2 QUESTION WORDS Las palabras interrogativas son who, what, where, when, why, y how, y pueden ser usadas con cualquier tiempo gramatical. what (jwat) (que) = se usa para obtener información general acerca de algo. What is your name? ( cuál es tu nombre?). What is that? ( que es eso?) What are you doing? (que estas tu haciendo?). What time is it? (que hora es?). What are you thinking about those persons? (que estas pensando acerca de esas personas?) which (wich) (cual) = se usa para indicar una opción o para elegir de un grupo limitado de cosas, animales o personas. there are two buses. Which one are you going to take? (hay dos camiones) ( cual vas tu a tomar?) Which house is yours? ( cual casa es tuya?). Which one is your name? ( cuál es tu nombre?).
3 what y which son pronombres y / o adjetivos, pero what como un conector significa que, lo que : This is what I want (esto es lo que yo quiero). which como conector significa que, la cual, pero se usa solo con cosas o animales: the shirt, which is in my room, is clean. (la camisa, que / la cual esta en mi cuarto, esta limpia) The cat, which is in my house, is white. (el gato, que esta en mi casa, es blanco) which se puede sustituir por el conector that que significa que : the shirt, that is in my room, is clean.
4 how (jau) (como, de que manera, que tan): How is the movie? ( cómo esta la película?). How are you? (cómo estas tu?) How is the exam going to be? ( cómo va a ser el examen?). How old are you? ( que tan viejo o mayor eres tu? O qué edad tienes?). How tall are you? ( que tan alto eres tu?). You cannot see how pretty she is! ( tu no puedes ver que tan bonita es ella!). how tiene traducciones especiales cuando forma parte de expresiones o modismos: How aboutthat? ( que acerca deeso? O qué te pareceeso?). How aboutgoing to eat? ( que te parece ir a comer?). How come! (de que manera!, Como es que!). How come he can do that and I can t!. (como es que el puede hacer eso y yo no puedo!)
5 who (ju) (quien)= se usa para preguntar acerca de una o más personas. who siempre es una palabra en singular aunque represente varias personas. Who are you? ( Quién eres tú o usted?). Who is that? ( Quién es ese o esa?). Who is it? ( quien es?) Who are you looking for? ( A quién esta usted buscando?). who como conector significa quien... O que... Y solo se usa con personas: She is who works here (ella es quien trabaja aquí). The man who is there is tall (el hombre que esta allá es alto). Those who are intelligent are going to pass the final exam. (aquellos que sean inteligentes van a pasar el examen final)
6 where (jwer)(donde) = se usa para preguntar acerca de un lugar o del lugar donde se encuentra algo o alguien. Where are you? ( dónde estas tu o usted?) Where is your hat ( donde esta tu sombrero?). Where are you from? ( de donde eres tu?). Where is that city? ( dónde esta esa ciudad?). where como conector significa donde... : This is the house where I live (esta es la casa donde yo vivo). The only city where I like to be is Veracruz (la única ciudad donde a mí me gusta estar es Veracruz). You have to go where you want (tu tienes que ir donde tu quieras).
7 when (jwen)(cuando)= se usa para preguntar acerca del tiempo en que se realiza algo. When is your birthday? ( cuándo es tu cumpleaños?). When are you going to do your homework? ( cuándo vas tu a hacer tu tarea?). When is it going to happen? ( cuándo va a pasar?). when como conector significa cuando... : I am going to be here when all is ready (yo voy a estar aquí cuando todo este listo).
8 why (wai) ( por qué?)= se usa para preguntar. because (bicos) (porque...) = se usa para responder. what.... For? (jwat....for?) (para que?)= for what?. Why are you here? ( por que estas aquí?). R = because I want to learn to speak english (porque yo quiero aprender a hablar inglés). Why is he doing this to your brother? ( por que esta el haciendo eso a tu hermano?). Why are you here? ( por que estas tu aquí?). Whatare you here for? ( para que estas tu aquí?). What are you studying for? (para que estas tu estudiando?). R = I am here for learning all I can (yo estoy aquí para aprender todo lo que yo pueda). Nota: si queremos poner una acción después de una preposición, entonces dicha acción debe de ir con ing. why como conector significa porque...; Por lo que... : That is not why i am here (eso no es por lo que yo estoy aquí). That s the reason why he is rich (esa es la razón por la que él es rico).
