2 Estimados padres e hijos, Bienvenidos a la Escuela Secundaria de Hampton Bays! Estamos contentos de que estén aquí. Queremos que su experiencia escolar sea lo más agradable posible. Han empezado una nueva etapa de la vida llena de emoción de la cual nos sentimos orgullosos de formar parte. El propósito de este libro es darles la oportunidad de conocer nuestra escuela y su funcionamiento. En cada página van a ver los diferentes lugares y personas que se encuentran en nuestra escuela, además información sobre ellos. Qué divertido es aprender aquí! You have begun a new and exciting path in life, and we re proud we can play a part. The purpose of this book is to give you the opportunity to get to know our school and what we do. On each page you will see the different places and people found in our school, along with some information about them. It s a fun place to learn! Mr. Richardt Mr. Ferraro Este es nuestro director, Mr. Richardt y nuestro asistente director Mr. Ferraro. Ellos tienen un trabajo muy importante. Les enseñan a los maestros cómo ser maestros mejores. También, se ocupan del edificio para que todos estén seguros. This is our principal, Mr. Richardt and our assistant principal, Mr. Ferraro. They have a very important job. Here is our main office where the school s secretaries, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Kling and Mrs. Young are. They are the people who can help us if we have lost something or if we need help finding a teacher or classroom. Esta es la enfermería. Usted puede venir aquí si no se siente bien. 5 This is the nurse s office. You can come here if you are not feeling well. Sometimes the nurse, Mrs. McDonald will tell you to rest and then go back to class but if you are really sick she will call your parents/guardians to come pick you up. Ella también le servirá de guía cuando esté listo para elegir una universidad y carrera. This is our counselor, Mrs. Behr. You can talk to her when you have a problem with your schedule, a student, a teacher or if you are having problems at home. She will also help guide you when you are ready to choose a college and career. Esta es la biblioteca donde esta la bibliotecaria, Señorita Spota. Ella le ayudará en la biblioteca. Usted puede venir aquí a estudiar, leer libros o usar las computadoras para su tarea. This is the library where the librarian, Ms. Spota is. She will help you in the library. 6 Bienvenidos a la cafetería! Comemos en la cafetería durante los periodos 4, 5, 6 y 7. Welcome to the cafeteria. We eat in the cafeteria during periods 4, 5, 6, and 7. Aquí está el gimnasio y nuestros maestros de educación física, Señor Arato, Señora Lupa y Señorita Stangasser. Ellos nos enseñan cómo cuidar nuestros cuerpos. También nos enseña juegos diferentes. Tenemos clase en el gimnasio y a veces afuera. Here is our gym and are our gym teachers, Mr. Arato, Mrs. Lupa and Ms. Stangasser. They teach us how to take care of our bodies. Usted debe utilizar los pases en la parte posterior de la agenda si necesita ir al baño, ir a la oficina principal, si tiene que visitar a otro profesor o un consejero escolar o si necesita ir a su casillero. También utiliza su agenda para anotar su tarea y cualquier otra información importante. This is what our agendas look like. You must to use the passes in the back of the agenda if you need to use the bathroom, go to the main office, if you need to visit another teacher or a guidance counselor or if you need to go to your locker. You also use your agenda to write down your homework and any other important information. Estos son los baños. El baño de los niños se llama Men y el baño de las niñas se llama Women. Hay tres baños diferentes para niños y niñas de todo el colegio. These are the bathrooms. There are three different bathrooms for boys and girls throughout the school. Hampton Bays High School 7

Su padre/tutor también puede llamar a la escuela para decirle a la Señora Linnick qué va a estar ausente. Sus padres/tutores necesitan traer identificación cuando están en la escuela. This is the attendance office. You must come here if you are late to school. If you are going to be absent you must bring a note from your parent or guardian that says why you were absent. Your parent/guardian can also call the school to tell Mrs. Linnick why you will be absent. Your parents/guardians need to bring identification when they are in the school. Hampton Bays High School 8
