3 SINOPSIS Desde la muerte de su esposo en la casa de esta anciana reina el silencio y la soledad. Ella aprendió a hacer de la rutina su mejor compañía y de la fé su refugio. Sólo en sus sueños la anciana escapa de esas cuatro paredes hacia una tierra mágica y sin tiempo donde el mar habla sin palabras. Sus días transcurren así; entre lo real y lo onírico hasta el día en que un perro vagabundo toca su puerta. SYNOPSIS After the death of her husband, silence and loneliness reign in this old lady s house. She made routine her best friend and faith her shelter. Only in her dreams she runs away from those four walls to a timeless magic land where the sea speaks without using words. Her days go by like this; between the real life and dreams until a street dog comes to her door.

4 NOTAS DE DIRECCIÓN Qué forma tiene la soledad? Se puede visualizar el silencio? Es la vejez el destierro a un lugar apacible o un estado de terror permanente? Casi nunca las respuestas a estas preguntas coinciden con lo que la vida es capaz de mostrarnos. Es en lo cotidiano, en la conducta imprevisible de cada persona, donde esas respuestas, o ciertas certezas, pueden ser halladas. Cuando leemos un poema se produce una conexión entre el lector, quién escucha su propia voz como la voz del poema, y el mundo que se abre detrás de las palabras, o más allá de las palabras. Entonces intentamos compartir esa experiencia con otra persona y le contamos el poema. Comenzamos a recitarlo o simplemente a leerlo y todo se desvanece: El mundo más allá de las palabras desparece, la voz del poema y la voz del lector dejan de ser una, la experiencia vivida momentos atrás se vuelve intransmisible y su expresión verbal resulta inútil. Esta característica de la poética es también característica propia del cine: La combinación, la contraposición y el choque entre imágenes y sonidos crean una realidad más allá de los hechos registrados o puestos en escena. Como el lector del poema el espectador de cine es transportado a un mundo más allá de los vehículos de transporte; las palabras en el caso del poema, y las imágenes y sonidos en el caso del cine. La historia que se proyecta en el interior del espectador no es la misma que la que se proyecta en la pantalla, nace de esta, pero termina en un lugar singular y distante. Ese mundo que el espectador descubre detrás de una película no es descriptible con palabras, es un lugar inenarrable cuya experiencia, al igual que en el poema, también resulta intrasmisible. Es en ese lugar interior donde la historia se narra a través del silencio y se cuenta con imágenes que van más allá de lo real y nos abren la puerta a un mundo onírico, un lugar al que podríamos llamar; la tierra de los sueños. DIRECTOR'S NOTES How is the shape of loneliness? Can you visualize silence? Is it old age the exile to a calm place or a constant state of fear? Answers to these questions rarely coincide with what life can show us. Is in daily life, in the unpredictable behavior of each individual, where these answers, or some certainties, can be found. When reading a poem, a connection between the readers, who hear their own voice as the voice of the poem, and the world that arises from the words, or beyond them, is made. Then we try to share that experience with someone else so we narrate the poem. We start to tell it o simply read it and everything vanishes: The world beyond the words disappears, the voice of the poem and the reader s voice are no longer one, and the experience lived a moment ago becomes impossible to transmit and to retell it is useless.this feature of poetics is also a feature of movies: The combination, contrast and crash of images and sound create a reality beyond the events shown. As the poem reader, the audience of a movie is transported to a world beyond the means of the message; the words in the case of the poem, and the images and sound in the case of movies. The story projected inside the audience is not the same projected in the screen; it is born there, but ends up in a special and distant place. The world the audience discovers behind a movie cannot be described with words. It is an inexpressible place and the experience lived there is equally impossible to transmit, just like with the poem. In that interior place the story is told through silence and images that go beyond reality and open the door to a dream world, a place we could call the land of dreams.

5 BIOFILMOGRAFÍA DEL DIRECTOR / Director s Biofilmography TITO MOLINA nace en Portoviejo-Ecuador en Terminados sus estudios viaja a la capital, Quito, donde estudia Diseño Gráfico en la Academia Metropolitana de Diseño. Entre 1990 y 1999 trabaja como Director de Arte y Director Creativo en las principales Agencias de Publicidad y Diseño Gráfico de Ecuador. En 1997 rueda su primer cortometraje: Trailer2, después del cual viaja a España para estudiar Dirección Cinematográfica en el Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos de Cataluña-Barcelona. En el periodo dirige varios cortos y, entre 2004 y 2008, produce y dirige su primer documental: Por qué mueren los castaños. Entre 2009 y 2012 co-dirige y dirige dos largometrajes de ficción: Panihida y Silencio en la tierra de los sueños. Actualmente trabaja en los guiones de sus siguientes dos películas: El Río y Besar hasta sangrar. TITO MOLINA was born in Portoviejo-Ecuador in Having completed his studies he moves to the capital, Quito, where he studied Graphic Design at the Metropolitan Graphic Design Academy. Between 1990 and 1999 he worked as Art Director and Creative Director at major Advertising Agencies and Graphic Design of Ecuador. In 1997 he shot his first short film; Trailer2, after which he moves to Spain to study Film Directing at the Film Studies Center of Catalonia, Barcelona. In he directs several short films and, between 2004 and 2008, he produces and directs his first documentary: When Chestnut trees die. Between 2009 and 2012, co-directs and directs two feature films: Panihida and Silence in Dreamland. He is currently working on the scripts of his next two films: The River and Kiss till Blood.
