1 Lesson 17: Can, Cannot, Can...? Lección 17: Poder, No Poder, Puedo...? Reading (Turno de Leer) I can play tennis. (Yo puedo jugar tenis. Se jugar tenis) He can drive a car. (Él puede manejar un carro. Sabe manejar um carro.) You can dance. (tu puedes bailar. Sabes bailar.) They can hear me. (Ellos pueden escucharme.) She can cook. (Ella puede cocinar. Sabe cocinar.) This car can run fast. (Este coche puede correr rápido.) 1
2 I cannot ride a horse. (Yo no puedo montar a caballo. No se montar a caballo.) He cannot speak French. (El no puede hablar francés. No sabe hablar francés.) He can t dance. (Él no puede bailar. No sabe bailar) They can t swim. (Ellos no pueden nadar. No saben nadar.) Can she cook? Sabe ella cocinar? Can this car run fast? ( Puede este coche correr rápido?) Can you help me? ( Me puedes ayudar?) Can I ask a question? ( Te puedo hacer una pregunta?) 2
3 Grammar Focus (Paso a la Gramática) Cuando quieres expresar tu habilidad o oportunidad, para solicitar u ofrecer permiso, y para mostrar posibilidad, utilizas I / We / You / They + can + (verb). Cuando usas can, no necesitas cambiar la forma del verbo. Cuando quieres hacer una oración negative con can, utilizas I / We / You / They + cannot + (verb). No necesitas cambiar la forma del verbo. También puedes usar can t en lugar de cannot. Cuando quieres hacer una pregunta usando can, usas Can + I / We / You / They + (verb)? No necesitas cambiar la forma del verbo. Normalmente la última sílaba de la última palabra de la oración es mencionada con una entonación creciente. 3
