Lift the rear of the printer cover to remove. To re-intall, hook the pawl on the cabinet and cloe. Caution: The paper cutter i mounted on the printer (receipt ide). Be careful not to cut yourelf. Take-up pool Paper roll cradle Paper chute Print head releae lever Print head releae lever The print head can be lifted by the green lever on the right ide of the printer. Pulling the lever forward lift up the print head. If the paper become jammed and you need to move the head farther forward, you can pull the lever even further toward you and proceed with the removal of the jammed paper. Do not attempt to remove the paper roll with the head in the down poition. Thi may reult in damage to the printer and print head. 4

7 3 Mode Switch and Mode Key The mode witch can be operated by inerting one of the two upplied mode key - manager (M) and operator (OP) key. Thee key can be inerted or removed only in the REG or OFF poition. 9 GETTING STRTED Pleae follow the procedure hown below. 1 Find a table urface near an C outlet where the cah regiter will not ubject to water ource or direct unlight. Unpack the cah regiter and make ure all acceorie are included. For detail of acceorie, pleae refer to Specification ection. 2 Intalling the cah regiter Initializing the cah regiter In order for the cah regiter to operate properly, you mut initialize it before operating for the firt time. Follow thi procedure. 1. Make ure the power cord plug i not inerted into the C outlet. 2. Inert the manager (M) key into the mode witch and turn it to the PGM poition. OPX/Z OFF VOID REG MGR X1/Z1 X2/Z2 PGM 3. While holding down both the } key and the l key, inert the plug into the C outlet. The buzzer will ound three time and??? MRS.??? will be diplayed. 4. The cah regiter ha now been initialized. The regiter diplay will now how 0.00 with PGM. *** MRS. *** PGM 0.00 If the buzzer doe not ound when the plug i inerted, the initialization ha not been done uccefully. (Thi will occur when the voltage i high becaue you operated the cah regiter before tarting initialization.) Wait at leat ten econd after pulling out the plug and initialize the cah regiter again. The cah regiter ha a built-in memory protection circuit which i operated by rechargeable batterie. Since the rechargeable batterie have been dicharged, pleae charge the batterie for one or two day before uing the cah regiter for the firt time. To charge the batterie, et the mode witch to a poition other than OFF with the power cord plugged into the C outlet. Unle the batterie have been charged, all of the programmed data and ale data i not aved. If you pre a key by mitake, an error meage uch a HED UP or PPER EMPTY may be diplayed. Pre the l key to clear meage after intalling paper roll. 7

10 3 Preparing the cah regiter To make the cah regiter ready for operation, remove the retainer and et the print head releae lever in print poition. Retainer 1. Puh the printer cover forward and detach it. 2. Remove the white retainer at the poition hown at the right. Pleae keep thi retainer for future ue when tranferring the cah regiter. 3. Move the print head releae lever to the printing poition a illutrated at the right. Print head releae lever (printing poition) 4 Intalling paper roll Precaution: The paper cutter i mounted on the printer (receipt ide). Take caution when intalling paper roll. The regiter can print receipt and journal. For the printer, you mut intall the paper roll (receipt and journal paper roll) provided with the regiter. Intall the paper roll according to the procedure hown below with the power cord connected and the mode witch et to the PGM poition: How to cut a paper roll and et it in the paper roll cradle: To the printer To the printer Correct Incorrect Correct Incorrect 1. Cut off approximately one revolution of each paper roll. Make ure each paper end i cut a illutrated above. 2. Set a paper roll in the paper roll cradle of the receipt ide a illutrated above. 3. Inert the end of the paper roll into the paper chute until it i caught by the printer auto-feed and come out of the top of the printer. If the printer doe not catch the paper, feed the paper while preing the { key. 4. Cut off exce paper with the paper cutter. 8

11 5. Set a paper roll in the paper roll cradle of the journal ide. 6. Inert the end of the paper into the paper chute of the printer until it i caught by the printer auto-feed and come out of the top of the printer. If the printer doe not catch the paper, feed the paper while preing the } key. 7. Inert the end of the paper into the lit in the take-up pool. (Pre the } key to feed more paper if required.) 8. Wind the paper two or three turn around the pool haft. 9. Set the pool on the bearing, and pre the } key to take up exce lack in the paper. 10.Replace the printer cover. 5 Programming date, time and tax The cah regiter provide text language of Englih, French and Spanih. It i preet to Englih. If you want to change the language, you mut change it before programming. Refer to Language election in Variou Function Selection Programming 2 ection for changing the language. Before you can proceed with regitration of ale, you mut program: date time tax Pleae refer to the BSIC FUNCTION PROGRMMING ection for detail (page 27). 6 Programming other neceary item While the cah regiter i pre-programmed to be ued with minimal etup, it doe provide you with optional function. Before you tart programming, pleae read through the ale operation ection to undertand optional function. The main optional function are lited below: PLU (price lookup)/ubdepartment Conecutive number Machine number Power ave mode (factory etting: goe into power ave mode after 30 minute) Text programming for clerk name, department item, PLU/ubdepartment item, logo meage printed on the top or bottom of receipt, function text and foreign currency ymbol Bottle return department Split pricing entry Thi i not factory preet. You mut enable thi function. Foreign currency converion rate You mut et a converion rate to ue V key. Preet unit price for department and PLU Preet amount for - Preet rate for %& You do not have to program thee preet price/amount/rate ince they can be entered at regitration. 9

Sentinel - High amount lockout (HLO) for cah in drawer (CID) Department group You can claify department into a maximum of 9 group (0 to 9 group: 0: non-group i aigned). Sale in each group can later be printed on an individual group total report and full group total report. Commiion If you program commiion rate (up to two) and claify department and PLU/ubdepartment into commiion group (0 to 2 group: 0: non-commiion), commiion ale and amount in each commiion group can later be printed on an individual and full clerk report. Turn the mode witch to OP X/Z poition and check if date and time are correctly et. Replace the till, if removed for afety. Check if there i enough paper on each roll. Select receipt ON/OFF function. Make any neceary programming for the day in PGM mode. For detail, refer to BSIC SLES ENTRY, page 12. For the till and paper roll, refer to OPERTOR MINTENNCE, page 64 and for programming, refer to programming ection. Turn the mode witch to the REG poition. Clerk aignment 2. Enter your clerk code. (For example, clerk code i 1. Pre the 1 and L key in thi order.) Item entrie 3. Enter the price for the firt department item. (For example, for 15.00, enter 15:, and pre the appropriate department key). For department 21 to department 40, pre the D key firt before preing the department key. For department 41 and above, enter the department code uing numeric key, and pre the d key, then enter the price and pre the d key again. 4. Repeat tep 3 for all department item. Diplaying ubtotal 5. Pre the key to diplay the amount due. Finalizing the tranaction 6. Enter the amount received from the cutomer. (You can omit thi tep if the amount tendered i the ame a the ubtotal.) 7. Pre the key, and the change due i diplayed (when the amount received wa not entered, the total amount i diplayed) and the drawer i opened. 8. Tear off the receipt and give it to the cutomer with hi or her change. 9. Cloe the drawer. 15 Clerk aignment Prior to any item entrie, clerk mut enter their clerk code into the regiter. However, the code entry may not be neceary when the ame clerk handle conecutive tranaction. Sign-on (in REG, MGR, VOID mode) To diplay the igned-on clerk code Clerk code 1 to 20 L Sign-off (in REG, MGR, VOID mode) Receipt ON/OFF function You can diable receipt printing in the REG mode to ave paper uing the receipt ON/OFF function. To diable receipt printing, pre the R key in the OP X/Z poition. Thi key toggle the receipt printing tatu ON and OFF. To check the receipt printing tatu, turn the mode witch to the OP X/Z poition or pre the l key in the REG mode. When the function i in the OFF mode, the receipt off indicator _ illuminate. The regiter will print report regardle of the receipt tate, o the paper roll mut be intalled. To iue a receipt when receipt ON/OFF function i et to OFF: If your cutomer want a receipt after you finalized a tranaction with the receipt ON/OFF function in the OFF mode, pre the R key. Thi will produce a receipt. If more than 30 item were entered, the receipt will be iued in a ummary receipt format. Power Save Mode The regiter will enter into power ave mode when no entrie are performed baed on the pre-programmed time limit (by default, 30 minute). When the regiter goe to the power ave mode, all diplay light will turn off except the decimal point at the leftmot poition of the lower line. The regiter will return to normal operation mode when any key i preed or a mode i changed with the mode key. Pleae note when the regiter i recovered by a key entry, it key entry i invalid. fter the recovery, tart the key entry from the beginning. L L 2 Error Warning In the following example, your regiter will go into an error tate accompanied with a warning beep and a correponding error meage. Clear the error tate by preing the l key and take proper action. Pleae refer to the error meage table on page 69. Enter over a 32-digit number (entry limit overflow): Cancel the entry and re-enter the correct number. n error in key operation: Clear the error and continue operation. n entry beyond a programmed amount entry limit: Check to ee if the entered amount i correct. If it i correct, it can be rung up in the MGR mode. Contact your manager. n including-tax ubtotal exceed eight digit: Delete the ubtotal by preing the l key and pre the, C, X or Y key to finalize the tranaction. Error ecape function To quit a tranaction due to an error or an unforeeen event, ue the error ecape function a hown below: Tranaction To clear the error tate l E E The tranaction i voided (treated a a ubtotal void) and the receipt i iued by thi function. 16 3 Item Entrie Single item entrie Department entrie For a merchandie claification, the cah regiter provide a maximum of 99 department. To the department, group attribute uch a taxable tatu are applied to item when they are entered. When uing the department key (for department 1 to 40) For department 1 to 20, enter a unit price and pre a department key. If you ue a programmed unit price, pre a department key only. For department 21 to 40, enter a unit price, pre the D key and pre a department key. If you ue a programmed unit price, pre the D key and pre a department key. When uing a programmed unit price Unit price * 1 (max. 7 digit) * D 2 Department key * 1 Le than the programmed upper limit amount When zero i entered, only the ale quantity i added. * 2 For the department 21 through 40, pre the department hift key. Pleae note if you pre the ame key after uing the D key, it act a a repeat entry. For example, when you regiter an item of dept. 21 uing the D key and then an item of dept. 1 uing the preet unit price, you hould ue the department code entry key decribed below for the dept. 1 item. If you jut pre the key to regiter dept. 1 item, it will act a a repeat entry of dept. 21 item. When uing the department code entry key Enter a department (dept.) code and pre the d key, then enter a unit price and pre the d key again. If the dept. code i programmed to preet price entry tyle and a unit price i preet, the cah regiter will finih it regitration operation. PLU/ubdepartment entrie For another merchandie claification, the cah regiter provide a maximum of 1800 PLU/ubdepartment. PLU are ued to call up preet price by a code entry. Subdepartment are ued to claify merchandie into maller group under the department. Every PLU and ubdepartment ha a code from 1 to 1800, and hould belong to a department to obtain attribute of that department. The cah regiter i pre-programmed to PLU mode and zero for unit price. To ue PLU entrie, their preet unit price hould be previouly programmed. (Refer to page 34.) To ue ubdepartment entrie, change to ubdepartment mode for the PLU code. When programmed to allow fractional quantity entrie, you can enter up to four integer and three digit decimal, though the quantity i counted a one for ale report. To enter a fractional quantity, ue the decimal point key between integer and decimal, a 7P5 for entering

Before you can proceed with regitration of ale, you mut firt program the tax that i levied in accordance with the law of your tate. The cah regiter come with the ability to program four different tax rate. In mot tate, you will only need to program Tax 1. However if you live in an area that ha a eparate local tax (uch a a Parih tax) or a hopitality tax, the regiter can be programmed to calculate thee eparate taxe. When you program the tax tatu for a department, tax will automatically be added to ale of item aigned to the department according to the programmed tax tatu for the department. You can alo enter tax manually. There are two tax programming method. The tax rate method ue a traight percentage rate per dollar. The tax table method require tax break information from your tate or local tax office. Ue the method which i acceptable in your tate.
