1 Entry Grammar Lesson 52 Lesson 52 : Passive Voice and its negative form Lección 52 : Voz pasiva y la forma negativa Reading (Lectura) Reporters write news reports. (Los periodistas escriben nuevos reportajes.) News reports are written by reporters. (Nuevos reportajes son escritos por los periodistas.) She does not invite me to parties. (Ella no me invita a las fiestas.) I am not invited to parties by her. (Yo no soy invitado a las fiestas por ella.) My father fixed our computers. (Mi padre arregló nuestros ordenadores.) Our computers were fixed by my father. (Nuestros ordenadores fueron arreglados por mi padre.) 1
2 Entry Grammar Lesson The dog did not chase the cat. (El perro no persiguió al gato.) The cat was not chased by the dog. (El gato no fue perseguido por el perro.) May will record a song. (May grabará una canción.) A song will be recorded by May. (Una canción será grabada por May.) The company will not buy new computers. (La empresa no venderá nuevos ordenadores.) The new computers will not be bought by the company. (Los nuevos ordenadores no serán vendidos por la empresa.) 2
3 Grammar focus (Trabajando la gramática) La Voz activa es una voz gramatical común en muchos idiomas del mundo. En "Voz activa" el sujeto realiza la acción denotada por un verbo. En este caso, la oración se forma como (Sujeto) + (Verbo) + (Objeto). La "voz pasiva" es una voz gramatical en la que el foco está en la acción. No suele ser importante o no se sabe quién o qué está realizando la acción. Al reescribir oraciones de la voz activa a pasiva, utiliza la siguiente estructura: (Sujeto) + (forma infinitiva de ser) + Participio Pasado. Nota: El sujeto de la oración activa se convierte en el sujeto de la oración pasiva, mientras que el sujeto de la oración activa se convierte en el objeto de la oración pasiva. Las oraciones negativas de la voz pasiva se forman añadiendo "no" antes del verbo auxiliar, como las frases negativas estándar. Así pues, la forma es (Objeto) + (verbo auxiliar) + no + (partícula pasada del verbo) + por + (objeto). El tiempo futuro y el tiempo pasado se forman de la misma manera. E.g.)The document isn t printed by my secretary. (El documento no es impreso por mi secretaria.) The document wasn t printed by my secretary. (El documento no ha sido impreso por mi secretaria.) The document won t be printed by my secretary. (El documento no será impreso por mi secretaria.) 3
4 Speaking (Conversación) 1) They serve dinner at 6:00. (Ellos sirven la cena a las 6:00.) Dinner is served at 6:00. (La cena es servida a las 6:00.) 2) Once a week, John cleans the house. (Una vez a la semana John limpia la casa.) Once a week, the house is cleaned by John. (Una vez a la semana la casa es limpiada por John.) 3) Somebody hit me. (Alguien me golpeó.) I was hit by somebody. (Fui golpeado por alguien.) 4) We set the table. (Nosotros montamos la mesa.) The table was set by us. (La mesa fue montada por nosotros.) 5) The manager fired the three employees. (El jefe despidió a los tres empleados.) The three employees were fired by the manager.
