad, amor, justicia y paz algo que toda persona desea, sobre todo quien sufre marginación, opresión y violencia. Los requisitos son sencillos y exigentes: Jesús solo pide que adquiramos una visión distinta de la vida, caminemos con él y asumamos su misión.esto significa que necesitamos una conversión en nuestras vidas para seguir a Jesús. Convertirse es volver la vida a Dios. Dios es a quien vamos y de quien venimos. Jesús señala que la conversión es la condición necesaria y continua para quienes buscan el reino de Dios y su justicia. El profeta Jonás cumplió con convertir al pueblo de Ninevah y nosotros estamos llamados a buscar la conversión de todos a Jesús. Primero tenemos que decidir a seguir a Jesús y después llamar a otros al encuentro con Jesús. Estas listo a escuchar al voz del Señor y cumplir con ser discípulo? Con quien vienes?

5 Page 5 Immaculate Heart of Mary January 25, 2015 SCHOOL OF OUR LADY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service Today we kick off Catholic Schools Week. This is a nation wide celebration of Catholic education. School of Our Lady will be joining in this celebration with special activities all week long. Our week long activities will include career day special speakers, parent appreciation day and a family fun picnic. Our students will once again be serving the community by taking part in a service day by visiting the Corbin Senior Center. Our primary grade students will be singing for the Senior Citizens and the middle grade students will be tending to the garden they have by picking up trash. Our Junior High Students will be preparing lunch for the Seniors to enjoy. School of Our Lady continues to thrive and prosper. Our enrollment this year is at 216. Our TK and Kindergarten classes were almost full this year. Our Ipad program continues to enhance our curriculum for grades 5th 8th grade. Our students have become very proficient in Technology. School Our Lady, along with St. Anne s and St. Joseph s was the recipient of a generous grant to start a band program. Our 4th and 5th graders now have band twice a week and each student received an instrument at no cost to the families. Our first big concert will take place on Friday, Feb. 27th at Mater Dei. However, you can get a preview on Sunday, Feb. 22nd at our Open House. There are rites for children, a communal rite for celebration in the parish, forms of care for the sick at each stage and transition, and for the desperately ill. There is a much broader interpretation of who may be anointed, including not only the visibly ill, but those battling addiction, or the elderly coping with the frustrating aches and pains of aging. Children under seven are normally not anointed, since the oil is associated with reconciliation. (For the same reason, they do not receive ashes on Ash Wednesday.) However, children close to that age who have a serious illness often gain a deep level of spiritual insight and maturity, and may benefit from catechesis for the Eucharist. Once admitted to confirmation and/or Eucharist, a sick child should be anointed. It is a great strength of our present rite that a section is included with prayers tailored to the experience and understanding of a child.
