5 The classes for the Rite of Initiation for Adults (RCIA) are about to begin! You are invited to come to a FIAT Discernment Morning for Women on Saturday, September 5th at the Diocesan Pastoral Center at 400 E Monroe Street, Phoenix. The morning will begin with Mass at 9 a.m. with Fr. Paul Sullivan in the Chapel. After Mass we will gather in a room in the DPC where there will be talks about Prayer and the Consecrated Life with Sisters from different orders who will share their wisdom and counsel. After their brief talks, we will have a Q&A session. There will be a light breakfast with coffee, tea, bagels and pastries. Those from ages are Celebrate Marriage event with Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted Saturday, September 12 Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral Come celebrate marriage at this annual diocesan event consisting of a beautiful Mass and luncheon. This year s speakers at the luncheon are the dynamic Trent and Laura Horn of Catholic Answers, presenting Marriage: Joyful in the Midst of Challenges. Mass begins at 10 AM, luncheon follows in the parish hall. Those celebrating 25th, 40th, and 50th + jubilarian anniversaries receive a special blessing, group photo with Bishop Olmsted, and frame-worthy certificate when pre-registered. $45 per couple for luncheon. Mt 25:36 I was in prison and you visited me If you would like to be a part of a fulfilling ministry, if you feel called to help the less fortunate, specifically women in prison, then this ministry is for you. Presently there are openings for Catholic volunteers in our ministry at Perryville State Prison for Women. Visiting inmates in prison is a CORPORAL WORK OF MERCY. VINCENT DE PAUL On September 9, the Church celebrates the feast of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic heard the call of Jesus to love and serve those who are suffering, and in the poor he found the face of Christ. He followed the example of St.Vincent de Paul. Today is the 5th Sunday of the month and the collection will be for the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Through your gifts we are able to carry on the mission of Blessed Frederic Ozanam by providing poor families with food boxes, and also with electrical assistance in order to keep their air conditioners on during these very hot months. Look for vincentians with the blue buckets at the exits of all the doors of the Church. We will definitely be smiling as you place your alms in our containers. Olmsted Sábado, 12 de Septiembre Venga y celebre el matrimonio en este evento diocesano anual, el cual consistente de una hermosa Misa y almuerzo. Los oradores invitados de este año para el almuerzo son los dinámicos Trent y Laura Horn de Catholic Answers, presentando El Matrimonio: Alegre a Través de los Retos. La Misa empieza a las 10 AM, seguida por un almuerzo en el salón parroquial.
